As expected, Nada Holdings and Dragami Games have officially unveiled Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back, a sequel to the cult favourite PS3 action game.
Dragami Games revived the original with the remake Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, and it's now working on a direct follow-up.
The sequel once again stars Juliet Starling, who must navigate a rebuilt San Romero that's been transformed into a place called Jaredwood.
"When a mysterious director traps her inside his twisted zombie movie, Juliet must fight alongside her allies, uncover the conspiracy behind the chaos, and stop a new threat posed by the Corrupted Realm zombies," reads the official description.

There doesn't appear to be a trailer as yet, but there is this gameplay footage, showing about eight minutes of zombie-slicing action.
Juliet uses her signature chainsaw along with some cheerleading moves to fend off the undead, and it's coupled with roller skates you can use to move around at speed. The skates are a great idea, I think — it makes her a super nimble character and gives the combat a little more energy.
However, the early footage is very rough-looking, with some awkward camera jank and choppy animations. Obviously there's still work to be done, but I'm not sure it was ready to show off quite yet.
With no involvement from some of the original creators, like writer James Gunn and director Suda51, there's concern this won't measure up, but again, it's early days.
Anyway, there you have it — a sequel to the ultimate Sammy-coded game is on the way. Are you interested in Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back? Tell us in the comments section below.

Looking forward to this one. Imported the Switch 2 fully-on-card version of RePop to go with my PS3 copy of the original. Glad this will release in our still-getting-discs window.
"there's concern this won't measure up, but again, it's early days."
Of course it won't, even from this clip it looks like a cheap cash grab. Without Suda51 this is worthless 🤷🏻♀️
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the first game wasn't all that great in itself once you remove the absurdidty of the premise.
@ShadowRJ you're right, its a poor game
@Neuromancer I REALLY don't like the sound of that statement. A work should never be criticised for not including minority characters, however the way that's written comes across as DEI being a restriction which is certainly not the case.
How come this is looking rough? Are you guys going blind?
If anything its looking way better than Wolverine given I have actual combos and combo variations.
@CielloArc It's visual presentation needs a fair bit of work. Around the one minute mark, you see a zombie being chainsawed in half, and it looks pretty bad.
@GilaMonster They know that their "game" is a piece of trash, so they always pull the DEI DURR!1! SBI!1!!! crap.
@ShadowRJ
I don't expect that level of polish from an early look, its also probably missing some particle effects due to both YT and TGS terms of service.
Definitely some room for improvement but not the worst early footage of a game I've ever seen. Love the first one. Hopefully this one will be good too.
@Neuromancer Let me guess, "modern slop" is when women exist, and straight men aren't gods that women have to worship and validate? Because you obviously love it when particular devs "reject" modern "ideologies".
@GilaMonster Grifters will always grift lol.
The game looks devoid of actual colours
I played it recently on PS3 and it looked bright, more colourful, things popped, it was saucy too which I appreciate. It might just be one map? those streets looked dark and depressing, not at all what I'd expect from that series. That last setting looked more in keeping with the first game. I'll wait until I see the finished game. Either way I like seeing PS3 era titles make their way onto PS5. Now if only Alice and Dante's Inferno were next.
@GirlVersusGame @Mr-Cage
Color me correct, pun intended, but both Re-Pop and this game were made in UE5, right?
That would explain the lack of color
ACES tonemapping is quite harsh in UE5, always pulling towards some ""realistic"" colors.
@Divergent95 There's definitely been a rise in certain games being hyped up by the "anti woke" crowd for disingenious reasons. I remember watching a Stellar Blade trailer, with a comment going "if you're sick of woke, buy this game."
And it's not even a problem to like games with hot women in them. I love Stellar Blade too, but that doesn't mean that it's wrong for developers to include a bigger variety of character backgrounds if they want to.
@Mr-Cage You're right. Compare the stage fight in this to Hi-Fi Rush, this game looks so much worse.
Looks like how the original to be honest, I really enjoyed the game but I don’t ever try to claim it was good lol
@ShadowRJ Bestie, nobody would've said ANYTHING if they didn't go all SBI BAAAD!1! DUURRR!!!
If you're pandering to a problematic audience to sell your game, then it's literally grifting and selling fake promises. YOU DON'T NEGOTIATE with such an audience, like, never!
@ShadowRJ
Yes, it is wrong.
Most of times the end result of going DEI is a mediocre game, or even bellow that.
No one remembers when a game does DEI right, but everyone remembers the ones that did it the wrong way.

@CielloArc It really shouldn't look realistic should it the first game had great art style!
The game screams absolute flop!

