I have been gaming since the 80’s. And it’s the same thing every single time.....
Whomever is in first place in this stupid console war nonsense gets arrogant & starts acting like an *!?
Nintendo has done it several times. Microsoft did it with launch of Xbox One. And Sony did it with the awful PS3 reveal & they are in the midst of doing it again.
Competition is good for everybody. And if Microsoft & Nintendo want to team up, I’m all for it. Cross-play should just be standard nowadays. The majority of gamers don’t give a rat’s ?!* about sales #’s. In fact, nobody talks about console sales #’s except for Sony fans. Most people just want to play games with their friends, no matter what console they are on.
And for those that say Microsoft didn’t want cross-play last-gen....that was with Don Mattrick in charge. And Mattrick was a bigger tool than Jim Ryan. Phil Spencer is different & he’s doing a great job.
If Sony wants to play the villain, then so be it. The rest of the world can enjoy playing fun games together, while PlayStation fans get left in the dark. And when the tide turns next “generation”, the same Sony fans that don’t want cross-platform play because of some stupid console sales #’s can stick to their countless single player, 3rd person action/shooter games that can’t even outsell State Of Decay 2, despite having “80 million” consoles in the wild.
So, I guess there is no reason for people to buy a PS4 now, since their games will end up on PC. In fact, just like you guys said about Xbox, PlayStation doesn't really have many exclusives then? Ya know....since all their exclusives will end up on PC.
Or is it different because it is Sony? Or is it different because you have to stream the games (which nobody likes doing) on Sony's ridiculous PS Now service? Hrm.
To be honest, I think this is a good thing. Unlike the most of you, who rip Microsoft for doing this (I have no idea why other than fanboyism), it's a smart business move as a company. Microsoft just saw that quicker than Sony.
Microsoft & Sony make minimal profit (if any) off hardware. They make their money on software & services. That's why companies don't care whether you play Uncharted, Gears Of War, Horizon, or Halo on console or PC. Either way, they are getting your money. And before anyone even says, "But Uncharted & Horizon aren't on PS Now!"......I say, "Not yet." Because if they don't show up on there eventually, this is all a big waste of time. PS Now will never take off because of it's streaming nature. But, it REALLY won't take off without an Uncharted or Horizon on the service.
This was one of the worst E3 conferences I have ever seen. If two of your reveals are a SECOND remaster of a PS2 game & some VR stuff.....that is a joke. And they were showing DLC? I started laughing. Also, I thought Sony was all about the indies? Where were they?
This is why you don't show games that are 2-3 yrs. out, like they did in the last 2 conferences. Because you end up with shows like this. And glad to see all those marketing deals doing them any good on stage.
Also, is it just me or will Nintendo's direct will be longer than this? When it ended, they showed the crowd they looked like......"Is that it? Is it over? So, we leave now?"
I am shocked. This conference is getting ripped everywhere but here.
God Of War & Spider-Man looked good. But it's yet another GOW game & there were way too many QTE's.
Checking out what other websites (that I won't mention for obvious reasons, but will if you really want proof of what I am about to say) & comment sections are saying.......I am actually reading a lot of people hating on Sony's press conference calling it a lot of fluff to cover up the fact they, literally, have almost no exclusives coming out this year.
But a few points are very interesting to me.......
If Sony really believes in Shenmue 3, then why does it need a Kickstarter campaign at all? Why doesn't Sony just fund the game? And it's not even being developed yet? Who knows when the game will finally be released & what consoles it will be released on. It could end up on Xbox One.
The FFVII remake is, also, not an exclusive. Why everyone is acting like it is, is beyond me. Just like RotTR, it's timed exclusivity. And once again, no release date or naming of platforms. So, once again, it could be an Xbox One game too.
And many gamers (and writers) who frequent this site would say, "Who cares?" if it was Microsoft getting exclusive timed DLC for games like COD, Batman, Assassin's Creed, Destiny, etc. like it has in the past. But, that was a big part of Sony's show. And all of that DLC is coming to Xbox One at some point. Funny now that the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak.
And nobody seems to know what the heck Media Molecule's game is about.
