Here we go, then: the NBA 2K23 marketing cycle is officially underway. 2K Sports has announced that global icon and six-time NBA World Champion Michael Jordan will headline the game’s two special editions on PS5 and PS4: the Michael Jordan Edition and the Championship Edition.
The press release teases: “For the 24th year of NBA 2K, Jordan is the perfect embodiment of this year’s campaign theme: Answer the Call. As an athlete who always rose to the occasion, Jordan returns to star on two NBA 2K23 covers, giving an opportunity for old and new fans alike to celebrate a talent who left the world in awe throughout his career.”
The game will Eurostep to consoles on 9th September, and 2K Sports is pretty pumped about its offering this year. Specifically, the Championship Edition will come with a 12-month subscription to the NBA League Pass, allowing you to catch up with everything that unfolds on the real court when the new season gets underway in October.
The press release continues: “Along with Michael Jordan returning to grace the covers of NBA 2K23 this year, the game will also reintroduce The Jordan Challenge, which encourages players to recreate 15 iconic moments from Jordan’s illustrious career. All ten of the original Challenges from NBA 2K11 have been completely rebuilt from the ground up and will make their return this year – alongside five new iconic Jordan moments – for an entire new generation of players to experience. These Challenges take advantage of more than a decade of technological leaps to provide a completely new way to play through Jordan’s accomplishments, all housed within its own game mode.”
To be fair, this sounds like a pretty neat mode, with commentary from former teammates and opponents, as well as video vignettes to watch. The NBA 2K games are already bursting at the seams with content, so we’ll gratefully lap up even more. The publisher says that additional information will be announced in the coming weeks – but for now, check out the bad ass announcement trailer above.
The casino elements are irritating but there’s just so much content in these games. The single player mode with RPG elements is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition.
The GOAT 🐐
That is all.
I’m all in for the Jordan mode. Also might get the season pass nba bundle depending on the U.K. price if it gets a release.
These would be easy 9/10 games if they removed all the casino garbage, also how strange having Devin Booker on the cover when Steph would have made sense.
You made me think the last dance documentary which was great was included in this edition on blu ray with that headline and now I’m depressed it isn’t
@dark_knightmare2 Same. MJ wasn't nicknamed The Last Dance so I don't get it.
@nessisonett Visual Concepts really need the Fifa license.
@BlaizeV yeah I’m sure we aren’t the only ones it confused they should change the headline
@nessisonett casino? That overused phrase only exist, to my knowledge, to one mode is the game. And that isn't even isn't the mode that's the most popular. I only play mycareer. Know the vc prices are outrageous, it's not Casino
@Cutmastavictory Gambling and making leveling a chore/crime isnt that enough?
i grew up when Michael jordan was in his prime.loved space jam with him in it and bill Murray.
i loved the reflection of the varnish floors in these basket ball games that was on the PlayStation 1 but omg the games gotten so realistic im a total noob at these games but have fun when i play em.
@Flaming_Kaiser fallacious replies bother me. Gamers should do better.
I'll have you know I won 1,000 VC in that casino today!
@dark_knightmare2 @BlaizeV That's fair. I was trying to squeeze in some kind of "last dance" pun but I suppose it didn't really work.
I've changed it.
Wish was good enough to get the Mt level 40 rewards but love 2k22 and launch day buy for me is 23
Wanna be like Mike?
This works out well for 2K. They can sign him for a twofer and use him for the PGA Tour 2k cover as well. With playstation exclusive MLB The Show Jordan DLC included.
@Cutmastavictory The only thing its not a false believe. 🤪
@Flaming_Kaiser but it is. When you say a game is one thing in its entirety, but in reality it isn't. Stop being a follower. Condemn the game, but at least stick to the facts.
