@Mostik If you enjoyed the Portal games then the Talos Principle is a must! That and The Witness were top notch puzzle games last gen. Really looking forward to this sequel.
For all the money this franchise makes, they still have the laziest (or just not so talented) developers. There is definitely a way to make these files sizes smaller and separate parts of the game install based on what people actually want to play considering available technology and their no doubt fat budget.
Best Buy is on its last legs in my opinion. Unlike Target, Walmart, Costco etc, they only sell electronics. Their workforce has shrunk to the point where their customer service is frankly appalling in comparison to days gone by. There have been rumours of an Amazon takeover for several years but only for the benefit of having certain brick and mortar locations or perhaps the uniquely positioned Geek Squad home services. Either way I give Best Buy 5 maybe 10 years tops.
Looking forward to House of Ashes, I always wait for a sale or PS plus with that series but it's fun. Disco Elysium is one of the best games of the decade in my opinion. I didn't think it would be for me and then I was utterly enthralled. I hope more gamers give it a whirl. Finally, if anyone with a passing interest in survival horror or the Alien Saga somehow missed Alien Isolation then now is as good a time as any! Scariest game ever made for me.
At this point in time it's a really great game. Essential if you're interested in a fps action RPG with a very decent narrative. CDPR finally got there.
@HotGoomba It's the buildings new owners who are being greedy. Silly nonsense that a building requires copyright agreement in any case. Yay American capitalism.
@Max_the_German Agreed. It's outrageous that you need copyright agreements over a building in a city. The Chrysler buildings new owners should be ashamed of their greed.
@Jayslow As a UK transplant, I use Peacock to watch Premier League football and professional Rugby games (including the World Cup starting this September). It's also got Law and Order!
@ear_wig Yeah it's the only 'realistic' Alien(s) game along with Isolation in that respect. I'm a wimp/I don't have as many gaming hours in my middle age though so I'm employing custom difficulty settings to make certain aspects less brutal. It's still challenging regardless.
@ear_wig My advice is to consider custom difficulty options. The game even warns you it's going to be tough. When you've lost all your Marines that's it, 'game over man game over!' You can extract from missions at any point (if you can get back to the vehicle safely) and come back better prepared but each time you do this you skip a day and each day the hive gets more aggressive and the game ultimately tougher. You can't change difficulty during the game and restarting means running through the tutorial prologue again (I loved it though). Things to consider.
@Alexface I was in the same position but ended up absolutely loving that game. Yeah it's weird and has plenty of what people would consider Kojima quirks but it really sucked me in, I did skip most side quests but since completing it last year I now enjoying coming back to do some here and there. It's a Marmite game and I was pleasantly surprised by what side I landed on
@BusyOlf I'm not a big strategy player, I really wanted to get into XCOM but likewise I couldn't. Aliens Dark Descent can be hard but there are custom difficulty options and a story mode if you mostly want to enjoy the atmosphere (you can't change difficulty during the game FYI). It's not crazy deep in terms of it's systems and I'm finding it quite accessible for an RTS rookie. If you're still unsure then certainly wait for that price drop but I think it's worth a look as a fan of the film.
Being a huge Aliens fan I just went for it and it's right up there with Isolation for me albeit a different type of game. It's incredibly faithful to all things Aliens, the score, the aesthetic, the level design etc. It really is quite terrifying considering the isometric RTS aspect. What this dev has achieved is testament to how passionate they are about the Aliens universe. There is another big console patch due any day now, they are listening to feedback through a Discord group. For $40 this game is a must if you have any interest whatsoever and a rare gem for the Aliens fans out there!
I'll never understand why anyone on Push Square or Pure Xbox defend these companies. I own all three consoles but I'm not blind to the consistently cynical and anti competitive practices both MS and Sony employ. That's just business but as gamers, if either company were to have their way we'd all be far worse off.
Maybe it's because I grew up in the UK but despite living in the US, these Cricket games keep me engaged longer than MLB the Show. Sure they lack the presentation and overall polish but the sport itself is so much more variable and action orientated (the latter being the short forms at least!).
@ShogunRok Apologies if you've already answered this above but would you recommend this game to a Final Fantasy virgin?! Witcher 3 was my first fully fledged fantasy RPG despite gaming since the 80's. This game seems too good to pass up but I'm concerned I won't have any previous context for the lore/characters etc. Thanks in advance!
I strongly feel this should have been a mini series instead of a film. HBO or Apple TV could have pulled it off quality wise. This story doesn't suit the feature length format whatsoever. It obviously won't be for everyone but could pull a lot of people into the world much like The Last of a Us did with non gamers. I've only played MGSV and DS when it comes to Kojima but the latter was an incredible experience only truly possible in video gaming. I hope the sequel is necessary.
There is so much talent in the gaming industry compared to ten or twenty years ago, it'll be interesting to see if Dan Houser and his team can actually stand out in anyway.
