Don't get me wrong, I don't mind dlc if it's done correctly. Meaning it's not overpriced content pulled from the game just to make extra $. Bethesda's games are a good example of how to do dlc.
But even if DriveClub releases those other cars for free, why weren't they in the original game? They already delayed the game & still had a disasterous launch. What were they doing that whole time? Releasing a racing game w/ only European cars is completely ridiculous & it effects the out-of-box original product. Whether it's free or not, gamers shouldn't have to wait to get at least the minimum amount of cars available in most racing games.
If you are going to call someone a "crybaby" for voicing an opinion that is different than yours.....at least spell correctly.
And you are the type of idiotic gamer that lets these companies ruin the industry. Online only games are NOT "the best". How about games that offer BOTH a single and multiplayer experience? Those are the best. Then everybody is happy.
Now go back to playing 'COD: Ghosts' & leave us adults alone.
Games are "starting to get better" about DLC? Are you high? Lol.
Destiny releases in a condition where it's obvious that story elements had been pulled from the game. Guess where that stuff ends up? Yea DLC.
The new PS3 Borderlands (the pre-sequel) has already been caught holding back characters, etc. And you honestly believe DriveClub is only going to have European cars in it? And you think those Japanese, American, etc. cars aren't on the disc?
Companies are getting WORSE about DLC, not better. I am not saying this game will do that, but multiplayer focused games tend to do that sort of thing.
Most potential to you maybe. The guy answering glazed over the campaign question, of course. Not every game needs to be a co-op or multiplayer experience.
But I get that's what this game is about, so maybe this just isn't my type of game, in general. That doesn't make it a bad game, just not a game for me.
Just an absolute disaster of a launch. People should boycott this game to show these companies that, as consumers, we won't put up with this junk.
To make it worse, as another comment said, the game even got delayed. What the hell were they doing that whole time? And don't get me started on the game not having cars outside of Europe......until the DLC comes, that is.
Another day, another open world, multiplayer focused shooter that will nickel & dime you to death with DLC that should've been in the game to begin with. Snore.
And why is Tom Clancy's name still on these games?
I really want this game, as I am a huge survival horror fan. Just not sure if, like Alien: Isolation, I should just get the PS3 version or wait till I get a PS4 to give it a shot.
I am intetested in this if they patch more Vita games that I want & having Netflix is A MUST.
Those damn memory card prices are a pain though. And I doubt Sony will fully suport this micro-console since they don't even bother supporting the Vita itself anymore. Especially since this will be a niche console.
As I said in another article.....if Sony gets more of these developers to patch their Vita games to work on PlayStation TV, I will buy the console.
Getting Killzone is great, but it needs more. Uncharted, LBP, Gravity Rush, Super Stardust Delta, etc. Hell, I would even take that shi@#y Resistance game ( I am a fan of the PS3 trilogy).
Persona is a big one to have though. Keep em coming Sony!
PlayStation TV is very interesting to me. It's great it's getting games like this, but unless Sony figures out a way to patch the Vita versions of Uncharted, LBP, Gravity Rush, etc., I will not be buying this micro-console. It's as simple as that
Another online game that almost everyone complains about, but then continues to play it. If you don't know why you are playing it still, that should tell you something.
Stop playing it & play something else. People are so goofy.
Dreamcast had Soul Calibur (one of the greatest fighters of all time), Sonic Adventure, NFL 2K (one of the best sports games ever), Power Stone, Marvel Vs Capcom, Hydro Thunder, & House Of The Dead 2. Now THAT'S a launch lineup!
And not too long after came Grandia 2, Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star Online, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, & of course, Shenmue. I am probably missing some, but that's how you back a new console!
I miss my Dreamcast. I miss raising my little 'chao' character from Sonic Adventure on my VMU (memory card that you could play games on) & even talking to my fish-like character through a microphone in 'Seaman'.
I am not big into racing games either, but I was intetested in DriveClub because I felt the whole sim-racer genre has grown stale, so I was hoping this would be good & something different.
Hopefully, they will get the servers figured out so people can play the game properly.
I think Sammy said it best & I have been saying this for awhile: this "next-gen" needs it's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. The original, not the sequels.
And I have ripped Activi$ion & Treyarch for destroying a once great franchise, but people forget how revolutionary that first game was. FPS's were stuck in WW2 malaise & were getting very tiresome. MW1 brought the FPS into modern times & was a FPS that actually managed to tell a great story while also delivering great multiplayer.
To that last point, how can we expect developers & publishers to put the effort to give us a great campaign along with the multiplayer, if we continue to purchase games that only give us online shooting? Most have awful campaigns, but people buy them anyways. So should we be surprised when a company like Bungie releases a game like Destiny, which has been ripped for it's lack of a story? They have been taught to be lazy by us buying lazily developed games for years.
We speak with our wallets & that's the only thing these companies listen to. If we continue to shell out our hard earned $ for stuff like Destiny (which sold in record numbers), then they will continue to shovel them out.
Hopefully, we'll get our BioShock, Mass Effect, Modern Warfare, Uncharted, or whatever of this generation soon. If not, I have a beastly PS3 backlog to keep me busy for awhile.
I have been very open, honest, & sometimes critical of some of your articles on this site. I mean no disrespect, but I tend to speak my mind quite a bit.
In saying that, & even though I disagree with some of what you said (comparing the horrendous Lair to Heavenly Sword was questionable. I think Haze would have been a better example), this is the best article I have read here. Well done.
But overall, this is why I preach this......don't buy a new console until, AT LEAST, a year into it's lifespan. Now I understand that if everyone actually did that, we wouldn't have much of a videogame industry. But for a lot of the reasons you stated in the article, & the fact that consoles change so much over it's lifespan (new models, bigger hard drives, etc.), plus you can games cheaper.....it's a no brainer for me to wait.
The only great console launch, in my opinion, was the Sega Dreamcast. Nobody has beaten that since & it's the last console I bought at launch.
And this is one of the reasons I wait on buying a console at launch.
Give us a real f*@%(! hard drive, Sony. We all know you will eventually. 500 gb is a joke & they knew it long ago. I'll wait for a PS4 'slim' or whatever the hell they call it & it better have a bigger hard drive.
As I have ranted about my views on Activision here before, I won't bore the comment section more. But yea it seems Activi$ion has ruined Bungie just like they ruined Infinity Ward.
I saw the pic. on the pre-order PSN page associated with the first batch of DLC upcoming for Destiny. Gee, want to rip off the look of the alien from Alien much? What a joke. Come to think of it, maybe Bungie is just overrated? Who knows.
Yea this 'next-gen' needs that run of big games to show people what the PS4 is capable of. New IP's would be great too. 'Last-gen' games like Mass Effect, BioShock, Uncharted, etc. were pivotal to the success of the industry, as a whole, bc they were new IP's & brought something fresh to the table.
There isn't one MUST own in there & those are all big time releases. In fact, some of those games are pure crap. Take Metacritic scores for what you will, but at best......this 'next-gen' has been extremely underwhelming.
Oh and the 'indie' games are doing just as bad, if not worse.
You could make an argument that Shadow Of Mordor is the only big retail, non sport related (even some of those have struggled) & non last-gen port, to either meet or exceed expectations.
What is this 'Colonial Marines' you speak of? I do remember playing an Aliens game that was so rancid, I mostly deleted it from memory for fear it may infect the rest of my brain with it's awfulness. Lol.
I will be buying this as soon as I can. I am a HUGE fan of the movies (even the wretched, 'Resurection') & the first is one of my all time top 5 movies. I have the movie poster on my wall as I type this. So this game was basically made for people like me.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter bundle? The PS4 would be in camo.