Why wasn't Persona 5 shown? It's one of the only PS4 exclusives slated for 2015. You think they would want to show at least one game coming out this year. Persona 4 was amazing. Missed opportunity there.
So after you look past all the "fluff", you are left with Uncharted, Horizon (which looked interesting), No Man's Sky. And who knows when The Last Guardian will be released & if it will even be good after all these years in development hell.
So no......Sony did not have the best E3 conference ever, in my opinion. Not even close. They used a lot of clever tricks to try to hide the fact that they have squat coming out this year that isn't going to be on Xbox One. And some of the games that people are going crazy about here are not even exclusives & will end up on Xbox anyways.
Once again, not trying to be argumentative or attack anyone. These are solid & valid opinions/points. Sorry if you don't agree with them.
If you didn't catch Rare's newer stuff, you aren't missing out on much. A lot of the people that made Rare so awesome when they were under Nintendo's umbrella are long gone.
Their Xbox 360 stuff was very hit or miss. Kameo was a decent game. And I loved Viva Pinata. Then Microsoft relegated them to making Kinect games, which was a massive mistake. Hopefully now that Rare is back to making "real" games, they can regain some of the glory from their N64 heyday.
I played & beat Ico. I thought it was overrated. I never played SoTC.
My concern about The Last Guardian is more about how long the game has been in development & what little we gamers have even seen of it. Not many games that go through that amount of "develoment hell" turn out to be very good. Duke Nukem Forever, Too Human, Prey (I did really like this one, though) are examples of that.
It's developed an insane amount of hype almost soley based on the fact that some people loved Ico/SoTC, the infamous way it's been teased & it's ridiculous development history.
Hopefully it actually gets released & lives up to fans massive expectations.
The Rare compilation contains 30 games from them released all the way back to the Jetpac days. So even the N64 titles will be on the disc (or discs). It will also contain their Xbox 360 games, which is pretty cool (even though Perfect Dark Zero & the newer Banjo game were massive disappointments to me). And it will cost only $30, apparently.
Yea it's a shame that, because of licensing issues, GoldenEye can't be included in that awrsome Rare compilation the Xbox One is getting. Oh well.
And it's just really sad that the Vita got, basically, zero love this E3. I was hoping (not expecting) Sony would surprise everyone & try another big AAA game for it, but I guess not.
Nah, I was just mentioning that to him. Not you. I knew what you meant. The only comment to you was about the poor Vita. Lol
I just wanted him to know that I am no Nintendo loving, Sony hater. Like I said, I don't stick with one company because they all make great decisions, at times & they all make awful decisions, at times.
I, literally, made 2 comments this thread before this whole situation you refer to. In one, I used the term "fanboy" but edited it due to Tasuki being.......well, Tasuki & I wasn't trying to start an argument. I was just bringing up a point. I already apologized for using the term. Move on.
The 2nd comment was a few bullet points that I felt were relevant. In no way did I attack anyone. They were opinions. If you don't agree with those opinions, so be it. I don't care.
I just had, literally, 8 emails from you editing your comment towards me which is, well.....sad. I already said I thought it's been a great E3 overall (so far), no matter what console you own.
But if you are going to get THIS upset about what some people, you don't even know, say in a comment section of a video game website......then it is I who feels sorry for YOU.
Also, I am no Nintendo guy. I have owned every major console ever released going back to the Atari. So, what I said comes from a gamer's opinion. I have no allegiance to one company.
I wasn't trying to attack anyone or cause anyone any mental anguish by using the term, "fanboy". I apologize if I caused you or anyone else any mental or physical pain with my comment. I have since edited it myself & I will refrain from bring "smart" from now on. Thank you for your time.
@Gemuarto
I used the term, "fanboy", once. So I guess that means, the "Sheriff" gets to do his thing. Lol.
I was also surprised Sony just didn't pony up the $ to make FFVII an exclusive. Oh well. It's good for the industry if all gamers have access to that long-awaited remake.
Microsoft says, "Here have backwards compatability.....for free."
Sony's response? Nothing. They will continue to overcharge you to RENT (not own) PS3 games on the PS4. Not to mention Sony spent millions & millions to buy the technology to stream these rented games.
Microsoft showed lots of games & exclusives that will either come out this year or early next year.
