@Totheteeth Reddit is not even remotely representative of the actual player base of these games. MK11 sold 15+ million copies, no one is losing sleep over what a couple dozen guys on reddit think.
Actually, let me amend that first part. Reddit isn't actually representative of ANYTHING, ever. A good rule of thumb is that if any community on reddit is up in arms over anything, those people are a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the total people engaging with that thing.
You're only speaking for yourself, and the only pushback NRS has ever received for guest characters was for putting Raiden in Injustice 2. These guest characters sell very well, bring the games a ton of good press, and the studio clearly enjoys doing them...the only person mad about them, it would seem, is you.
@belmont Dude, we get it, you're ignorant to the media these crossover characters are pulling from. Just because YOU don't know about them doesn't make them unpopular/uninteresting and ALL of this is rumors, literally NONE of it has been confirmed except for the Van Damme skin for Johnny.
Finished it a few hours ago and f'n loved every second. It won't win any awards, but sometimes everything lines up perfectly and a game comes along that feels like the devs tailor made it for you. That's how I feel about Dead Island 2 and it's absolutely going to end up on my top 10 of the year, if not my top 5.
I mean, AC6 has been in development as far back as 2016. So, no, an August release isn't super surprising, and yes I do expect to see it at Keighley's show in June
@Wheatly All the crafting stuff goes into the "open-world cruft" category for me. Things like the crafting, strike mini-game, the racing, and the audio-logs and yadda yadda yadda, all just felt like bloat that had no real purpose other than to pad out playtime and distract from the fact that the game has very little going on narratively.
@Uncharted2007 That was honestly my second biggest issue with Forbidden West, it's just so incredibly bloated with entirely uninspired open-world video game filler bs that it kind of killed my interest. Zero Dawn was a big game, but it never felt like it lost focus and was just spinning its wheels. Forbidden West, for me, was so loaded down with mini-games, endless fetch quests, mario kart style races, crafting material hunts dictated entirely by rng, far too many collectibles, etc., etc., etc that it never found its focus and only ever spun its wheels. I put 90 hours in to it, and I genuinely enjoyed maybe 20 of those.
@AgentMantis I would argue that it's too dense and busy to be as good looking as it thinks it is. Fidelity wise it's incredible, but it's so unnecessarily cluttered and dense that it ends up looking muddy and unreadable half the time.
@KidRyan They're pretty easy to explain. You start with a beginner mech, go on missions to earn money, then spend money to buy new parts and upgrade said mech. Missions are pretty linear, go in and destroy X number of enemies, or rescue a friendly, or kill one specific enemy mech, etc. No open world stuff, very minimal exploration, just straightforward "complete X" objective to finish a mission. Post game is mostly just the Arena, one-on-one fights with enemy mechs. It's all about stat balancing and building the most OP mech you can afford to.
@somnambulance To be fair, the Souls games were the big departure, as there were 13 Armored Core titles before Demon's Souls existed. This is From's OG baby (preceded only by King's Field), and as someone who doesn't particularly enjoy Souls games and Souls-likes, I'm hopeful that they stay true to what AC is.
@KidRyan It could be, but the series has always been rated T, so that rating is likely just a placeholder. Either way, AC has never been vulgar or even particularly violent, so an E10 rating wouldn't be terribly surprising.
@somnambulance I would not go in expecting much Souls influence. I'm sure it'll have elements, but they've stated that there was not a conscience decision to make AC more like a Souls game. There will likely be some of that in the systems, but I anticipate anyone going in expecting it to play like a Souls game is going to be disappointed.
@somnambulance AC doesn't really compare to what folks think of as a modern FromSoft game, at least not historically. They can be difficult, but not to the degree of a Souls style game, and when they do it's almost always because your build isn't optimized for the mission.
I already regret investing in the PS5 as it is, and all of Jim Ryan's crybaby whinging would be enough to turn me off PS altogether at this point if it weren't for Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine, the only announced 1st party titles I care about.
@Ludacritz Nope...not sure why they wrote the headline that way. As far as Crystal/S-E have said, at least so far, it isn't being delisted it just won't be officially supported after Sept.
@BrotherFilmriss Oh don't misunderstand, Code Veronica is awful, which is exactly why it should be remade. And I'm right there with you on Mr. X in remake 2, he sucks.
I'm a Resident Evil diehard. I've played through every single entry multiple times...not just the mainlines, literally all of them. RE1 is the reason I bought a PS1, and for multiple generations what console Resident Evil was on was a large determining factor in which consoles I purchased. I'm about as hardcore an RE fan as you're likely to find.
That said, I didn't love RE2 remake as much as most (though it's still an incredible game), and enjoyed RE3 remake far more than seemingly everyone (RE3 is my favorite of the originals), and I was one of the people who did not think RE4 needed a remake at all...especially when we have something like CVX that's literally begging for a remake. Regardless, I just replayed the PC version of RE4 twice last week so it was fresh and I could do the ol' compare and contrast as I played through the remake.
Color me legit shocked that RE4 remake nails basically everything. I don't even know what to say about it that hasn't already been said in all the glowing reviews, it's just top to bottom excellent and is about as perfect a remake as anyone could ask for.
