The new PlayStation ports of the first two Call of Duty: Black Ops games are slated to release at some point this month and fans have been eager these past few days to know exactly when.
Some thought they'd be part of the month's PS Plus Essential lineup, since exact release dates weren't attached to them yet. Instead, it was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on offer (which is an excellent multiplayer offering nowadays).
Activision hasn't forgotten about them, though, as PlayStation Game Size is tracking multiple updates to the two games that have been issued in the past 24 hours. What the patches, bringing the two games up to versions 1.03, isn't clear, as details surrounding updates to unreleased games aren't made public.
However, it's evident that the two PS5 ports are being actively worked on ahead of a July 2026 release.
Fans have demonstrated their excitement for the two PS5 ports by engaging with social media posts attached to their reveals more than the brand new game coming in October, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. While it doesn't sound like there'll be any technical improvements, these are the full and complete base games on PS5: you get the campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies modes.
The only problem is you might have to spend a pretty penny to acquire them both digitally on PS5.