Sony name dropped several "big" titles that showed zero gameplay footage & have no release date in sight. Not to mention, some of these titles are very niche Japanese games, so they may not even be a big deal to some people.
Oh and it's not like the FFVII remake is a PS4 exclusive.
Don't get me wrong......Uncharted 4 will, no doubt, be amazing. And Horizon sounds very interesting. But I think some people at this website have had too much caffeine today if they think this is the greatest E3 conference ever.
I completely agree. I have never seen this level of @#%@#%-ism(edited for Tasuki's sake) in my life. Most of what people are getting excited about is vaporware, at this point.
You weren't the only one disappointed. Don't let these blind Sony fantatics tell you any different.
Horizon does look intetesting, yes. And Uncharted will, most likely, rule. And the FFVII remake will probably be cool.
However, most of this "OMG!!! Last Guardian!!!" talk is ridiculous. Nobody knows if that game will be any good, whatsoever. It's been delayed countless times & has gone through development hell. That almost never ends well, for any game.
Shenmue 3.......there is a reason that series died off & has to resort to Kickstarter to get it going again.....most people don't care. Hardcore Jap game lovers at this site, nonewithstanding.
Media Molecule shows us.......um......something. Also, most of these games aren't even close to being released in the near future, much less showed any gameplay. Most people in this comments section are getting all crazy over something they haven't even seen yet.
Microsoft could've done the same thing......"Coming in 2 yrs from now......(insert game title here)......crowd goes crazy bc they name dropped a title." Snore.
I would vote a "Meh." Sony definitely brought, what they interpet to be, their big guns (they had to since Microsoft slapped them w/ backwards compatability), but apparently I am just not interested in those "guns".
Oh & Sony's continued complete disrespect of the Vita is absolutely disgraceful. What a joke.
In my opinion, the article is click bait. I can't post that opinion? That's ridiculous. Not using foul language, name calling, etc. If you don't agree, I don't care. Whatever. Lol. Great site you have here.
How am I not calm? I made opposing points to this article. So what? How do you know if I am "calm", upset, or whatever? Are you sitting here next to me as I type? Nope. A person can be calm and still argue a point.
So because I disagree with you, you delete a comment (that also had valid points)? I did not swear, name call, verbally atrack anyone at all.
And you deleted my comment, why? I didn't swear or attack anyone. And if you don't like people bringing up opposing arguments to your articles, then maybe you shouldn't write articles like this. What a joke.
The top SIX scoring games are PS3 ports. 8th is Minecraft.
PS4 exclusives:
Killzone: Mercenary - 74 Knack - 54 inFAMOUS: Second Son - 80 Driveclub - 71 (and was released in disgraceful, broken condition) The Order - 65
Yea........when Resogun is still the best PS4 exclusive......that's pathetic. And why would I drop $400 on a console that offers me all that medicrity plus I have to pay $ to play games online? Oh and the wonderful value of PS+ on PS4 is immense......oh wait. Nevermind.
My PS3 just choked on a Blu-Ray laughing at this article.
I agree. The PS3 & Xbox 360 are too expensive for this stage of their life cycle.
However, Sammy's constant pointless "PS3 is dead" articles aside, the PS3 is still a WAY better console than the PS4. That will obviously change, but......in my opinion.....Japan is doing the same thing I am: waiting for Sony to earn my money.
Almost every PS4 exclusive has either been underwhelming or a complete mess. Until Sony gets their act together, I will stick to my massive backlog of awesome games.
I am a fan of the first 2 movies, Mad Max & The Road Warrior (Thunderdome sucked) & have seen them many times. Never did I see any scene where Mel Gibson was kicking people's a$$ the way Batman does in the Arkham games. That is completely ridiculous.
No.......hate Gabe & Pedro......the 2 most annoying characters in videogame history. When I played Revelations 1, I seriously would have rather dipped my controller in battery acid than use those two idiots again.
But people keep praising Revelations 2, & being a huge RE fan since the original, it's starting to intrigue me despite Capcom releasing it in such a ridiculous fashion & despite me feeling the first Revelations was good, but not great.
