Back in January, we said Sony “must move mountains” to get Samson: A Tyndalston Story on the PS5. After a 51 rating for the PC version on Metacritic, we’re not so sure.
But the game is coming this September anyway, as confirmed in an interview with The Game Business.
Here’s the good news: Liquid Sword founder Christofer Sundberg – who some of you may remember from Just Cause fame – believes the player response is improving as it works to fix the bugs.
Here’s what he said:
“The launch has gone a bit so-so. The game suffered from way too many bugs and a lack of polish. We’re correcting it almost daily now. The reception is starting to become more positive. For us, it was just a must to get the game out. But any game released in this day and age is a success.”

Sundberg continued that the game won’t be much bigger when it arrives on consoles, but he does expect it to be a lot more polished, which is good news for those of us on the PS5.
For those of you who don’t know much about Samson, here’s an excerpt from its blurb:
“Players take on the role of Samson McCray, a man fighting to stay ahead of a crushing debt that tightens by the hour. Violence, desperation, and quick judgment are the only tools he has left as Tyndalston pushes back at every turn. Combat is grounded, physical, and dangerous. The city responds to your actions, forcing you into a loop where pressure defines every choice you make.”
Obviously the GTA comparisons aren’t doing this game many favours, because it’s much smaller in scope than any of Rockstar’s releases.
But we really hope the team can turn this story around, because it’s clearly passionate about the game and committed to making it as good as it can be.
If it’s patching the title daily right now, then there’s hope for its eventual PS5 release.
