I tried it on Xbox Gamepass yesterday but did not last 30 minutes. It feels like a kids game and the thought of endless taking pictures and chasing after bugs or snacks or whatever left me cold.
Here's to rhythm games on Vita! IA/VT is a japan only, but worth tracking down. Otherwise Hatsune, DJMAx Technika Tune, Kickbeat, and P4 - Dancing All Night.
Don't think I've seen XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but that, Asphalt Injection, Stardew Valley, Uncharted Golden Abyss, ....
Why couldn't Sony manage the PSVita like Nintendo 3DS???
Dirt 5 is fun for a bit, lots of flash and roar, but it wore out surprisingly fast for me. The weekly challenges are just trick courses, not real races, so that's disappointing. The races can be wild, but in limited doses.
Once my mind and thumbs understood the tricks of the game, I realized how clever this really is. The story is all over the map, but it's short and very enjoyable. The puzzles are almost immediately understood, yet there is real pleasure in walking through them. A neat experience.
I can vouch for Divekick; it only uses 2 buttons (jump, kick), there is no walking but diverse characters. 12 year-olds can pick it up in 30 seconds, but it is pure genius to play, fight, and kick your opponent in the head.
Finished my first play through here in the fall of 2022 and was amazed at how much fun this game turned out to be in the end (it started slow). The holding-still feature should be emphasized, and I let someone down in the end because I shook a little - and I felt bad enough to replay and set some things right using the chapters feature after the first completion.
For those who understand the potential, the Billions that Sony has left on the table because of their second-rate shopping experience is shocking; I take it their stockholders are not gamers or they would be up in arms.
@ IonMagus My question is really about non-sanctioned or non-transferred games (illegal in Sony's eyes so purely hypothetical) . For example, I have a fully loaded PS Vita with downloaded games - of course you can't wipe it and reload, but as is, what would a collector pay 50 years from now? Or how much value will my grandkid be able to generate with my downloaded games, or rather, the games I wisely bought for them years in advance?
PS3 and PS Vita systems and games are already collectors items. If you want to invest, consider PV Vita games as a counter to Bitcoin and Gold - wait 20 years and see if this is wrong. PS3 and Vita physical versions are getting tougher by the day to find cheap - by shutting down digital, they are making them more valuable. The question I have is whether games downloaded on a PS Vita memory disk (also collectors items) going to have any value someday? What will someone pay 50 years from now to have a fully functional Vita loaded with games?
The comment about Notre Dame is funny because if they stay out it only hurts them and their alumni. ND's influence continues to decline as they become just another ACC team, on par with NC State and Wake Forest. Enjoy South Bend!
It would be cool if there was a 2 player mode where you could both play on the same table at the same time, maybe even attack the other players flippers, freeze them, etc. True battle pinball - has this ever existed?
If you are buying a vita and you have adult-sized hands, buy a set of handgrips, the bigger the better. I have a set of grips that make it look like the batman signal, but it's totally worth it. I used a pair of grips that tried to outsmart the back paddles via faux R2/L2 triggers that pushed on the back, but it was not reliable.
This is my only vita complaint - lack or dedicated R1 and R2 sets of triggers, which makes playing the better PS4 games remotely impossible. But seeing your PS4 games looking sharp on your Vita is awesome.
I've gotten sucked into the Division 2 but I'm hitting a wall with the repetition of missions, however, I haven't even touched the NY expansion (yet). I also waste hours playing Fallout 76, but I haven't gotten into the new board that came out recently.
Racing games are my constant though, and somehow I find myself pushing through Dirt 4 even though better games await.
The new store is worse than it was. Sony - how do you keep messing up the cash register?
Nintendo's secret to loyalty - they don't chop you off with every iteration. How many 3DS games are on sale this week and how much money will Nintendo make off its legacy systems, instilling loyalty that goes a lifetime.
I went in deep on PS4, and it even pulled me into PS Vita and PS3. But I'm seriously thinking of skipping PS5 when I see how Sony runs its full line of products; Cyberpunk almost made me jump in, but the signs all say I dodged a bullet.
I just logged into the store through my PS VITA (physically in Colorado).
And it seems to be the same old crummy interface it's always been. If Sony would every wise up, they would fix the PS Store on all fronts (Vita, PS3, PS4, ...); they could really increase sales and improve the experience, but their latest try feels like a face plant.
Playing Ni No Kuni and NCAA Football 14 regularly these days.
Also, shout out to the exercise games on PS3 like Fit in Six, EA Active 2 (though it needs the bands), etc. PS4 has almost nothing and what it does have is kind of sad (looking at you Yoga Master)
@Badheelman Bought the gold version yesterday for $15; when this was free via PS+ I tried it but was quickly put off that half the game was locked away. The full game with everything open at $15 is about right, and after downloading the 50ish extras, my life and family are happy to have the grinding time back. Otherwise, fun game!
