Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy PlayStation-Themed Amiibo?

KelticDevil

@Jaz007

Like I said, Sony was reactionary with their motion controller. They weren't innovative, because they never bothered to advance the technology to the phase Nintendo did until Sony saw how much $ Nintendo was making. And putting something out in stores, for consumers to buy, is what counts. Nintendo believed in what they were doing & were brave in following through with that technology, for better or worse (I hated the Wii), & should deserve the credit.

All Sony did was see how much money the Wii made, & tried to lazily jump on board that bandwagon with an ill-advised add-on. And they didn't even bother to come up with something different. Just another wand type controller. And then they didn't even support the thing worth a damn.

The motion controller was a gaming fad. And what's worse than a gaming fad? Being the company that tries to blatenly copy that fad, but fails. Then to make it worse, they stopped supporting their product (gee, sound familiar?) after telling you how "innovative" it is. Pfft. PS Move, Vita, PS TV. See a pattern here? So what would make anyone think it would be a good idea for Sony to have Amiibos?

Btw.....You know another company that got in trouble for using these types of business practices? Sega.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy PlayStation-Themed Amiibo?

@Jaz007

That's not correct. And I am taking this from Wikapedia:

Sony started develpmental work on the EyeToy, not the same thing as the Move, in 1999. That didn't come out till 2003. They didn't even start working on the PS Move controller until 2008. The Wii came out in 2006. Also, they only released the Move because of the success Nintendo had with the Wii.

My point is/was Sony was being completely reactionary to a move Nintendo did first. They hopped on the $$$ bandwagon fad known as motion controls & failed. The PS Move was a complete & blatent rip-off of the Wii controller. Was it better? Sure, but that's because it came out many years later. And that doesn't mean they didn't rip Nintendo off. I hate Kinect, but at least that was somewhat original, due to there being no controller involved at all. Sony didn't even bother doing something even a little innovative.

Oh and what happened? Yea the motion control fad died and Sony didn't support the Move anymore. Gee, what a shock.

Re: SEGA Downsizing as It Turns Its Attention to Digital Games

KelticDevil

Sega only has themselves to blame. Screwing over customers with over-priced, under-supported add-ons like the Sega CD & 32X caught up to them. And the Sega Saturn being a massive disappointment made it even worse. Even the Dreamcast (my favorite console of all time) couldn't save them from their previous blunders.

And since the Dreamcast, Sega has developed/published mostly crap. It's hard to be a successful software company when the software you release sucks.

I do still miss my Genesis & Dreamcast consoles though. Those were great times.

Sorry about that, Sammy. I will stop picking on the kid & refrain from using insults to make my point. I respect that you want to run a site that is clean & family friendly. I am just used to other sites being completely different, so I will adjust & watch how I word things going forward.

@adf86

Are you serious?

"Mr. Sensitive, what you have said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this comment section is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul."

Re: Here's a Quick Glimpse at PS4 Hack-'n'-Slash Hellblade

KelticDevil

@adf86

Oh I "dare". I guess I am just a "daring" kind of guy. Lol.

And Bungie signing a 10 yr. deal with Activi$ion is pretty much a sign that they aren't considered an indie studio. You, and only you, are the only person I have ever seen type (or say) that Bungie is an indie. You know why? Because it's ridiculous.

Re: Here's a Quick Glimpse at PS4 Hack-'n'-Slash Hellblade

KelticDevil

@adf86

Oh Bungie doesn't work with Activi$ion?!! That's not an "indie" studio. They have released 1 game since splitting from Microsoft, & that game was one of the biggest AAA releases in years, funded by Activi$ion. How, in any way......in reality......can Bungie be considered an indie company?

Also about your "respect" comment......give me a break, Mr. Sensitive. If you don't want to be called out for typing nonsense, then don't type nonsense. Here is what you actually wrote.......

"Ninja Theory are an indie studio cos they are independent much like Hello Games or Vlambeer or Bungie, it their independent then their indie it's as simple as that."

You're kidding, right? If you come at me with a comment, & you destroy the English language like that, in that comment.......I may call you out on it. Just sayin'.

Re: Would You Resist a New Resistance Game on PS4?

KelticDevil

Sometimes I understand why game companies just shovel out mediocre FPS multiplayer crap like they do when I read some comments like I have in this section. It's absolutely CRIMINAL that a game from the COD series after MW2 (and a couple Treyarch turds before) outsold any Resistance PS3 game.

