I love the fact that they have created things For Light No Fire and are trying to incorporate it into NMS. I'm sure they share a lot of similarities under the hood but still nice to see this type of cross usage going on. Probably a good way to help optimize and improve things for both games when you can be ambitious and all test things in lower stakes environment.
I give it an 8 but I'm likely playing it "wrong", I'm playing it more like a traditional SP game. I like the starting 3 characters personalities and a few of the characters I got from the free pulls are interesting enough. The story interests me more than than needing a specific character. The few NPCs I've met are also have some nice quests/personalities so that cool. The combat is simple yet engaging. The music is pretty good as is the overall design of the game. The Waifu/Husbando "need" to get a character aspect is also lost on me, so no FOMO there. I guess I just view it as a F2P/Grindy Persona 5 knock off.
I really see this as a filler game to play when short on time or in between big single player games.
The graphics look good and the story while very GotG like probably would be interesting but feels like it will get wasted on a PvP game. All the devs for these games are coming up with some interesting concepts and characters but the market is just saturated and nothing has been able to dethrone COD and Fortnite.
I'm terrible at FPS but throwing all skill levels in together for the beta ain't it. Maybe they'll have a free weekend upon release and then I'll give it another go when I can get matched up with appropriately skilled players.
I've got around 14 hours in so far. Didn't stick with Genshin or HSR more than a few hours but this seems to be the Hoyo game that has finally clicked with me. I think it will be one of those games that will make a good filler game in between more traditional games. I like the genre mashup they are going for, the characters and music are good and the combat is engaging enough for my liking.
I love a good rhythm game, Beat Saber and Superbeat Xonic are two of my favorites. If anyone wants to try it out before buying there's a demo available on steam. After trying it out I'll think I'll end up picking this up. Having a VR mode is also an added bonus. Also the base game is on sale for $14 if you have PS+
Massive IMO did a wonderful job with making The Division 2s version of DC. While it's taking place in a world where most of the population has died the detail and objects in the environments almost tells their own story. Go into an apartment and there's remnants of a life abruptly ended, walk through a diner and there are plates with half eaten meals, dogs, deer, raccoons scurry about the map.
The open world portion is the part I'm least worried about. The gameplay and story is the part that would give me pause.
I was going to ignore this article at first because I'm here for gaming. Then I clicked and saw the amazing food in your pictures and now I'm in. I'm going to have to pick this up now.
I always preferred the college football series over Madden. I believe this will be the first sports title to be current gen only, I'm sure that helps a ton, not having to compromise or split focus with old hardware probably makes it easier to see out the vision.
I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. I like that it's feels like a mix of persona and other Hoyo games. The MC proxies and the 3 main battle characters are also a great characters with fun personalities so that helps. Looks great and the combat is fun. I don't fully understand all the gacha mechanics. I see this as a good filler game.
ZZZ feels like a cross between Persona and Genshin in a good way. The story also seems a bit more straight forward. The controls are very good and the art style is great. This might be the Hoyo game that clicks for me.
Not much of a loss, it was going to be a prequel. I'm interested in the post-post apocalyptic world with robot dinos, not the human struggles of dealing with climate change and destroying the earth.
I didn't know Wolf Among Us 2 was coming this year so that has instantly shot to the top. My other 4 choices are Star Wars Outlaws, Silent Hill 2, EA CFB 25. With the sleeper being Lollipop Chainsaw: RePop I loved the original.
Edit: Would probably bump Lollipop Chainsaw would be replaced by Pro Yakyuu Spirits if it was on the list. Yeah I have to create a JPN PSN to be able to buy it but it looks like the best baseball game ever and what I hoped MLB the Show would be at this point. Can I read Japanese no. That what modern tech is for I'll be able to figure it out thanks to google translate.
I played just short of 20 hours. I went back and forth on continuing but ultimately uninstalled. There is a lot to like but the end goal is to have fun and the time commitment necessary is too steep for me. It leans more towards an ultra competitive esport realm. It really is a very polished experience and I wish them the best but it's not for me.
I want another game in that setting doesn't really need to be a direct sequel. The atmosphere of BB is amazing and is what initially drew me in. If they do a remaster/remake give us the sequel first then go for the easy money of a do over.
No platinum I didn't even notice, I was to busy learning the game and having fun.
I do find some trophies interesting especially if I notice a trophy popped for something really rare that I didn't intentionally do.
I have 3 platinum trophies 2 of them came from just completing episodes of a telltale game and the other was from Spider-Man. The Spider-Man I completed because most of it were just simple task that I enjoyed doing.
I'll be missing my parry timing in Stellar Blade, knocking out some season pass levels in The Division 2 and continuing to try my hand with the Valorant beta.