@GilaMonster I'm dying over here bestie. You're reading the house boots down 💀💀💀
It's like watching Paris is Burning live 💀
Rough looking yes, but I still think there is time for improvement. I don’t want to just hate on it from the start.
@CielloArc I can understand that, but at the same time, a lot of creative decisions are made because of business decisions. The best creatives are the ones that can implement it in a way that it makes sense.
I love the Spider-Man the Animated Series Hobgoblin, but the creator of that show hated him. He was only in there because Marvel were selling toys of him. You wouldn't have realised this on watching the show.
@Neuromancer All of which I agree with you on, so I have to ask you, why did you include it on a list of games that were ruined because of DEI?
@Neuromancer
That's bad writing and directing, not DEI.

This comment section has got waaaaay too heated for a game about a cheerleader on roller skates killing zombie with chainsaws 😄
I never played the first game, this looks okayish I guess. A bit of a Dead Rising clone maybe? Not sure if that’s what the first game was like.
Suda not being involved is a problem... but it looks fun as hell so far 😅
@CielloArc All I know about colour and lighting from a Developer's side comes from Alien Trilogy on Playstation One. The Developers had to hide the blocky resolution and textures so they made everything so dark to do it. I've tried to finish it multiple times and it's so depressing each time. I'm having more luck with Alien 3 on the Super Nintendo than I am with that game.
This is next on the list (Lollipop Chainsaw included to stay on topic) It sounds good. I'm trying to play the entire franchise, and Aliens Colonial Marines was as bad as people warned. Absolutely dreadful. I need to finish Predator on PS2 too.
I didn't notice it was a steelbook either. My eye was drawn to that lovely big 18 BBFC rating. I feel like I don't see it on PS5. I don't understand the resolution/technical side of gaming and I think I rotate systems too much for it to matter. If it's Playstation One today, then PS5 tomorrow the difference is noticeable but I don't know the frame-rate/etc, I just see a good game and play it.
Or like Aliens I source the entire franchise for every machine and do it in bulk. The lack of lighting in the Trilogy is just making it harder, I hope they do something with this next Lollipop Chainsaw one. It's not 7 Days 2 Die's Alpha PS4 build. They need to inject some lighting and colour in there, if they can.
I can't wait for this! I have the original on 360 and a limited edition Japanese version on PS3. I only own Re-Pop digitally though unfortunately.
No idea what happened here, so I'll just say two things:
1) It's totally fine to like video games with girls in skimpy outfits
2) It's been more than a decade since Suda made a decent game, so I'm not worried about him being not involved
I'm surprised to see some people in here who mocks Wolverine combat and called it as repetitive and boring but somehow they praised this game combat which looks quite repetitive and boring since what you do is just chainsawing a group of zombies who moves slow af and almost do nothing over and over.
Oh, i guess it's okay for Japanese devs to make linear and repetitive combat but not for western devs right? Heh.
Anyway. I never played the first game but this one looks really rough especially the hit detection, sound effect, and animation. I'm sure they gonna polish it. But eh, Suda doesn't involve in this game and it just looks rough. I rather spend my money on Wolverine, Stupid Never Dies, Onimusha, and Phantom Blade Zero.
@Dalamar I missed it, well said though.
I don't like seeing sexual attraction removed from games. I've seen the result of someone who was cut-off completely from anything like that and the guy was terrified of even a handshake.
People need to find who and what they are from something, if that content gets completely neutered then so do gamers. Unless they have another method, and if that's pornography then that extreme will build over time. Games are a healthier way to do it. I'm completely desensitized because of what I just mentioned.
A skimpy outfit or a Stellar Blade shouldn't be an issue any day of the week. Games are a privilege not a right, no one is forcing a person to buy a title, they either do or don't and if they do they obviously like something about it. Making them feel two-feet tall because of it, that's just wrong. I'm not saying that's what all of those removed comments are about (I didn't see them) it just gets a little tiring when a Developer does go that route and people are called weirdos when their brain naturally reacts to what their eyes see. I do want to play that game, but only if they raise the brightness so my eyes can see it too.
Hopefully the game will be good, especially without Suda heading the project.
The first one was silly ott fun. Without the involvement of Suda51, i'm not sure about this.
I don't see a sequel as an impossible task without Gunn and Suda. The original game is like 6 levels long. License a bunch of tracks, design some themed stages ending in a boss fight, with campy B-movie humor and dialogue, and a healthy dose of rainbow sparkles and hearts. Obviously it's the writing aspect that will be the trickiest, but I'm still interested to see where this goes.
Don't care as it won't come on a disc
Strange choice to demo something so early on in development. Roughness aside, they've clearly added quite a bit to combat, so I'll remain cautiously optimistic until release.
Why does the girl cover up her backside with her hand in the opening shot? Does she not want anyone to see her underwear?
Good to know and cool it's happening, but not exactly going to make me buy or use a PS5/Xbox Series/PC/Switch 2 any time soon.
This gameplay has the same amount of jank as the first game. It looks good but without Suda, I'm cautious.