While I would happily take Dino Crisis and Onimusha remakes, I really just want new entries.
As for Resident Evil, CODE: Veronica NEEDS the remake treatment the most as it's in the worst shape (by modern standards) of all the pre-RE4 titles. It's ugly, feels terrible to play, and the writing/performances are atrocious...but, the majority of CV's development was outsourced, which is why I think Capcom treats it like the black sheep of the series and why I don't think they'll go back to it...which is a shame.
If I were a betting man, I'd put money on them going back to RE1, just so they can have easily accessible, modern versions of all the early mainline titles.
Either Paramount or Nickelodeon announced that a new "AAA" TMNT game was launching this year alongside the new movie...and that turned out to be some bs Roblox tie-in thing, so you'll excuse me for having literally zero trust in this.
The models look really good but, no alt-styles, no loading screen, no glider, lame pickaxes, super boring back bling, AND it costs more than the Chris/Jill bundle did...very disappointing.
Just finished it and...look, I think the game is going to be incredible, but I don't think this is a great demo. It's literally just the intro, and if you've ever played RE4 before you've played almost this exact thing. Granted, it's much prettier now and has better controls, but it's nearly identical to the original in terms of what you're doing and how it plays out. You can't even explore the village, it's entirely on rails and once it's over, it's over. It might be a good selling point for people who have never touched RE4 before, but if you have, it's probably best just to wait for the full game.
For my money, Synth Riders is what I wanted Beat Saber to be. The gameplay isn't as immediately fun as BS, but the music choices are, imo, infinitely better.
I finally realized a few years ago that, outside of a couple of very specific examples, I just do not care at all about this type of Fantasy.
I'm totally on board with the combat system and the summons being a huge part of the game, but I watch the trailers and see extremely generic looking characters talking about their duty to protect their kingdoms and uphold their honor and f'ing blah blah blah and...nope...I'm 100% out.
Basically anything that's about a bunch of people either fighting over land or trying to convince each other to unite their lands...good God, I could not possibly care any less.
Ah, cool, look...another game people have just universally and preemptively decided is The Worst Thing Ever™ not because it looks bad (it doesn't) but because it isn't exactly the same thing Rocksteady did previously.
We have known this for a long, long time. WB Montreal confirmed SS was a live game like a year ago when people were complaining about Gotham Knights, saying it was definitely a GaaS, so WBM straight up said GK wasn't, SS was.
@Flaming_Kaiser I expect we'll start hearing about the World sequel later this year, and it'll be out early next year. World had a very long tail, and Rise has had an even longer tail because of the staggered releases and updates, but I'm guessing it'll start winding down once Sunbreak is out on PS and Xbox in the coming months.
Nope, I have multiple Monster Hunters...why would I want a lesser version of something I already have?
I've watched a few hours of gameplay and the amount of comments to the effect of "I could never get into Monster Hunter, but I'm LOVING Wild Hearts" is kind of baffling to me. One review I watched, from a channel and people I love and trust, were giving all the reasons they're enjoying it and I was just like...you guys are straight up just describing MH Rise, like almost exactly.
@fournexus They tried multiple times. Not only did they do the PS3 3DTV back in 2012 (which, not for nothing, was a pretty great 1080p tv with native 120Hz refresh rate), but they also made a 720p 22" tv with a built in PS2 back in 2010 (Bravia KDL-22PX300), AND had a line of just stupid expensive TVs back in 2014 that has Playstation Now streaming built in.
Soundcore VR P10's are the go-to if you want a good pair of earbuds for gaming that doesn't have the annoying BT-related lag. I picked them up because I found Sony's own Pulse headset for PS5 all but unusable. They sound great but, as a glasses wearer, they're so ridiculously uncomfortable that I couldn't wear them for more than an hour at a time.
The VR P10s are well priced, sound good, and the gimmick of being paired via bluetooth OR the included dongle works perfectly with literally anything that's got a USB-C port. Plus, you can get extra dongles for $15 and a single set of buds can be paired with up to 4 dongles swap between them on the fly.
Great, something to look forward to in...2026/2027?
Hey devs, STOP ANNOUNCING SH*T SO EARLY!
@trev666 Not really, no.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was a flop. Ultimate Alliance 3 did pretty well, but that's the Switch bump. Avengers actually lost Square-Enix money. Guardians of the Galaxy was another Square-Enix "disappointment" (whatever that means). Midnight Suns was a dud. If it's not LEGO or Spider-Man, no one cares.
@RudeAnimat0r I am that dedicated Marvel stan that's been reading comics for 40 years and knows all these characters inside and out, adores everything Firaxis does, and was hyped as hell for this game...and I absolutely hate it.
I wanted a hardcore Marvel strategy game, not a terribly written dead-eyed mannequin Marvel dating sim with a poorly thought out and tacked-on feeling deck-building strategy mini-game it lets you play between fishing with Iron Man and watching the sunset with Magik.
I think it tries something super interesting, and fails about as spectacularly as a thing can fail.