All 3 games had good stories along with good multiplayer, which is rare. But I bet the same people here complaining that Resistance sucked have swallowed all of Bungie's Destiny sauce. How this series didn't sell better, is beyond me.

Re: This Dying Light Launch Trailer Will Sell a Lot of Copies

KelticDevil

When a developer/publisher refuses to send out review copies in time.......never a good sign.

Techland said there would be no review embargo on this game because they want to be as "transparent" as possible. Apparently, their solution is just to not send out review copies at all.

And seeing how Dead Island was a huge mess........no thanks.

Re: February's PlayStation Plus Freebies Will Be Announced Next Week

KelticDevil

@JohnKarnes

Actually, since I don't have a PS4 I don't PAY MONEY for online multiplayer. So the quality level of the "free" games is kind of a big deal.

And just because Sony has trained you defend them for now making you pay to play online games (even with PSN having more problems then ever), doesn't mean you should get crap games for the PS4 either.

Either way, none of PS+ is "free".

Re: Would You Resist a New Resistance Game on PS4?

KelticDevil

I loved all three of the Resistance games. People forget that the first Resistance helped carry the PS3 during the early days of the struggling console. I thought part 2 had one of the most shocking endings ever. And 3 was a great game that criminally undersold. All of the games were good single player, too. I never understood why the series wasn't a huge hit.

However, Insomniac has already said (on multiple occasions) that they are done with the series. So who knows? But after playing KZ: Mercenary, I would love to see Guerilla Cambridge get a shot. I thought they did a fantastic job on KZ.

Re: Er, So You Won't Be Playing Borderlands 3 on PS4 for a While Yet

KelticDevil

@get2sammyb

Yea, nobody wants Borderlands to become like Destiny. If Gearbox does that, they will lose lots of fans & customers. And I have, honestly, never read or heard anyone else saying that it will be. But to each their own.....lol.

I am just glad to hear Gearbox isn't rushing some sequel out the door. I hope they take all the time they need to make the game great.

Re: Rumour: Could Call of Duty: World at War II Be Treyarch's Next Title?

KelticDevil

@Hero-of-WiiU

That would be nice, but Treyarch never does anything that takes thought, creativity, or any brains. They just hop on the back of better companies & rip-off what they have done. And they somehow manage to make the games worse in the process.

Since Infinity Ward is, basically, a shell of it's former great self (following all the lawsuits & departures from the company), I wouldn't mind seeing Sledgehammer get a shot at the WWII scene. Or, like someone else said, go Vietnam or Gulf war. At least that would feel fresh.

Re: The Time Has Come to Compare Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on PS4 to the Original PSP Version

KelticDevil

@Gamer83

Yea I remember the SNES days when everything SquareSoft released was pure gold. And they (mostly) kept it going up through FFX.

Then came FFXI. Ugh. Once they went MMO & turned into SquareEnix, it all went downhill. They are the posterchild for how Japanese gaming has taken a (mostly) downturn for the worse.

And the fact that they won't make the FFVII remake because it would take more work to do is ridiculous. They would make a king's ransom with that remake & I am shocked they haven't yet. Hell, they re-release every FF game on every system anyways, clearly showing that they aren't above whoring & milking the past for all it's worth. Why not give us the remake that we all actually WANT?

Re: Opinion: Why You Shouldn't Write Off PS4 Racer DriveClub

KelticDevil

@Flurpsel

Yea and they could've released a game that worked at launch, but didn't. And that would be for one of three reasons:

1. They didn't have enough time.
2. They are incompetent and couldn't get it done.
3. They knew people who accept buggy, glitchy games will line up in droves to happily fork over $60 because they are......well, I'll just leave it at that.

And for those that make the idiotic argument that I have a "chip on my shoulder" for not supporting companies that release broken games or that "this is how the gaming industry is now. Get used to it.", I say to you....

The console gaming industry didn't used to be like this. It's because of people who make ignorant comments and purchase games like this that the industry feels like it can get away with it. I.guess I can't blame the companies anymore.

Re: Opinion: Why You Shouldn't Write Off PS4 Racer DriveClub

KelticDevil

@JohnnyBastos

(Checks shoulder)......yea I like the "chip" where it is. Thanks.

And how am I missing out? Every console ends up with like a million racing games. I'll support one of the other ones, if I want. But I won't support this one.

If you want to support the type of things Sony & Evolution Studios pulled with this game, go ahead. It just hurts the gaming industry as a whole &, in the end, us consumers.
