@AdamNovice “Will never understand how MS buying publishers and keeping their games exclusive is ok but Sony having timed exclusives isn't.”
Both of these practices are perfectly acceptable. It’s annoying when your preferred box doesn’t get a game, but this is how the business has worked forever. I’ll never forget when I found out FF7 was coming to PS instead of N64. Such a bummer when I was a kid.
So funny that this internal review was absolutely glowing and heaped monumental praise on this game, yet here they are getting bashed for one single criticism they had. Sounds familiar.
It’s only on PS5. It’s player base is minuscule compared to all other platforms. Even Xbox series X would have the advantage of also releasing on pc. Coming in 2nd is quite good, considering.
@Grumblevolcano And it’s also why Outriders has been such a massive success. I didn’t have any interest in the game, but I gave it a try, and I love it.
I’m playing the game for the first time on Xbox and started with Road to the Show. I thought that progress was ridiculously slow, but just figured I was in it for the long haul. Glad to hear it will be accelerated a bit. Now I’m awaiting the patch that makes it so I don’t suck at batting.
I really don’t think Sony would be doing this if they weren’t struggling with public perception right now, but I love being the benefactor of all these free games. Lost Legacy would definitely be appreciated.
I can tell the difference side by side, but in all honesty, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if you didn’t tell me. The remaster just looks like how I REMEMBER the original looking. But any excuse to play the ME trilogy again is fine by me...
@JohnKarnes Not everybody wants it, but I’m sure a lot of people would welcome it. Just because you didn’t see anything for you on GPU, doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty there for others. GPU has mad the Xbox my primary machine for the time being. For $100 a year, I have access to tons of great games. They aren’t all 3rd person cinematic adventure games, so if that’s all you want to play, it probably isn’t the service for you. I still have my PS5, and I have no complaints. But until R&C and Horizon comes out, I’m just letting my son play on it, while I play a ridiculous assortment of games.
I loved the first tLoU, but to be perfectly honest, the sequel kind of made the games not replayable for me. It was a good game, but not the type of story I like to experience multiple times. My tLoU gaming days are behind me, and I don’t really have anymore interest in those stories.
I actually played through the entire trilogy last year, right before news of the remaster leaked. Annoying. ME2 is my favorite game of all time. I still think the ending to ME3 is very poorly written and, overall, not a very satisfying conclusion to an epic trilogy. With the extended cut dlc, it didn’t suck as bad as the original release though, and I did enjoy running through the trilogy again. It has been a few years.
@Omniicron “Also the fact they are rented so if you decide to play it 4 months into it's cycle and it vanishes on you, you'd be pissed. Owning games in your library like on PS Plus in the way.”
You own the games you get on PS+? I actually thought they went away after you stopped the sub. Thanks for the head’s up! I never got around to Shadow of Colossus remake before my sub lapsed and just assumed I didn’t have access to it anymore. Checking it out today. Thanks!
Sony is still doing great. Xbox is finally doing some great things. In that sense, Xbox is “gaining ground”. Xbox offers tremendous value with GPU and their massive number of studios, but they still won’t sell more consoles than PS. Nothing wrong with having two quality consoles to play.
I’ve decided to wait until they all come out and play the definitive collection. I want to make sure they finish all the remakes before committing. I also think 7 is a bit overrated in general. 6 is my favorite, then 9, 4, 12, 8, then 7 for me. I thought 10 wasn’t very good. 15 was okay. I couldn’t even get through 13, but I hear I should’ve stuck with it as it opens up 20 hours in.
@MemSec I don’t think MLB is nearly as concerned about the money from these sales as much as getting as many people as possible to play their property. Gamepass is a great way to get a lot of people to play.
@viciousarcanum I have GPU, and I’ve never paid full price. Typically around $90-$120 a year ($7.50-$10.00 a month) if you get it on sale. $180 a year is for chumps.
@everynowandben I prefer the removable batteries of the Xbox myself, though I love the new PS5 controller overall. I have 4 eneloop rechargeable, that I just cycle out when my batteries die. They’re right next to the couch. When the battery dies, I reach down, switch them out, and boom, never have to wire up the controller. I’ve been using the eneloop batteries for 6 years now. Obviously, it’s all personal preference.
@BadPlayerOne I don’t agree with you here, but I respect your take. I think in the end, we know that Xbox was dying. I personally love their games. I think Gears is still great and looks beautiful. Ori and Sunset Overdrive were fantastic. The Forza series continues to impress. Sea of Thieves is a blast if you have friends to play with. BUT they still are viewed as having no games. They really needed to make a splash and do something disruptive to get noticed. I think they’ve done that with Bethesda and GP. We’ll see if it works out. Personally, GPU has been great for me, and to more people the subscribe, the more money they can put into the service. More games for less money is something I’m completely on board with. I still have my PS5 for all the cinematic experiences, though. God of War was my favorite game of the generation.
@Exlee300p I absolutely agree with you on the Ps+. The free games lately have all been bangers. I already owned FF7 remake and Control Ultimate, but I popped them in the library anyway. I’m actually really excited to get to Maneater, but I’ve been busy Ghost of Tsushima. Xbox might as well drop their games with gold. The quality has gone to crap since they have put all their focus on GPU.
@awp69 Agreed. I really enjoy both sites, but these are the articles that have the best comment sections to read. Push Square also has about 4x the traffic, so the comment sections are much more active.
