Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Four

@ShogunRok

I too look forward to your review. I wanna see how it improved on the original, since that one sounded like an otherwise great game that simply had some problems holding it back.

Anyways, I'm playing BioShock on the PS3 with my bro. We're about a third of the way through already. Spooky stuff, surprisingly.

^The first game was atrociously written and had painfully overcomplicated gameplay, as well as a moe aesthetic that people might find to be too cute and colorful. Overall it's about as niche as humanly possible, which I think some people might find to be a problem with a lot of Japanese games these days.

Anyways, this sounds better than the first game, but certainly not good enough to compete with Ni no Kuni and Tales of Xillia, which deserve more of my time and money.

@JavierYHL Then get the Day One Edition: http://www.vg247.com/2013/04/11/tales-of-xillia-collectors-editions-are-lovely/

Same price as the Standard, same stuff as the Collector's edition, minus the Figurine. Too bad it seems to be PAL-exclusive so far, I'd get it otherwise.

BTW, the Collector's Edition is NOT NB's-Store-exclusive in NA: http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/tales-of-xillia-collectors-edition/109114

Not sure about PAL, though.

Re: Review: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PlayStation 3)

I've never been one to agree with you, Sammy...and that hasn't changed here. That said, I've noticed a lot of critics saying the same things you do, especially the lack of "moving the series forward", and I don't think I can see why it's a problem. The fans wanted more Sly cooper, which is what they delivered. I don't recall anyone asking for an evolution or revolution of the series. It didn't have to advance the formula, because it's been so long since we've seen a game like it that it's already fresh again. They never promised anything more, no one asked for anything more. So why were you expecting it?

Sounds interesting. I'll remain cautious, but it does sound like something that'd be big if they can pull it off.

As for Halo, I like the series well enough. I never thought it was great, but I don't see how anyone can call it terrible, especially by the Multiplayer of Halo 3. I've played some terrible shooters in my day. Halo was not one of them.
