They should honestly charge less if it's digital only, even $5 less, considering they don't need to print the discs, make the boxes/design, ship to stores. If they are gonna cut out the middle man, I want to see savings on our end as well!

I'll definitely get it down the road. But I spoil myself with a maximum of one game per month, this month (time of writing) it will be FF7 Crisis core. Cannot wait.

@Blackmagehobbit it's really hard for a non-Japanese corporation to purchase a Japanese corporation. They have some type of law that makes it difficult for those kinds of acquisitions to occur.

@Rmg0731 I feel like any ports to Nintendo won't be exclusive anymore, I.E. Triangle Strategy, which launched exclusive to the Switch. I feel like games like those would be published MultiPlat day one.

@Tharsman not really. Why did the Bethesda deal go through? Bethesda made mostly single player experiences, third party would survive without it. Same as Square Enix. ABK is a multiplat multiplayer behemoth, not comparable.

To me this is confirmation Sony will acquire SE, they are just waiting for ABK to be sorted.

@WallyWest Bethesda made sense for Microsoft considering how closely worked together in the past.

Sony acquiring a publisher they work with closely like Square Enix, wouldn't be an issue.

Neither are worth even a tenth of what ABK is worth.

@AdamNovice I don't think this is true. I am thinking exactly the opposite. I think Sony thought this deal would have been struck down by regulators already. Sony already claimed they would be making much more acquisitions this year....and simply haven't. It's obvious they have been talking behind the scenes. The most obvious of these is Square Enix, whom have been making a ton of exclusive content for PlayStation the past 2-3 years. They are all but first party at this point in name only. At a valuation of between 2-3 B, Sony can easily close this deal, but seem to be waiting until after the regulators decide on ABK, since it would hurt their case by acquiring a publisher.

Just my two cents on the matter. When ever this matter is resolved, however it is resolved, Sony will have a few acquisitions announced thereafter.

Nintendo is successful with their approach, because they aim exclusively at their own individual market. Which is entirely separate from PlayStation and Xbox. I don't think Sony has the luxury of doing the same. They can't make their games like Nintendo, and mass sell for kids. Games like GOW/Horizon would simply never work in the Nintendo sphere.

If there is a built in PS it should be back seat only for legal reasons.

I think the game looks akin to Dynasty Warriors. A fun diversion of life. I'll probably pick it up on sale down the road.

I'm normally sad to see studios get folded, especially teams with a historic Franchise. But I am personally happy to see Volition go under. Between the horrible remake, and the way they gaslit fans for disliking their product, I hope they enjoy being a support team for future Borderlands games.

That's the problem with the Embracer group. They buy studios, sure. But they don't really invest into them, so they remain AA studios.

@nookie_egg people look at the deal as 3 so studios and several IP for $300 M, but an important element to the deal was that Embracer took on all outstanding debt from Square. This means that the company is running a very healthy budget right now. The acquisition would make more sense, seeing that so many of Square's upcoming games are PlayStation console exclusive. Though Final Fantasy is the biggest game on Square's docket, they do have other solid brands, and an amazing live action MMORPG in FF14.

Are also solid.

Square doesn't have many main studios. From what I can tell most of them are support studios to their bread and butter titles. So even I do agree that the acquisition of Square Enix will be expensive, but the titles will be system sellers.

@nookie_egg I do think Sony and Square are close to an acquisition. I think Sony is holding out until after Activision Blizzard is dealt with. It would look bad for their argument if they bought a publisher then accused Microsoft of trying to make Activision exclusive. Lol.

I like to play the role of the character in the game, and get lost in the lore. Almost like it is an RPG... I even have no trouble playing the other gender option. Not sure how people get triggered by these game design choices...

Sony could have avoided this if they had bought Atlus out of bankruptcy back in 2014. They have since helped rejuvenate Sega. It cost them less than 200 m, considering what Sony paid for Bungie, something like this would have been a solid studio to acquire back then. Now I doubt Sony could ever acquire Sega.

I'm sure Destruction Allstars was Lucids chance to make it into Sony's spending spree. Unfortunately for them, the game was doomed from the beginning, should have charged it as a 39.99$ game, they'd have been more successful.

If I do upgrade my SSD I'll do a 2 or 4 TB. Just so I don't have to do it again.

The problem with these services is starting a game. Once I'm in it, I'm in it. Just platinumed Horizon, so I'm taking suggestions for my next game.

I enjoy the series, very underrated. I hate how all the young people assume SAO is the first attempt at this concept. No lot of good titles came before it

I platinumed the game, it was fantastic for a PS4 title.

This being a PS5 game, I want more open world exploration and preferably an improvement to how the story was told. I have no doubt graphics will be phenomenal!
