We're sure you've already seen the footage of Assassin's Creed: Unity's multiplayer by now, demonstrated during Monday's press conferences. Since then, it's spawned queries around the internet as to whether our online appearance will be as varied as in previous titles. In a statement made by Ubisoft to Kotaku, there will be no running around as courtesans or witch doctors, as everyone will be playing as hooded protagonist Arno.
"Whether playing by yourself or with the co-op Shared Experiences, you the gamer will always be playing as Arno, complete with his broad range of gear and skill sets that will make you feel unique." While it is disappointing that we won't be seeing as many faces as previous multiplayer experiences, this does suggest that, like Watch Dogs, other players will see you as an entirely different character, which also explains why the three assassins we saw in the gameplay trailer all flaunt their own look. Do you think this is a clever system, or would you rather have a dedicated online mode that isn't tied into single player? Make sure to join the revolution in the comments section below.

I like it that way there is no argueing about who gets to be arno plus it means it won't interfere with your story progression
I think it was a good idea!
I tell you, Watch_Dogs is hacking it's way into many of Ubsoft's new projects. I like the fact that you're playing as the main guy every/anywhere in ACU. However, I like the ability to create a online persona as well. Wish Halo did this back in the day with online co-op. One dude was Master Cheif and everybody else was random Elites.
Anyway, Watch_Dogs succeeded in never taking you out the story/main game by doing this. Seeing Adien all the time is a cool way to never get disconnected from the main guy. Guess The Division will be the only Ubisoft game coming out where creating a online persona will be a choice and fine with that.
I think it is perfect this way. I love the seamless movement from single player to online in watchdogs. If ac unity is the same I will be very happy
Still amused by their answer to why aren't there any female assassin's in the game this time. It's the same reason only Pac-Man is in Smash 4. Adding a bow, mole, and lipstick would require so much extra work the game would be delayed until this time next year.
This is the dumbest Idea I've ever heard...multiplayer where everyone is the same? What's supposed to make it fun? Or are they now purposely sabotaging their multiplayer components until people start demanding that they stop having multiplayer components?
...wait...nvm, best idea ever!!!
@CanisWolfred I think the point is everybody plays as the lead character but you see others as npc characters. They look different on your screen when in multiplayer, you look different on theirs. Way it works in watchdogs and I think it works very well
@rastamadeus actually I believe it will be a lot more works. they need to reanimate the female character with mo-cap. You wouldn't want a female character that have the proportion and movement of a male right? If that's fine, then you can just pretend your character is female with short hair when you player the game..
