Bluepoint could have been working in something we all wanted, but instead they just close them down. It is a complete disgrace. A fantastically written article. This is how I have felt about Sony since the closure of Japan Studio. They are a hugely capitalist company and the creativity we saw throughout the PS3 and 4 generation has almost not been seen this gen.

Sony is the new Microsoft. Sony, a multi-billion company mismanage a very talented team and then just shut it down when there is already a barren 1st party release schedule. They could have had them working on the Bloodborne remake everyine wants but Sony has turned into a greedy disgrace.

It is never good to bastardise a franchise. Look what happened with Final Fantasy and Call of Duty.

@bizzysgs The story was good but the conversation shallow and basic. The turn based battles were much more cerebral. The past games had epic villains. By tying to appeal more to the West it lost its identity.

Their biggest franchise, Final Fantasy has become unrecognisable. The did a Disney and completely bastardised it. The release of a main game is not that exciting. Instead of evolving the base mainline games, they transformed it into something completely unrecognisable. Hopefully they will return the series to its roots.

@LogicStrikesAgain Some artists have put their heart in soul into creating this game. Wanting their work to fail is just nasty. We have seen what happens to these artists when their game fails with closures and job losses. Fingers crossed it resonates with those who like shooters.

Nintendo has not reduced the price later in the consoles lifespan. If they did they could overtake the target but corporate greed means they don't deserve that achievement. Sony reduced the price of PS2 later into its life cycle.

Sales of X box or not significant enough to release on that platform. Also exclusives create competition and drive creativity and create cobsoke sales. This is something that Microsoft never understood and is the biggest reason the are trailing behind competition.

I thought they were going to stop milking tbeur franchises to the point of bastardisation and focus on quality again?

The first game was beautiful but with the usual oh so repetitive open world game design, especially if you wanted to fully complete it. I want to see if they have actually fixed this before pre-ordering

XI S was peak for me. It would be hard to go back. I wished they would remake IX though.

People angry a game is a couple of hours late..... Some people are so entitled. Some people can't get food just now without fear and others are crying like a baby because a video game was a couple of hours late.

This chart does not look right to me. I find it hard to believe Mario Kart World is not in the top 20.

The X-Box install base is not great. With Sony now having the monopoly on AAA gaming, I worry gaming will become stale, even more so than it is already.

Casting looks spot on, but I am more concerned about the director and producer tbh.

Squeenix completely batardised the FF Franchise with many, many, many substandard games. Think trying to appeal to a Western fanbase, it lost its charm. If the option for turn based battles as well as real time combat was there, it woukd bevso much better.

Literally just leave the perfect mechanics as they are but with modern graphics and it cabt fail. It was always a perfect technical fighter.

Last i read they were going to make it real time combat.. Hopefully the popularity of Claire Obscure Expidition 33 will make them include turn based battles.

Apart from a few missteps, Capcom has always made great games from the very beginning. They have always been a top tier developer.

I hate that there will be no real competition for Sony apart from Nintendo who always do their own thing. It was competition that drive creativity of game production.

5 million copies on Sony's system alone is remarkable? Therefore the other 15 million were on PC?

The original 3D Ninja Gaiden was a masterpiece. Many sections with a fixed camera angle so you could maneuver more and know where enemies where. But I could never get on with 2 as the camera is so atrocious and I hate when I die in a game through no fault of my own.

Working to bring them back equates to "bringing them back but at a cost to those who want them".

Microsoft going multiplatform is great for PS5 gamers but it is not good for the industry. Without competition, Sony will have the monopoly on big budget AAA gaming and there will be no competition to drive quality.

Since MS failed, we have already seen Sony get greedy with their failed live service model with countless games cancelled.

Competition is very healthy for the gaming industry.

I think it is the best JRPG I ever played (it just needed a hard mode). You really felt like you were on an adventure. The characters and story are fantastic and it has a great turn based battles mechanic. The soundtrack was also epic. It was the best game on the Dreamcast by a huge margin. I am very excited to play this on Switch 2.

With no competition, will Sony keep with pioneering output? Microsoft lost touch with gamers and their 1st party output felt like 3rd party gamibg tbh. They killed Rare, Lionhead, Bizarre and many other beloved studios.

But now with no competition apart from Nintendo, but they do their own thing and I doubt there is any beating them now, will Sony continue to pioneer?

A polished turd is still a turd. Angel of Darkness is an awful game. Tomb Raider 4 however is one of the best games from the PSO era. I just wished we could be it seperate from the other 2.

This has not been a good generation for Sony. Bare-bones remasters (TLoU2 I am looking at you), a new mid generation upgrade with no new game to show its capabilities, closure of talented studios working on projects from Sony's instruction, purchase of studios with a bad reputation and now this. We are now in the 5th year of PS5 and how many 1st party exclusives have we had that has made us go 'Wow'? I can barely tell the difference bwtween PS5 and the best games on PS4 Pro. During the PS3 and PS4 we had so many industry leading games. Now we have this mess and closures of beloved studios such as Japan Studio.

Really I am losing faith in them as a company. Thank God Switch 2 is on the horizon for the core gamer looking for the next gaming experience.
