Re: Feature: The 10 Best PS4 Games of 2017 So Far

What Remains of Edith Finch is my GOTY so far. It is such a well told and emotional tale. I have not experienced the feelings that it left me with since Journey.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Nex Machina are close behind though. The latter has the same ridiculously addictive gameplay loop as Resogun. I cannot get enough of it.

Re: Guide: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Tips and Tricks for When Your Ass Is Getting Kicked

@Gamer83 I'm definitely going to take Sammy's tip to jump between the games. Crash 1 is infuriating at different points. I remember really liking 2 and 3, so I'm going to give them a shot. I do not think it's nostalgia that is the issue with perception of Crash games. I think '90s gamers views about what makes a game fun to play may have changed over time due to life experience plus changes in gameplay difficulty and mechanics over time. I was 11 years old when the original was released. I remember having fun despite the frustration. However, I also had a lot more time at that age to spend hours and hours replaying each level. I am very curious to know how gamers who are playing the trilogy for the first time are experiencing it.

Re: Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Dazzles in Extended PS4 Gameplay Demo

In my opinion, no developer does scripted action set pieces better than Naughty Dog. The high adrenaline action is so well executed. I cannot wait to play this game. It is nice that they kept Chloe's sarcastic personality too. It allows for a similar quip filled running commentary by the protagonist that makes the main Uncharted series so fun for me to play.

Re: Rumour: Fresh Evidence in L.A. Noire PS4 Remaster Case

Bluetrain7

I love this game mostly because I love the film noir genre. I thought they nailed the mood, dialogue, music, and setting of my favorite noirs. I would love to see it remastered, but I am not sure how it would translate to VR. The interrogations would be excellent for reading suspect honesty. However, there are a bunch of foot and car chases. It suspect it work in first person perspective through the PS4, but might be nauseating in PSVR. I am open to trying it though.

Re: Review: Nex Machina (PS4)

Bluetrain7

@Ewflex Maybe not, but I feel like it has some unique gameplay elements that could make it interesting to try.

@get2sammyb Thank you for the notes on difficulty. I always appreciate a challenge especially when it involves building skills. So it is good to know that it stacks like Resogun where you can make it through the levels on the first playthrough, but it has enough content that replayability is high along with the desire to build mastery of the mechanics.

Re: Review: Nex Machina (PS4)

@get2sammyb How did you find the difficulty over the course of the game? I am reading other reviews that say the difficulty curve gets pretty intense in later levels. Did you find that the difficulty was fair or were there control throwing moments?

Re: Sony: We Didn't Date Our PS4 Games on Purpose

Bluetrain7

No specific release date until the game is nearly ready to go is fine. However, I like a general release window (Spring 2018) rather than just a year. At least then I can adjust my hype level. I would assume most developers have a quarter as a tentative deadline and it still provides wiggle room with delays on a specific date.

Re: Review: Farpoint (PS4)

Bluetrain7

@get2sammyb I wholeheartedly agree with the frustrating overemphasis on the "killer app". I have loved so many games and experiences on PSVR since getting it at launch. I feel the library has more than proved the headset's worth as a new way to play. I meant it in the public's perception of the potential of full scale FPS VR games.

How is the battery life of the Aim? How is it charged?

Re: Review: Farpoint (PS4)

Bluetrain7

@get2sammyb Thank you for the review. I will definitely be picking it up, but I'm sad to hear it's not the PSVR's killer app. Hopefully, a successful launch will spur more developers to go to big budget full campaigns with more games.

Re: Rumour: New Red Dead Redemption 2 Screenshot Leaks

Bluetrain7

@JoeBlogs I would love a remaster to come out this summer. I want to replay it, but I don't want to dust off the PS3 copy if they are going to update the game. Rockstar does not really have much of a history of remasters aside from GTA V, so I won't hold my breath.

Re: Rumour: Far Cry Is Going Straight to the Wild, Wild West

Bluetrain7

I would love to see a spaghetti western style game. Red Dead Redemption really mined the darker, later era, and revisionist westerns so there is plenty of room for a different take. It remains to be seen what tone RDR2 takes, but I'm sure Ubisoft could find a unique perspective.

Re: PlayStation VR Restocked Ahead of Farpoint Release

Bluetrain7

I love my PSVR and recently enjoyed Fated. I am excited about Farpoint and the new peripheral, but I am holding off until the reviews roll in. I can't justify laying down that much money for the game/gun until I know more about the length and how it plays. It also has to have some replay value.

Re: Review: Fated: The Silent Oath (PS4)

Bluetrain7

Been on the look out for new PSVR titles and watched the trailer for this yesterday on PSN store. It looks really beautiful with an intriguing story. I will definitely be getting it. PSN store is getting better with more descriptive summaries/features for the VR games and experiences. It's harder to know exactly what you're getting from the trailer alone, so I really appreciate the extra details on PSN store and the reviews here. Please keep the PSVR reviews rolling out.

Re: Feature: The Promising PS4 Games of February 2017

Horizon looks astonishing, but I also enjoy the little indies such as Night in the Woods. Sometimes the lack of hype can provide a more satisfying experience when an indie game turns out to be amazing. The art style of this one looks particularly interesting.

Re: The Town of Light Promises a PS4 Experience Unlike Any Other

Bluetrain7

It seems like it will treat the topic of mental health with the respect that it deserves. I couldn't get into Outlast because it did the exact opposite. People with mental illness endured unimaginable treatment in the past and it should not be used for simple shock/horror in my opinion. Those horror games disrespect the people and do a disservice to a topic that still remains stigmatizing for those who have mental illness.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 151

Finally playing the Tomb Raider reboot. I bought Rise of the Tomb Raider during a holiday sale so I want to play them in order. It shares some story elements with the first Uncharted, but I find myself enjoying it nonetheless. I like the dynamic of vulnerability and strength in Lara's character. The gameplay mechanics are really solid and the action is addictive. I'm looking forward to playing the sequel when this one wraps up.