It's a shame the visuals aren't up to par. That's one thing you can usually count on with the RE series: It will look nice. But, this sounds like it started as a PS3 game that is, quietly, getting a iffy PS4 port....of sorts.
Why would anyone trust Sony with this type of thing at this point?
First off, like someone else said, this reeks of a gaming fad.
Secondly, Sony has shown they will bail on support for a device (not named PlayStation) very quickly if things don't go perfect. The Move & Vita are great examples of this.
Anyone who pays big money for this deserves what will happen to their money.
Oh ok. This game does sound interesting & fun. I normally don't like multiplayer only focused games, but I was thinking about giving this one a shot.
However, with it not being compatible with PSTV, I am not going to buy it. When lots of other indies can find the time to make their games compatible, why should I give $ to the ones that don't? I know it's available on PS3 & 4 too, but this just had "perfect for the Vita" written all over it. Oh well.
I played AC1 & found it to be one of the most overhyped, repetitious games I have ever played. And it had nothing to do with the modern day, Desmond parts.
The game just wasn't that good. I have heard AC2 is, apparently, great........but how this series went annual & still sells, I have no idea. Especially after the Driveclub-like debacle known as Unity.
This site will hype some indie or Japanese game that you have never heard of (and 90% of the gaming world doesn't care about), but they'll make fun of games like Mortal Kombat.
This site will also have "news" articles that are really more opinion blog-like articles where objectivity is thrown out the window.
This is also the biggest PlayStation fanboy site in history, so take some things with a grain of salt. For example, this is the only site I have seen that actually defends DriveClub to a ridiculous degree. You also get about 35,749 articles a month on PS4 sales & how indies are better than AAA games.
So why come here? They are very up to date on news. They give the Vita the attention it deserves. They review almost everything PlayStation related. The site also has a lot of actual hardcore gamers that frequent it, so the level of complete idiotic, casual gamers is kept to a minimum. And even though you clearly are not a fan of Sammy, he does write some good articles.
Just because I call it like I see it, doesn't mean I didn't enjoy my PS1, 2, & 3. I even enjoy my PSTV, even though Sony is doing nothing to support it.
If you don't like my opinions, I don't care. Don't read them.

I think both companies held a lot back. I am sure Sony is reading the next God Of War & maybe whatever Sony Bend is working on.
And I am sure Microsoft will have Scalebound ready to show & maybe Quantum Break or Crackdown.
Either way, the longer this is a 2 or 3 horse race......so to speak.....the better it is for us gamers.

And you deleted my comment, why? I didn't swear or attack anyone. And if you don't like people bringing up opposing arguments to your articles, then maybe you shouldn't write articles like this. What a joke.
Re: Talking Point: Is This the End for the PlayStation 3?
@mitcHELLspawn
Not angry........bro. Just making points and opinions.......bro.
Re: Talking Point: Is This the End for the PlayStation 3?
That was unnecessary, if you are looking to start an argument take it elsewhere. Thanks -Tasuki-
Re: Talking Point: Is This the End for the PlayStation 3?
PS4 games Metacritic scores:
The top SIX scoring games are PS3 ports.
8th is Minecraft.
PS4 exclusives:
Killzone: Mercenary - 74
Knack - 54
inFAMOUS: Second Son - 80
Driveclub - 71 (and was released in disgraceful, broken condition)
The Order - 65
Yea........when Resogun is still the best PS4 exclusive......that's pathetic. And why would I drop $400 on a console that offers me all that medicrity plus I have to pay $ to play games online? Oh and the wonderful value of PS+ on PS4 is immense......oh wait. Nevermind.
My PS3 just choked on a Blu-Ray laughing at this article.
Re: Talking Point: Is This the End for the PlayStation 3?
@ztpayne7
Re: Round Up: Zombie Army Trilogy PS4 Reviews Rise from Their Grave
I still don't forgive Rebellion for screwing up Aliens Vs. Predator, so this is a no go for me.
Plus, the amount of zombie games out there is WAY past overkill at this point.
Re: Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo Are Working Together to Stop DDoS Attacks
This is good if it helps prevent the little $*£&$ that cause these problems from doing it again.
So now we just need the companies to combine Nathan Drake, Master Chief, & Mario into one mega-sized uber-game & we'll be good to go!
