Re: Persona 3 Reload (PS5) - A Stunning Remake of a Classic RPG, Polished to Near Perfection

AldusRavencorn

My only experience was the original version of Persona 5. I wasn't sure about this release at first but now I'm definitely interested. I didn't replay or buy the later editions of P5 and have no desire to so playing what will wind up being the base version or P3 Reloaded is fine with me. I loved my single play through of P5 and looks like I'll enjoy P3 just as much. I'll gladly let my dollars be the catalyst for more completionist players to get a "definitive" version of the game.

Re: Soapbox: This Is Why Physical Games Are Still Important to Me

AldusRavencorn

I'm all digital now. In an alternate timeline where my apartment didn't get broken into and all my physical media stolen I'd probably be 50/50. I've long sinced moved from that apartment but that has scarred me. So unfortunately I'm all digital now. I'd probably I'd love to go back to the days where I could trade in my sports titles or games I ended up absolutely disliking.

Re: Pour One Out for Gran Turismo Sport, Now Delisted from PS Store

AldusRavencorn

Didn't they say the servers go offline at the end of the month? As far as I'm aware the servers are still up. They never said they'd let you keep buying it until the server goes offline. It makes sense to de-list now. Rather than have people unknowingly continue to buy it and then get upset when they can't go online with it.

Re: PS5 Live-Service Game Marathon Has Reportedly Been Delayed to 2025

AldusRavencorn

All these failed/pushed back live service games are the basically the same, nothing unique about them. Live service multiplayer games that live on for years and years just can't be wished to existence. If it's going to happen it's going to happen organically. You just can't force the next GTA Online or Fortnite. The next great live service game is going to happen to a random game nobody expected much of.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Promises Major PS5, PS4 Update Next Week

AldusRavencorn

Things that would make for a major update.

  • Addition of a B-Spec Mode
  • Sophy AI
  • multiple new tracks
  • major change to race payouts across the board.
  • a true customizable race HUD
  • Dynamic Weather cycle across all tracks.
  • 24 hour day night cycle (on tracks were applicable)
  • Single player custom championships
  • A penalty system that actually worth something in Sport Mode.
I'm not saying I need all of that or expect most of it but if a major update is coming it has to be more than just a the typical update with a few extra cars.

Still my most played game over the last 2 years though.

Re: Even Without the FIFA Name, EA Sports FC Snags Over 11 Million Players in First Week

AldusRavencorn

I just refer to it as FC '24.

With that said this is the best of the recent FIFA/FC games. They have a long way to go in terms of career mode depth and customization though. They've implemented a few new mechanics though.

It's so close to being really good. If this sports game devs would just get the chance to make separate game-play for online and offline we'd be golden. From the outside I don't think online players really care about realistic gameplay they want high scores and to do fancy skill moves. Offline people want AI teammates that aren't brain dead. EA try to strike a balance that often favors the online needs/wants.

I'd be interested in what they could pull off if they just rebuilt the game from the ground up. Seems like a lot of legacy stuff ends up not meshing well with the new features.

Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update Is an Outstanding, Game-Changing Overhaul

AldusRavencorn

I might give this another try sounds like some promising changes. I initially gave up very early when a certain thing happens that makes me question why (or role playing purposes) even think about doing the any sidequests. However I just did some reddit diving and read there is a moment that I either hadn't reached or missed that I think will help my brain accept that it's "okay" to be off doing sidequests.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Release Date Reportedly Slated for November 2024

AldusRavencorn

I didn't trade in my PS4 Pro but I'll defenitely do so if I get a PS5 Pro. Maybe by the time it drops most games will have finally left last gen behind. How many PS5 only games have we actually gotten since release, I'm drawing a blank other than Ratchet & Clank and Returnal. They are prime examples of what could have been for a base PS5 when the Pro drops there should be no excuses for games not running and looking their best.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws' PS5 Planets Will All Be Handcrafted and Feel Like a Journey

AldusRavencorn

I'm looking forward to exploring the worlds if going off the work Massive did with The Division 2 will be an indication of the planet quality. I recently started playing D2 after never finishing it when it was released and post outbreak D.C. is great to explore and just marvel at. The weather, day night cycle, wildlife, random bits of civilization strewn is just perfect. Sometime one of the roaming factions catches me off guard because I'm off looking at some random detail. This all from a game that's almost 5 years old. Excited to see what they can do now.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 1.35 Update Adds New Cars and Events on PS5, PS4

AldusRavencorn

I thought they would never add more songs to music rally. Now they just need to add it to the menu with everything else instead of splitting it off. I know people trash the mode but I enjoy it as a nice side activity. This definitely isn't the old school single player GT game we thought we'd get but I've definitely got my moneys worth. Was my most played game last year and will probably nab the top spot again this year.

Re: F1 23 (PS5) - A FIFA Level Experience for F1 Fans

AldusRavencorn

Some early reviews last time for the F1 game got me not this time EA. Waste of money. The very least they could do is go out and laser scan the tracks so they are more accurate. Going from something like Assetto Corso or even GT7 the tracks in the F1 games are bad.

Other than being popular FIFA isn't exactly something a game should be aspiring to be like as it barely represents the actual sport.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1's Breathtaking First PS5 Footage Stains Summer Game Fest

AldusRavencorn

I watched it a higher quality version over on youtube and I say it looks a least on par with MK11. I do think this looks a bit more cartoon-y though. Not saying it's good or bad at this stage but we'll see.

What I'm not a fan of so far is the kameo's. Seems kind of silly to me. I'm not good against other people so I only fight the CPU so I hope there's an option to turn that feature off. Maybe it will grow on me though. It's really the only thing keeping this from being a day one purchase right now.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?

AldusRavencorn

I'm on the fence. Loved HZD, but barely tolerated HFW. Actually had to force myself to finish it. I thought the story was pretty awful. At the very least it ratcheted up the crazy to an extreme level when it wasn't necessary. The gameplay was good and it looked great but not sure I want to invest anymore in this sequel and even less excited about a third installment. Maybe if a deep discount comes I'd think about it.
