Prince of Persia The Lost Crown Dev Team

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was one of those games that seemed to go down really, really well with everyone who played it — but it just couldn't shift enough copies to satisfy its corporate overlords.

The very highly-rated side-scrolling action game released back in January 2024, and by the end of the year, we had confirmation of Ubisoft's decision to disband its development team — much to the frustration of its fans.

But now, the same French journalist who shared the bad news back then is claiming that Ubisoft is ready to give The Lost Crown's "core team" another shot.

Said reporter, who goes by the name Gautoz on social media, says that the publisher will be accepting pitches for "game ideas" from the team.

There are currently no additional details on the kind of projects that are going to be presented — so if something does come of this, it won't necessarily have anything to do with Prince of Persia.

Gautoz also clarifies that "core team" refers to the main creatives who spearheaded The Lost Crown from the start. That's "not a huge group", apparently, but "they'll bring others on board as they go".

Here's hoping that the team does get another chance, because it's always felt like The Lost Crown deserved more time in the spotlight.

We do wonder whether this decision stems from Ubisoft's company-wide restructuring. There's been word of numerous studios being chopped and changed to better manage the publisher's production pipelines, and last we heard, Prince of Persia is still considered a major IP.