Re: You'll Have to Find Food and Water to Survive in PS4's Mad Max, Plus More Dusty Gameplay Details
@Kage_88
Exactly!
I am a fan of the first 2 movies, Mad Max & The Road Warrior (Thunderdome sucked) & have seen them many times. Never did I see any scene where Mel Gibson was kicking people's a$$ the way Batman does in the Arkham games. That is completely ridiculous.
This game is going to suck. Badly.
Re: Review: Resident Evil: Revelations 2 - Episode Two: Contemplation (PlayStation 4)
@Kage_88
Re: Project Morpheus Will Change the Way You Play PS4 in 2016
Why would anyone trust Sony with this type of thing at this point?
First off, like someone else said, this reeks of a gaming fad.
Secondly, Sony has shown they will bail on support for a device (not named PlayStation) very quickly if things don't go perfect. The Move & Vita are great examples of this.
Anyone who pays big money for this deserves what will happen to their money.
Re: Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Will Snog Your PS4 in May
@NomNom
I felt the same way. I am fine with my Vita version that only cost me $20. This $40 crap is nonsense.
Re: Sony: Free-to-Play Will Become a Big Chunk of Our Revenues in the Future
@BLPs
Yea, Bill Gates may be getting tiny bit richer from me if Sony continues to.baffle me with idiotic nonsense like this "vision".
Re: PS4's Wolfenstein: The New Order Is Getting a Prequel
Now THIS is how you should do DLC.
Well done, Bethesda.
Re: Review: Helldivers (PlayStation 4)
@ShogunRok
Oh well.
Re: Review: Helldivers (PlayStation 4)
@ShogunRok
Slowdown when there are 4 players & the action is really hectic?
Um, isn't that supposed to be, basically, the whole point of this game? 4 player co-op, intense action shooter?
Re: March's Free PlayStation Plus Games include Oddworld PS4, OlliOlli 2, and Valiant Hearts
@freaksloan
Exactly. This lineup is a steaming pile of $*€^, even if you throw in the PS4 games.
Xbox's Games With Gold sees this lineup of indies and continues to laugh at Sony's incompetence.
Re: Review: Helldivers (PlayStation 4)
For anyone intetested.......Helldivers IS NOT PSTV compatible.
So, Arrowhead Studios just lost a sale.
Re: Dragon Quest Heroes Is Getting Free Expanded Story DLC
@rjejr
Skies Of Arcadia was amazing. How has it not been re-done in HD?!!
Sega is being run by idiots.
Re: Mortal Kombat X May Yet Have 2015's Campest Campaign
I think it's great that Mortal Kombat has a story mode. I don't even play fighting games anymore because most of them are pure garbage single player.
Re: Ubisoft's Going to Put More Modern Day Stuff in Future Assassin's Creed Games
Re: Ratchet & Clank PS4 Is Further Along Than You Think, and Is Gorgeous
I could care less about the movie. But a R&C game is something the PS4 needs.
Re: Mortal Kombat X May Yet Have 2015's Campest Campaign
@Nickolaidas
You have to understand how this website works:
Re: UK Sales Charts: PS4 Exclusive The Order: 1886 Flags Down a Cab in First
Being #1 in sales for the week means squat. Like Hollywood movies, big releases rarely come out during the same week so this news isn't really news.
I really hope the game is actually good. It's my kind of game & I love story-based games. I don't really care how long it is as long as it's fun.
Re: Review: AeternoBlade (PlayStation Vita)
This game sounds interesting, but it's getting awful review scores.
Re: Sony Suggests It Will Be Streamlining Its Day One PS4 Patches
@thedevilsjester
Just because I call it like I see it, doesn't mean I didn't enjoy my PS1, 2, & 3. I even enjoy my PSTV, even though Sony is doing nothing to support it.
If you don't like my opinions, I don't care. Don't read them.
Re: Sony: We Were Absolutely Distraught at DriveClub's Launch
Yea same whiny, apologetic b.s. Sony has said before. I got an apology for ya Sony......
I am sorry for never buying a product from Evolution Studios in the future.
Oh wait......so not sorry. Nevermind.
