It doesn't come as a huge surprise, but Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is real, and it's releasing very soon on PS5 and PS4.

Longtime fans of the classic series will be thrilled to know that Kain returns in just a matter of weeks, on the 3rd March. The revival's available to pre-order on the PS Store right now.

Much like the relatively recent Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, Defiance Remastered will boast all kinds of extras alongside a few important gameplay updates.

If we're remembering right, Defiance played much better than its predecessors, but it could still be rather unwieldy, so we're hoping that these updates make a positive difference.

Here's a quick summary of what's new:

  • Modern HD Graphics – Updated high-definition visuals applied across the entire experience
  • Camera Upgrades – Right-stick camera control with full Y-axis movement augments the original fixed camera.
  • Graphics and Camera Toggle – Instantly switch between remastered and original graphics at any point during gameplay, including Photo Mode
  • World & Level Maps – Improved wayfinding to support exploration
  • Character Skins – Unlockable skins drawn from across Legacy of Kain history, including Kain’s human noble form and Raziel’s vampiric appearance
  • Lore & Archival Content – Lost levels, concept art, and lore articles fans have come to expect