@Exlee300p I respectfully disagree. The Gamepass model might not be for everybody, but I love it, and I love the ability to browse and play games I otherwise wouldn’t have played. I don’t care at all about owning my games. I love playing games and moving onto the next one. In the rare case that I want to replay a game down the road, if it isn’t on GPU, I’ll probably be able to pick it up cheap. Television has gone the way of streaming, and people have adjusted to that model, and the streaming services are making much higher quality content than what I use to watch on tv 20 years ago. I also think that Sony fans would fully embrace this model if they offered it for PS owners. I have no problem paying for Sony’s 1st party titles. They are definitely worth the price of admission, but GPU has definitely caused me to primarily play on the Xbox.
@BadPlayerOne I think you’re being a bit dramatic here. What MS is doing today, is no different from what Sony did to Nintendo back in the day. Sony was the big tech company throwing money around. I remember people complaining about the move to disc media. Everyone turned out fine.
The combat in GoT is sublime. I probably won’t play it again, but I enjoyed my time with it and had a blast exploring Tsushima. Looking forward to the sequel.
@Subsided This sounds harsh, but I’m not going to lie, I don’t have evidence against it. I got an Xbox at launch no problem. A month later, I decided to get a Ps5. The very first time I attempted it, I got it and picked it up at the Target 2 hrs later. I really had no problem at all getting either of them.
Always tough to justify when the competition is getting more value for the same or less money. This is why I never played Avengers on my Xbox. Im a huge Avengers fan, but the Spiderman dlc was enough to completely sour me to the game.
@Old-Red That’s literally what PS did with Spiderman and Final Fantasy. I love me some PlayStation IPs, but I most certainly don’t feel sorry for Sony over this. MS doesn’t have the leverage Sony has because of their smaller market share. They have to pay MUCH more for exclusives because of a smaller user base. We know building up IPs from scratch can take decades. Game Pass would be long dead by then. I think this is a brilliant move on MS’s part.
I’ve gone digital because it gets me two copies for the price of one. Both my son and I can play together. If I did physical, I’d have to buy 2 copies.
@BranJ0 ME2 is my favorite game of all time. I’m in the camp that the ending of ME3 is poor, but it was made passable by the extended cut ending. ME2 and ME3 has some of the best dlc ever in video games (not Witcher 3 good, though). It also helps they announced ME4, which gives me hope that they will retroactively fix the ending of ME3. I played the entire trilogy again last year, and it still holds up really well.
Fortunate enough to snag a PS5 and Series X. I absolutely loved playing Astro’s on it (skating on ice was so satisfying) and I’d be very interested in playing more games designed around the dualsense, but overall I prefer the feel of the and layout of the Xbox controller. I’ll probably stick to Xbox for my 3rd party purchases unless I see that dual sense makes a massive difference in gameplay. Can’t wait for Horizon 2 to drop.
I have both the XB1 and PS4, though I primarily play on the Xbox (I actually own four XB1’s for my family). If these games go to PS5, I’ll probably jump ship on Xbox. Why buy two consoles to play all the games, if I can just buy a PS5 an play all of the games. Yes, PS5 games are $70 at launch, but I have no problem waiting for the inevitable $20 price tag. I can buy a lot of games with the $500 I save.
@Flaming_Kaiser I agree with this. Just because a game is great, doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. For as much as I love Fallout, I find Skyrim kind of dull. And as much as I love HZD, I did not like tLoU2 at all (though I did love the first one). It’s weird that gamers often think everybody should like the same stuff they like.
@lacerz I have PS Now as well. It’s pretty good. My 10 year old really gets into a lot of retro games and we play them together on that. That said, it doesn’t have 23 1st party studios putting out content on it along with a few 2nd party studios, but PS Now is priced appropriately so I have no complaints. I really don’t think of it as a direct competitor to Game Pass, though.
@3MonthBeef I mean, I have a PS5 coming and love their games, but I also love Xbox games and Game Pass. It’s tough to pay $70 for a game knowing I have 250+ games on GP I could play. Obviously, all 250+ games aren’t my style, but I can easily find 10 games I’ll love on the service. Each time MS buys a studio, it’s just more games I don’t have to spend $70 on.
@BAMozzy I think you can add “TVs with a Game Pass app” to your list. I imagine Samsung and MS will announce a deal in the near future that Samsung TVs will ship with the GP app installed. Just hook your controller up with Bluetooth and start playing. MS is pushing GP, and they want people to play anywhere that GP is able to be installed. I’m sure MS is more than willing to put GP on PS5 if Sony will let them.
@viciousarcanum This is probably why he doesn’t want to commit to an answer. He looks like a fool if they change their minds based on business. That’s what happened when Phil talked about VR, but because VR didn’t take off like a rocket they backed off. I think that’s also what happened when Sony decided to go cross gen with Spiderman and Horizon. Not committing one way or another about cross platform will only tick off PS4/PS5 owners who aren’t going to get an Xbox which are the last people he needs to worry about.
@Octane The problem with this method is it just takes too long. Gamers are impatient. People are making fun of Xbox because they won’t have any games for over a year. Building new quality studios from the ground up can take a decade. They won’t sell any Game Passes when they’re promising that games will be arriving in 10 years, when they’re getting negative press for not having games until 2022.

@get2sammyb I think he doesn’t want to say that because he wants to leave that option open just in case. Realistically, one could play it natively on Xbox or PC, then there is the option to use xcloud to play it on phones and tablets (iOS probably included), pc, and probably using a tv app by the time these games come out. No gamer will have an excuse not to play it if they really want to and no Xbox needed.
Not a huge fan of this. My favorites in the series are 4,6, and 9. I prefer the whimsical fantasy. Those entries were all more light-hearted, and it’s just my FF preference. That said, they can do what they want, and an M rating certainly won’t keep me from playing it.
