@Wickedspades They did reduce the price of Ultimate, which is exactly what I said. And even though Gamepass has plateaued, it is still making money regardless. Oh and one last thing... just relax dude. This is a chilled comments section.
@Bettyswollocks that is definitely not the glory days I'm referring to. That was the dilution and mismanagement of the Xbox brand, where things started to go wrong. At its worst you had Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond trying to make the actual console irrelevant with that whole "this is an Xbox" campaign. That has been scrapped now and they are gone. Asha Sharma is focusing on building the brand up again and making the console the point of reference again. These are all good, positive changes for the brand. Wildly different to what the previous management tried. And Gamepass is, by whatever reason or voodoo magic, still successful.
Wow, so much hate for Xbox in the comments... feels like I had just snuck into an enemy base π Xbox is not focused on quick sales right now (they dropped the price of Gamepass Ultimate by a significant amount, for example). They are going through a brand exercise to restore the brand and grow over time. It's a long term plan to get more buy-in from new and returning customers. Exclusivity works for Playstation and works for Nintendo. Xbox is going back to the glory days when it worked for them as well.
@3Above I second this and highly recommend @Matroska play the unpatched disc version. Feels way better to play at 60fps. There are a few bugs you need to get around but totally worth it. And genATLAS will be the next Ueda masterpiece! π₯Ή
@Mio_Nakashima I would have to disagree with that because it is confirmed to be in the final polishing phase... also, I coughed up for the Premium Edition and there better be some DLC soon π
"This is an Xbox" has already failed... there's no way Playstation will do the same thing. The ram crisis will blow over and consoles will live on π«‘
Gaming needs to go back to a profitable business model and move away from this risky investment model where some new studios come out the gate with a big AAA game that sinks the entire ship if it flops.
It's like the wise old Shuhei Yoshida once said: "Single-player games now cost so much, so they need additional income by doing remasters and porting to PC to be able to do that", which is a sound business model. I know people are tired of these, but you've heard it from the man himself; they are necessary.
I think the same goes for AA games. If a studio puts out a few of these, it is less risk and even if just one of them becomes a mega-hit, you're set for the bigger games.
Lastly, the management of these studios need to significantly improve. Stop putting single-player game studios on BS live service projects.
The kids just don't know how good we had it in the 90's with the OG games coming out on PS1 π€£ You had to be there. RE2 scared the absolute sh** out of me. I think I was still in the single digits when I played it.

I'll be there day one for Wolfenstein 3 and would've preferred that to The Great Circle. I am such a diehard Uncharted fan that I had hoped the Indiana Jones game would scratch that itch for me π It didn't
Devastating news π The gaming industry has lost one of its most important people. Reading through and remembering all the games he was involved in gave me a lump in my throat. My heart goes out to his loved ones. RIP
I eventually stopped playing Silksong after many hours because the game was too hard to enjoy. Team Cherry were completely up their own asses with the difficulty. I'm looking forward to MIO and don't consider Silksong to be competition. If the difficulty is more like the first Hollow Knight or even Grime, it'll be another metroidvania I can enjoy ππ»

Re: Gen Atlas Is ICO, The Last Guardian Creator's Next Game
@Porco And knowing Ueda's games, there must be a companion character in the game that you form a bond with, which seems to be the floating robot head.