NFS was $5 a few weeks ago and I almost bought it but didn't; likewise I've been eyeing up Vampyr since it got reasonably good reviews. In sum, great line up for me.
I'll probably do what I did for PS4; wait for a black friday bundle the year after it releases. In 2014 with my new system I bought these:
$32.18 Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag - PlayStation 4 $30.73 Bloodborne $29.99 Mad Max - PlayStation 4 $29.99 Batman: Arkham Knight - PlayStation 4 $29.99 Mortal Kombat X - PlayStation 4 $24.99 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - PlayStation 4 (awful!)
I have NEVER paid full price for a game. Of the ~350 games I have purchased since then (Vita too), I averaged $11.63 US dollars by only ever buying on sale.
I can wait - this is how markets work. For those that pay full price, thank you for subsidizing my gaming and my retirement.
It's great to hear this is coming to PS Vita; I've got this on the Switch and it's great hand-held. Graphics are kinda low rez, so perfect for Switch and Vita.
Trophies are like crack, and the way they are used to manipulate players (willingly or no) is pretty crazy. I've tasted it, and a trophy rush is pretty awesome, but think of your lives and the lives you could improve! I mean, how many millions of hours* have been lost on the last 20% of trophies.
*currently chasing Platinum in Yogamaster; but all those extra hours perfecting Asana are going to my body and soul, right? Namaste!
Like most, my backlog of first time play-throughs is long, but I have popped back into Sleeping Dogs a couple of times over the years after finishing the main story.
Driving around Hong Kong at night with this soundtrack is rad.
@Badheelman - come to think of it, I think anyone can legally kick the ball in American football, maybe lineman aside, as long as they are behind the line of scrimmage. Or is it just a few? I guess I need to go back to school, to wit....
I've been playing lots of Fallout lately but all for the first time: 4, 3, and NV (that order), so that's my frame.
On those grounds, it feels like a Fallout game so far; I tracked it before the new update and it sounded sad, but I can vouch that besides VATS, it's now like the others. I've only solo'd so far but the few folks with camps I've seen seem helpful and no one has attacked me yet. My biggest hesitation was one more time suck, but if I check in for an hour or 2 per day or week, worth it
This is a tough sell - I own the physical game so it is interesting, but if you haven't played it before, I wouldn't recommend starting here. My kids would hurt me if I tried to get them to play this on PS.
For reference, I have "Life", the board game, on PS4; great in concept, I love that "we" don't have to set up or break down a board and cards, but no one ever wants to play it when it comes up as an option. Conclusion, be careful with board games on screens - somethings play better in real life.
Maybe you love the game and can't get folks to play, okay, buy it and make friends online. Maybe you are playing with someone online in quarantine, but what are the odds they have a PS4 too?
1 sim would have been fine, but 2? That's the real issue here, isn't this like giving mortal combat and blaz blue?
At this point I'm this point I'm thinking of putting the kids behind Battlefield 1 and calling it a history lesson - thanks for games we can play together as we are stuck together.
Thanks for the free Pacman game, though, that was well received here.
On PSVita I finished Persona 3 a few weeks ago and jumped immediately into P4G (wow!) Vita rules! And for some reason I bought World of FF (b/c it was on sale?)
Anyway, the bigger story this thread calls out is the absolute failure on Sony's part to keep their stores alive. Sony - you sell games, so why don't you use every storefront you have. I am backfilling PSV and PS3, I have money, make me an offer on games I want to play.
Seriously, it boggles the mind that they don't keep up the storefronts in Vita and PS3, to have constant, attractive deals on games that no one is buying otherwise. Incompetence or does Sony sales team have a secret? Several years into the current PS era and I must go with the former.
Does the Persona series count? I'm almost done with P3 and between the Personas, their evolution and attacks, physical weapons, armor, charms, and what have you, I'm bloated with gear and swimming in money. I imagine the rest are the same and that P3 and P4 could join P5 on PS4 eventually.
I usually buy an annual subscription around the holidays when on sale. I get sucked into the discounts on games all the time.
I don't mind PS+ dropping PS3 (which I just recently got into) and PS Vita (which I love), as long as they offer frequent deep discounts on game prices. Which it seems like they have been doing with big name games for $4 US, etc.
If PS+ redirects money to providing 2 top notch games, maybe throw in some DLC and PSVR every now and again, then the price seems fair.
This looks great and I look forward to getting it a 6-12 months from now. Quick question: I just got WRC7 after debating it against Dirt 4, but the sale is still on. If I have WRC7 and Dirt Rally, do I gain anything with Dirt 4 except the loss of 40 more hours. Cheers!
