Here’s a quick public relations lesson for developers: don’t, under any circumstances, use the word ‘parity’ when talking about the different versions of your game. NeoGAF has already hired a lynch mob to take down British studio Rocksteady, as it’s indicated that it’s targeting equality across all versions of upcoming superhero sequel, Batman: Arkham Knight.
“We don't know yet,” a studio representative said when asked tediously about the title’s resolution and framerate. “We're about six months away from going gold, so we don't know what the resolution and the framerate's going to be yet. That's something that happens during the optimisation phase of the game. We're aiming for parity across all platforms.”
In truth, this fairly careless comment could be interpreted in a number of different ways – perhaps, for example, the studio simply wants the game to look equally awesome on all machines. Either way, the company may need to employ the services of a comic book character to clean this mess up; much like Assassin’s Creed Unity, this is a quote that may come back to haunt it.

sounds a bit two-face(d) to me
I think until they announce actual numbers, we need to let comments like this slide a bit more easily. I mean, obviously if you're developing a multiplat game you want it to be awesome on all consoles, so you should always be aiming to have the highest numbers on the board across all systems. I could understand it if they'd announced a Unity style lower res / framerate, but with this comment as it currently stands I think it's too early to jump on the rage train.
June 2. Isn't that a little too specific for 7 months out? I ALWAYS give Nintendo a hard time for not giving dates but an actual day 7 months out looks weird.
If they are going for parity at 1080p and 60fps then I don't see a problem.
@rjejr "If they are going for parity at 1080p and 60fps then I don't see a problem."

You'll need a good PC for that or better.
There is too much focus on frame rate and image quality comparisons....if the game just does everything it's meant to do and looks as good as it did in features and trailers I'll be happy....especially after it was delayed. No Watchdogs alike murky graphics...or Being like Destiny and being a jumbled and chopped down version of what it was meant to be. After the lacklustre but still fun Arkham: Origins I need a solid fix of Batman goodness.
"We're aiming for parity across all platforms.”