"Live Service" is basically a misnomer at this point.
It's 2023, damn near every game is a "live service". It's not just Destiny or COD or Fortnite or stuff with battle passes and seasons...Assassin's Creed is a "live" game, Monster Hunter is a "live" game. Dead Cells is still being supported with new content 5 years post launch, that could be considered a live service. Anything that gets regular updates that add new content is a "live service" game.
So when Sony says they have 10 "live service" games in development, that doesn't necessarily mean they have 10 Destiny-alikes in development.
@NEStalgia It's 100% a stylistic choice on the devs part. I love the art style and think it looks rad as hell, but that's entirely subjective. Either way, it's one of the best VR games around.
I need to get back to it. Put in around 4 hours, and had multiple crashes so I put it down to wait for patches...but, I'll be honest, it really wasn't grabbing me the same way 2018 did.
Everyone dunking on Square-Enix's loss here...who cares, they'll be fine.
What about Crystal Dynamics? They had to give up finishing their own Tomb Raider Trilogy to work on Avengers, only to have that killed by bad management, rigid IP guidelines, and overzealous sales expectations...and now they're seemingly losing Tomb Raider as well? Is Embracer just selling the IP to Amazon, are they just selling the multimedia rights, or is everything going to Amazon?
All of these situations sound bad for Crystal, who just can't seem to catch a break.
@B_Lindz It's real easy to forget that the internet echo chamber isn't real life, and the overwhelming majority of people do not follow gaming news at all. For every actual "dead game", there 10 internet proclaimed "dead games" that hundreds of thousands (if not millions) are still playing consistently.
I was legit hyped for Midnight Suns and it did everything I wanted a Marvel strategy game to do...and did them all in the worst possible way. I hate it, like...genuinely, truly hate it. I put 100 hours into Gotham Knights, and that is not a good game, but I genuinely couldn't stomach more than 10 hours of Midnight Suns.
I desperately wanted XCOM3 (THEY TEASED TERROR FROM THE DEEP IN XCOM 2!!!), but after the disappointment of Chimera Squad and Midnight Suns, I don't know I entirely trust them anymore.
@n1n0dan There are many, many controllers that are vastly superior to the Dualsense Edge, have software suites that allow you to remap and customize every single button/stick/trigger, cost a fraction of what Sony is asking, and some of them even work flawlessly on multiple platforms.
$200 for a marginally better (and marginally worse) version of a controller I already don't enjoy using?
No no, Hell no.
@Nepp67 These aren't using the drift-proof hall effect sensors, they're the exact same sticks that the standard Dualsense is using, so these will drift eventually, too...except now you have the option to buy replacement stick modules directly from Sony for a substantial markup!
@ScepticDK I love it when people who know less than nothing about comics whine about comics. Kamala has been around for a decade, the game didn't invent her, she's one of the very few new characters introduced in the past 20 years that's actually broken through to mainstream popularity and calling her an "uninteresting little girl" does nothing but show your ignorance and bigotry.
I logged 300+ hours on Switch, and another 150+ on PC (rushing through vanilla to get to Sunbreak). I'm not buying it again on PS, but I would highly suggest it to anyone interested!

@OrtadragoonX They can't make outside deals, and don't have the money for anything, they're wholly owned by Embracer Group.
If Embracer sells them, or their IP, or both, there's nothing anyone who works there can do, except voice their concerns to management and/or quit.
Re: Rumour: Amazon Buys Tomb Raider for Twice the Price of Embracer's Square Enix Buyout
Re: Blizzard Concedes Overwatch 2 Ranked Mode Suffers from 'Poor Comprehension'
@B_Lindz It's real easy to forget that the internet echo chamber isn't real life, and the overwhelming majority of people do not follow gaming news at all. For every actual "dead game", there 10 internet proclaimed "dead games" that hundreds of thousands (if not millions) are still playing consistently.
Re: XCOM Director Breaks Hearts, Confirms No New Titles Currently in Development
Re: Poll: Did You Buy a DualSense Edge?
@n1n0dan There are many, many controllers that are vastly superior to the Dualsense Edge, have software suites that allow you to remap and customize every single button/stick/trigger, cost a fraction of what Sony is asking, and some of them even work flawlessly on multiple platforms.
Re: Poll: Did You Buy a DualSense Edge?
$200 for a marginally better (and marginally worse) version of a controller I already don't enjoy using?
No no, Hell no.
@Nepp67 These aren't using the drift-proof hall effect sensors, they're the exact same sticks that the standard Dualsense is using, so these will drift eventually, too...except now you have the option to buy replacement stick modules directly from Sony for a substantial markup!
Re: Marvel's Avengers Support Officially Ends in September, Three Years After Release
Re: Get Your First Glimpse of Dracula's Castle in This Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania Teaser
Dead Cells is one of my most played games ever so, yeah, I'm super, super psyched!
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Monster Hunter Rise on PS5, PS4?
I logged 300+ hours on Switch, and another 150+ on PC (rushing through vanilla to get to Sunbreak). I'm not buying it again on PS, but I would highly suggest it to anyone interested!
