Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Switch Steady As All Other Systems Slump

Mahe

@Gamer83 Sorry, can't agree about Zelda. It's good, but not great. Mario Switch looks completely boring - pass!

You also need to remember that PS4 was released in Japan just over 3 years ago, in 2014. It's well on its way to reach Wii lifetime sales in Japan. Those sales just won't happen overnight.

@Flaming_Kaiser Zelda has been bigger in Japan, but it has also been on more popular platforms. You need to remember, Switch has been selling less than 3DS or even Wii U in Japan, launch-aligned. The other platform it's on, Wii U, wasn't exactly popular either.

For a fun comparison, count the number of PS4 games in the top 20.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Steady in Slow Week for PlayStation

Mahe

@BLP_Software Look at the sales. PS4 sales would be tanking if they only had Pro and didn't have the Slim. It's obvious that Slim is needed and Pro is the extra throwaway model.

And as I said, Slim looks good. Pro is ugly, I wouldn't want it even if I was in the market for it!

Re: Dragon Quest XI Will Soon Have a Confirmed Japanese Release Date

Mahe

@rjejr This is different. FF15 was rife with problems. But DQ11 has been seemingly smooth sailing all the way, and Square Enix has been very confident in it. It will outsell FF15 easily in Japan at launch. Of course, that's not hard with PS4, 2DS and 3DS combined, but DQ11 would do very well even if it was just on PS4.

Re: The Disney Afternoon Collection Brings Childhood Classics to PS4

@nhSnork "Nintendo console that pulled off as much of a PS4 (if you know what I mean) as it could without compromising its trump card over PS4..."

No, I don't know what you mean. What the heck do you mean?

Also, have you been following the news lately? Before Switch's release, a lot of N-fanboys were saying "the games aren't announced because they're waiting for the reveal/release/whatever!"

But that's now over. The system was revealed and released, and still the game announcements aren't coming. Why would anyone buy a Switch when they can't even get what should be obvious shoo-ins like this and South Park Fractured But Whole?

Re: Talking Point: Could 2017 Be Gaming's Greatest Ever Year?

Mahe

The Wii launch year of 2006 with all the Wii games and everything else is very hard to beat, but 2017 is certainly shaping up to be a great year. PS4 is doing great with tons of games, 2DS is still getting interesting games like Fire Emblem Echoes, and even Wii U got Zelda.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Horizon: Zero Dawn Beats Zelda to Summit

Mahe

@GraveLordXD Yeah, it's a huge problem for Wii U. But at least it's not the Switch, where the whole system rests on flimsy rail attachments, or the subpar dock that might scratch your screen, or have a controller charging method that basically forces you to fiddle with the rails, the system itself and/or the dock.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Horizon: Zero Dawn Beats Zelda to Summit

Mahe

@BLP_Software There are just way too many reasons to even list. Let's just say that 0 % is the percent at which the Switch concept and execution appeal to me. I have Wii U for Zelda, a PS4 for all the other games, and 2DS for handheld games. I'm totally set.

Re: Sony Temporarily Cuts PS4's Price in Europe to Counter Nintendo Switch

Mahe

@YETi Agreed. This is a POWER MOVE from Sony. This will get a lot of people who've still been on the sidelines into the PS4 ecosystem, and get them enjoying the system's great game library. All those new owners and game purchases in turn will fuel even more game development and PS4 purchases in the future. It's a win-win for Sony, and for the players.