I try to avoid guides for all games but I see it this way. If I die to a boss/enemy 5 times straight and don't seem to be making any progress it's time for the guide. If I sit at a puzzle for 10 minutes time for a guide. If I still can't figure it out time to lower difficulty when possible. I'm playing games as a hobby, not get stressed out. Play how you want as long as you're having fun... unless your playing an multi player shooter... PLAY THE OBJECTIVE!
MMO or action RPG seems to be splitting hairs as the full abbreviation since forever is MMORPG. So in New Worlds case it's an MMO(A)RPG. Calling it an action RPG doesn't disqualify it from being an MMO.
Anyway I played it for a bit on PC was into it for a couple of weeks then fell of it. Just wasn't that interesting of a game.
Just an FYI that wasn't mentioned in the article, for the unaware this is online only with no offline mode. To my knowledge the game is strictly going to be PvP. Don't play sports titles online so this is of little interest to me.
I could see this being a blow to eFootball if the game play is good enough. Konami basically release a worse version of eFootball '21 as their F2P game. If a 2K/FIFA partnership materializes and has both online H2H and a career mode that seems like more of a threat to EAs dominance.
I completed the companion and some of the character towers. Played a bunch a lot of the invasion mode. I had planned to really commit to it for the long haul but ultimately fell off. The cosmetics and skins when I stopped playing back in January had been pretty meh and the Kameo system needs to go. Personally I liked the story as it should make for a better roster going forward. MK11 was really good and they should have just built off the foundation of that gameplay wise. Hopefully MK13 or 2 or whatever they call it will be more MK X or 11 and less MK1.
I remember seeing the CGI trailer a year ago. When exactly is this supposed to be coming out. I really wish this companies would stop releasing trailers years in advance. If it's not coming out within 6 months to a year, stay quiet.
I get big Rogue Company vibes. RC had a lot of potential but the studio pivoted with some weird choices and unwillingness to fix many bugs. It was on of the few Online Shooters I've really enjoyed.
If it ends up like I'm thinking, I'm most excited for the more explorer-y/scouting aspect. I would to just hop and find and discover random nice looking spots name them leave a small hut and/or supplies behind and comeback later to find a more intrepid person(s) have created a small little community.
Hopefully they learned their lessons from NMS and the game launches in a great state from the start. I spent well over 200+ hours in the game before the first huge game changing update. Had the game that exists now was what we got upon launch it could have easily been my most played game with with a few 1000 hrs played.
Well since Ubi cancelled the Division: Heartland (which seemed to be a nearly ready to release game) and moved some of that team on to this project maybe it will improve. My money on this dying fairly quickly. It's going to take something truly special to knock COD of it's perch.
Why make the transition when games continue(d) to be cross-gen with many games not having a noticeable benefit in many cases. Had a majority of games went PS5 only in 2022 it would be a different story. I'm not sure I would have upgraded if I had known 4 years later that I'd be able to play a majority of new games on PS4.
Looks interesting and want to go in as blind as possible so I only skimmed through the review and jumped to the pro con section.
I'm really starting to fall in love with the quirky interesting indie and "AA" titles. For so long I've been chasing the highs that come with huge titles like the Witcher 3, RDR2, Mass Effect, HZD only to be let down. I've been playing some smaller titles this year and have gotten so much more joy out of these often one off experiences.
Heard so much about this over the years but just shrugged it off as the hype-train. I played this for the first time a few months back and it instantly made it on to my list of all-time favorites.
Once I'm done with a game I'm done. Especially if the game experience really resonated with me. I loved Fallout 4 first time through loved the decisions I made. That story and experience is done for me now. It's a bit different then rewatching movie/tv where sure you could pick out or notice something new but largely the experience is the same everytime. Unless it's an MMO or other type of never ending game I don't really have the desire to go back.
For those jumping back in hope you get tons of enjoyment on another go around.
Does the main Brotherhood of Steel character (Maximus???) 0become more likeable. I find his scenes hard to watch as I'm waiting for some redeeming quality to appear. You could accidentally stumble upon content that was introduced later and characters would talk about events that you hadn't experienced yet in the story.
Similar issue jumping back into The Division 2. The seasonal story content cant be experienced natural since your locked out of all but the last major mission of a given season. I ended up watching a video to catch me up to speed. That eases things a bit but would have loved to experience it through game play rather than a youtube video.
Love that other studios are taking pokemon like formula and bringing it to a wider audience. This and Palword for example. Talk of a possible PS6 game already. sigh Guess PS5 will go down as the "lost" console generation. Released during a pandemic, locked into cross gen titles for far to long, a potential PS5 pro releasing when the base version has barely sniffed it's potential.