@nessisonett I'm hoping 2K are taking the mechanics seriously in a way that they're testing the water for a potential EA Football/new FIFA/eFootball competitor.
I don't know why other reviewers in the industry aren't adopting the Famitsu methodology. Having several viewpoints and a consensus score makes a lot of sense although I guess we can go to Metacritic for that too.
I definitely got my money's worth with 2 years of Gamepass ultimate bundled with the Series X but recently cancelled while waiting for some better games to appear (Starfield). I've kept PS plus as my occasional online gaming takes place in PlayStation. I'm not against the sub model as it stands. Third party exclusivity periods are what really needs to end.
Trek to Yomi looks incredible but I tired of it after a few hours on Gamepass. Jurassic World is fantastic if you have an interest in park management and dinosaurs, it's got the original music from all the films too which is a nice touch. I'll give NBA a go but SSD space is tight and I have NBA Jam TE.
PVP, F2P or paid FPS. The market is saturated at this point. Servers are being shut down for games less than two years old. Let's have some originality people, not just a fleeting payday!
@Tharsman I came to Days Gone late but with the silky smooth 60fps on PS5 and no bugs to speak of, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's in my top zombie genre games ever with Last of Us 1+2, certain Resident Evil games, Dead Rising and Dying Light 1. The hordes are still incredible to see in action.
PVP, FPS, F2P or paid. The market is saturated at this point. Servers are being shut down for games less than two years old. Let's have some originality people, not just a fleeting payday!
@UltimateOtaku91 Agreed. Patience is a virtue, this generation is going to be stacked. Soon everyone will be complaining there are too many games and not enough time/money to play them all. That'll be me anyway.
@Shad361 My backlog is honestly mostly current gen. I probably have more game time than most adults but still can't keep up with the outlay of games. Compared to the 90's we're positively spoiled for choice. I'm as excited as the next person about the upcoming PS exclusives.
Jeez does no one else have a backlog?! Who has time for so many games anyway, I'm hoping the AAA/exclusives are spaced out so I don't have to skip any. This showcase had some really promising games, looking forward to The Talos Principle 2 and Alan Wake in particular. I'm fairly certain the impatient and seemingly entitled gaming community are all <30 years old.
Night in the Woods was one of my favourite indie titles of recent years. Great art/animation style and an infectious soundtrack. Looking forward to this.
I still get screen flickering which doesn't occur in the base game or any other game for that matter. (I'm playing in performance mode). Anyone else having this issue?
I'm no fan of FIFA as an organization but I'm hoping they maybe partner with Konami to offer viable competition to EA Sports FC. The basics are there in eFootball but it's still bare bones and has the same awful interface. Going a little old school here but I'd love a modern reimagining of Sunset Riders with full local and online co op. Or just a good port that includes both Megadrive and Snes versions.
I personally found Gamepass to be the better overall service since the launch of both consoles - great third party games, amazing indie titles, and ahem, one or two exclusives.... until now. I'll be keeping my PS plus subscription going, mainly for my backlog and online gaming but sadly end my Gamepass subscription (after finishing Grounded) until Starfield and other new titles I'm interested in appear. Gamepass has an incredible library for something that's cheaper than Netflix but I've exhausted all I want to play. I'd say both services are excellent value.
I thoroughly enjoyed both Horizon games despite the slightly tired open world formula. I guess there is more story to tell in this series but I'd love to see a new IP from Guerrilla.
My PS1 played second fiddle to my N64, the PS2 to my Xbox, I skipped the PS3 for the Xbox 360. Sony really came into it's own with the PS4 imo. I completely ignored the Xbox One and never looked back. The greatest PS3 exclusives I missed out on were all remastered for PS4. This gen I have both Series X and PS5 but the bulk of third party releases get played on PS5 largely for the dual sense features unless they're on Gamepass which has been fantastic value nonetheless. Xbox is having another very quiet generation however so I'm curious to see what happens after this one.
If developers even read Metacritic community reviews, I doubt they pay attention to anything below a 6 or a 7, as unless they know their game is average to poor, 5 and below usually denotes a knee jerk emotive reaction or straight up trolling.
Dying Light is still in my top 5 zombie genre games of all time. It's easily the best zombie open world game imo. I came to it late but it nails almost everything I wanted from the b movie score to actual fear/panic felt in the darkness at night. It wasn't perfect but it came close for me. I uninstalled Dying Light 2 after less than 8 hours. Bland characters and writing, not challenging or creepy and very repetitive on a larger scale than the first game. Maybe it's open world fatigue but I thought this was a significant step down. I hope they get better writers for the third game and perhaps go back to a smaller map.

'Four hours'. Warzone is free so it's basically $70 for multiplayer. I doubt enough people will vote with their wallet nonetheless.
