Re: Popular PlayStation Network Classics Cost Just $0.99 in US This Weekend

@ztpayne7 Pretty great, actually. They don't do much that others didn't do, but it does everything pretty well, and I thought its battle system was neat. Oh, and the split stories between 3 main characters was a nice touch, too, at least in the first (forget if the second did that, too, since I played the second years before I played the first)

Re: Sony's Considering a Steam-Style Early Access Program, Says Adam Boyes

@alphadrago5 Even if they do that, the problem is that people will take advantage of it unless they iron out the kinks. I've already heard of a couple Early Access games on Steam that clearly weren't even remotely in a playable state, yet were sold to the public under the "promise" that it'll be a great game someday.

Plus, I'm not one to not-buy good things out of just principles, but I really can't stand the idea of buying an unfinished game. I don't even like buying buggy games that require a million patches. I want a full, finished product. I'm not your investor, I'm your end user, companies. Get that through your thick skulls and stop selling me alphas while "promising" to make a good game someday.

Re: Talking Point: Are Publishers Taking Pre-Order Bonuses Too Far?

CanisWolfred

I can see why. Not only do they force people to buy soon instead of waiting for a cheaper copy, perhaps even before the reviews come out, but by forcing a level of scarcity, it encourages people to keep buying day one.

That said, just because they want to manipulate the market to get more money doesn't mean I'm willing to get behind it. I only pre-order games when I know they'll be hard to find later, thanks to their general obscurity, and I know I'm definitely going to want to play them at some point.

Re: Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star Will Be Top of the Pops This September

^Well, when it comes to RPGs I usually put gameplay above story, and in this case the gameplay sounds immensely repetitive (few enemy types and environments, higher-level song magic are just stronger versions of the same attack magic, etc.), but it seems gameplay isn't a huge focus of the game (a few battles, then lots of cutscenes and dialogue) so I'll probably get past it if the story's really good.