Oh yea, I am completely out of line. :-
Re: Review: The Evil Within (PlayStation 4)
@readyletsgo
You'd probably be safe buying the PS3 version. Like most of these 'cross-gen' releases, this game started as a PS3 game & they 'upgraded' it to PS4.
The ones you want to avoid are ones like 'Shadow Of Mordor'. The PS3 version of that was made by a completely different company.
Re: You Won't Be Doing Much Video Streaming on PlayStation TV
What's that sound? Oh it's Sony losing a sale.

Re: Round Up: DriveClub PS4 Reviews Target Pole Position
@LDXD
Yea my PS3 may have to put a restraining order out on me. lol.
Re: Round Up: DriveClub PS4 Reviews Target Pole Position
@get2sammyb
A Metacritic score of 74 is not a positive score for a game like this. Not really a positive score for any game, for that matter.
As I have said, when the top SIX rated games on the system are last-gen ports, you are doing it wrong. That's embarrassing.
Knack - 54. Thief - 67. Killzone - 73. DiveClub - 74, so far. Destiny - 76. COD: Ghosts - 78. Alien: Isolation - 78. Wolfenstein - 79. inFAMOUS - 80. Watch Dogs - 80. Etc. Etc.
There isn't one MUST own in there & those are all big time releases. In fact, some of those games are pure crap. Take Metacritic scores for what you will, but at best......this 'next-gen' has been extremely underwhelming.
Oh and the 'indie' games are doing just as bad, if not worse.

Re: Guide: How to Stay Alive in Alien: Isolation on PS4

Exactly. Or......you could just get a buddy named Hicks. That may help ya against an alien.
On a side note, whomever decided to not bring Hicks back for Alien 3 needs to be put in stocks. Ridiculous.
Re: Review: Slender: The Arrival (PlayStation 3)
Yea the '3' score did seem overly harsh after reading the text review. I would think a '3' would be for games that are complete garbage.
Either way, the reviwer did do a good job of getting one point across......this is no must own game. Kind of a shame as I was looking forward to this.
Re: Guide: How to Stay Alive in Alien: Isolation on PS4
How to survive against an Alien?
"Nuke the site from orbit. Only way to be sure."

What is this 'Colonial Marines' you speak of? I do remember playing an Aliens game that was so rancid, I mostly deleted it from memory for fear it may infect the rest of my brain with it's awfulness. Lol.
Re: Review: Alien: Isolation (PlayStation 4)
I will be buying this as soon as I can. I am a HUGE fan of the movies (even the wretched, 'Resurection') & the first is one of my all time top 5 movies. I have the movie poster on my wall as I type this. So this game was basically made for people like me.
The future DLC (or pre order bonus) with Ripley & the cast from the first flick is even more enticing.
Re: Review: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (PlayStation 4)
I am really looking forward to giving this game a shot. I am a huge Monolith guy, so hopefully this gets them going again.
Still upset the original Condemned never came to PS3 & Condemned 2 never got a trophy patch. Both great games though.