Lame. It better look as good as the E3 demo.
@Jazzer94 do you not realise that a great deal of PS4 games run at 1080p/60ps
@get2sammyb Catwoman, so hot
@kdognumba1 we haven't seen any gameplay yet, just cinematic stodge.
@Bad-MuthaAdebis pretty certain there has definitely been gameplay footage out for this.
@tom189 And this game won't be one of them unless there is a downgrade.
@SteveButler2210 some gliding and driving I think, pretty measley
That tag line tho
As for this, look at any of the gifs.
I think this game will look great on next-gen. The Arkham games on PS3 looked great, no reason this won't be amazing. Hopes are up for a solid game!
I've decided not to invest in games that have been gimped to look the same as xbone. PS4 is clearly a more capable machine, I don't see why we should miss out because devs have 'downgrade' to appease M$ and xbone owners. I bought the PS4 because I knew it was more powerful and expected devs to use its strengths. There are plenty of games out there to choose from, that do use the extra power, and these will get my cash.
I don't want to pass on buying this game, but I will if Rocksteady pulls an Ubisoft. This is f'ing bs. Where was this crap last gen when these a-hole third parties were releasing garbage PS3 port after garbage PS3 port? Bethesda being the absolute worst offender. PS4 is selling better, it has better hardware, I'm sick of these jackoff companies taking the MS dollars for 'parity.' And If they're going to do it, shut up and don't flat out tell us you're doing so. Really pisses me off though, I know it's not Warner Brothers/Rocksteady's obligation to use Sony's hardware to its potential as it doesn't make the console but their obligation should be to the people who bought that machine and they shouldn't give a damn if PS4/X1 owners fight it out over that stuff. Developers were never useless like this back in the day, SNES had better hardware than Genesis so it usually got better versions of games, simple as that. I'm really, really starting to get tired of this crap. If it isn't DRM bs it's another thing. I'm starting to get to the point where I wouldn't shed a single tear if the industry just collapsed and had a complete reset. Sometimes you need that to get rid of the sh*t. Dumb f**ks in suits are ruining this industry with idiotic decision making.
@SteveButler2210
Letting things slide is exactly why nothing gets done in this industry and why games such as Battlefield 4 and especially DriveClub are allowed to hit the market in pitiful shape. What you did post, and I do agree with it, is that obviously the developers should want the game to be awesome on all consoles. If that means though that the best the weaker hardware of the Xbox One can do is significantly less than PS4 and especially PC, then so be it. The game should be designed to be the best it can on each platform, if MS doesn't like that the Xbox One version looks worse or runs worse, tough sh*t, should've made a more powerful console. But all these devs understand is $$$ and people would still be a downgraded PS4 version anyway just like AC Unity will still sell eventhough it deserves zero attention at this point.
I know money talks, but why are developwrs so keen on pleasing M$ when they didn't do the same when porting to PS3 last gen. The PS3 was a capable machine but it was just apples to oranges as they say. A port to PS3 was never optimized, it was just kinda thrown at it. This gen the PS4 is way more capable , but I feel developers are still just trying to "port" over to PS4 as they are not optimizing for PS4... Just seem to be doing enough for XBone to run smooth. Ah well , perhaps the parity comment is to premature to get worked up over ..
@Shorykenkid
It's especially stupid because PS4 is selling better and Sony actually went out of its way to appease developers by making a console that was getting praise for being easy to work with. There really is no excuse. Xbox One owners bought the console knowing it was weaker, PS4 owners shouldn't have to suffer because of that, especially when they spent a significant amount of money expecting to get the machine that allows for better performance. Why does that not count for anything? Only Xbox One owners are important. These third parties are so full of sh*t it's beyond belief. MS is starting to annoy me too but it is just using its best asset to win. The third parties don't have to appease them but the scummy politicians at the top are allowing it to happen.
@Gamer83
You're absolutly right and I feel the same way. Last gen I had both systems along with a Wii. This gen I chose to go PS4 all the way for its exclusives (whenever they arrive), the indie support, and I knew full well that it was the more powerful console. So when I hear news like "parity" for both consoles and "Tomb Raider for XBone" because they need something to go against Uncharted.... Not only do I feel I'm getting shafted, but my disgusted feeling toward M$ grows more and more.... As I feel there's more behind the scenes business happening between M$ and the pathetic third party's just so they , M$ remain competitive.
@Shorykenkid
The way I see it, I blame the third parties more than MS. MS is trying to compete, do I love the tactics? No, but it's not like Sony is some angelic company either, the third parties have the choice to play ball or not. A company like Platinum which needs help to fund its games or a company like Capcom which is falling apart, I can understand deals like the ones for Bayonetta 2 with Nintendo and Scalebound and Dead Rising 3 for X1. What I can not accept is a company like SquareEnix shutting out PlayStation gamers from Tomb Raider when it was the PlayStation owners who bought more copies of the most recent game despite it being positioned as an Xbox game. I have an even bigger problem with companies like Ubisoft and WB/Rocksteady, which absolutely do not need the money taking MS' deal to gimp PS4 versions of games to 'avoid debates and stuff' still one of the dumbest actual quotes I ever read from a game developer. When you're competing, you use your best assets to try and win, for MS that's money, the third parties don't have to play ball. In the case of WB what it should be telling MS is that as long as the game is functional and runs as best it can on X1 that should be all that matters. Companies asked Sony to create a more developer friendly console, Sony delivered on that, and it's selling at a much faster rate than X1 and what's the pay back Sony gets? 'Sorry we feel bad for Xbox owners.' Yet somehow those people who spent their $400 hard-earned on the more powerful console all the sudden don't matter? F'ing bs. All these scumbag execs running these companies can go straight to hell.
@Gamer83 " What I can not accept is a company like SquareEnix shutting out PlayStation gamers from Tomb Raider"
This one actually makes sense because Uncharted 4 will overwhelmingly outsell Tomb Raider on PS4 anyway. XB1 users will buy Tomb Raider while we're playing Uncharted. So, Tomb Raider is a timed XB1 exclusive, which is fine because we're all going to play Uncharted 4 first anyways.
@Munkyknuts you're are not the brightest light bulb are you?
@MidnightManiac i will never buy a game that is gimped!
What is it with PC gamers and frame rate/fps? Are they trying to over compensate for something.
Yeah we know PC's are more powerful but cost more to keep them cutting edge and they're prone to bugs/virus and crasing.
They also have to wait longer for certain games alot of the time and will never get games like The Last of Us, Uncharted and many more.
I have Shadow of Mordor on my PS4 and it runs great. My friend has it for his PC and he said its barely playable due to it not having an option for a controller.
Don't get me wrong I like PC gaming and own one myself but atleast when I put a game into my PS4 I can be 100% sure it'll work.
Awful news,
man, game community nowadays are so sensitive and easily offended like those feminazis
