Perhaps in an effort to offset mounting disappointment surrounding PlayStation Plus’ free game giveaways, Sony has announced December and January’s PlayStation 4 lineups ahead of time. Regular readers will already be aware of this, but just in case you’ve lapsed – don’t worry, we won’t hold it against you – the platform holder has prepared this slick new YouTube video which should give you a taste of what to expect.
Starting in December, you’ll be able to download superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us and isometric Western shooter Secret Ponchos as part of your premium subscription. Then, in January, the Instant Game Collection will be bolstered by the arrival of inFAMOUS: First Light and The Swapper. There’s no word yet on what the PlayStation 3 and Vita will receive, but we reckon that these four provide a solid basis to build from.
Are you happy with these releases, or is the manufacturer’s membership scheme falling short at the minute? Put your thumbs up or down in the comments section below.

This stinks. I have Injustice and First Light. I think last months was better than Decembers.
@Jaz007 Haha, so do I actually. I blame everyone that didn't like the previously unreleased indie games!
Oh my god, I've been pumped for Secret Ponchos since it was talked about at E3 2013, so December already looks radical.
Meh....free trophies I guess.
instead of the usual 2 on each platform, i think sony should drop ps3's igc collection and opt for 3-3 with vita and ps4. ps3 already had tons of AAA's games on igc this past years.
I find it ironic that this is supposed to excite us and they announce it early because they're proud, but for me it's the worst update since the ps4 came out. mostly because it's a fighting game.
I am super happy about injustice I was thinking about getting this the other day as well so good timing. I still love my Ps plus subscription
Either way people are going to complain but it's better Sony start putting some retail games on there now.
@get2sammyb
Would've helped if the vast majority of the indie games released for free weren't mediocre at best. Should've had more games like Transistor or Guacamelee for free and less like Contrast.
Wow Secret Ponchos looks interesting I hope it's free in America as well.
Well now here is the problem with adding AAA games like Injustice to the Free with PSN+. What about people like me who already went and bought the game? Are they going to give us our money back? Can we get another game for free? Of course the answer is going to be no.
So now I am hit with the dilemma of buying an AAA game should I buy it now or just wait a year for it to be free on PS+. If alot of people think the lateral that hurts game sales then I mean why pay $60 now for the latest AC game for example when I have to do is wait for it to be free?
IMO they should have just stuck with the indies.
My PS+ expires BF from last years sale. Anybody hear any rumors about a new sale?
PS TV bundle is down to $100 a few places but I just can't buy it with that abysmal app selection. Bad enough many of the top Vita games dont play on it, but if I wanted a gaming device without Netflix Id buy a Wii Mini.
Loved infamous so trying out first light is a plus, I bought injustice on vita, don't like it much so well see if this is any better, not sure yet about ponchos, I don't like playing games from daft angles but I'll still give it a go, I was gonna buy the swapper at some point so this is another bonus. Its a decent month of free games imo
Boo! So nothing for PS3 or Vita except for The Swapper. Sony still knows people play PS3 and Vita too right?
It's free games. People complain. I paid years for Xbox live and got nothing free ever. If you already have the game, so what. I personally don't get each and every game so I have a good chance picking up games via ps+. Still, nothing for me in dec and January as I'm busy with gta and lbp anyways!
People were praising Sony when they started handing out AAA titles for PS Plus members and now that we transition to the PS4 people are upset because they are handing out AAA titles because they already own them. You are paying for a service where part of the benefit is that you get free games each month and they select the games to give out. You are not paying for free games that you do not already have. That's the gamble of PS Plus. I say if you like a game buy it and if you are not sure either rent it or wait for PS Plus but there is no guarantee that it will be on PS Plus. Don't forget about the other benefits either. See, the next two months for me are going to be great because I haven't purchased any of those games. If I did own them no big deal there will be more months to come where I will get games that I do not own. If you are just getting PS Plus just to get free games then that is the problem.
@HeroOfCybertron Your reading comprehension skills are terrible.
Title of the article: "These Are Your Free PS4 PlayStation Plus Titles in December and January"
In the middle of the article: "There’s no word yet on what the PlayStation 3 and Vita will receive..."
@PMasterTy9 @Scollurio Exactly
@elwyn5150 A bit intense, eh?
Lets not go there. You made your point and there is no need to insult other users. -Tasuki-
@Gamer83 I think the thing here is that the devs of games like Guacamelee:STCE and Transistor knew that they could release at a decent price point and make a decent profit out of it, so as product owners I can see why they would go down that route. But now, those are exactly the types of games I can see coming in next year's selection, and I'm more than happy with that idea
I can't believe everybody's complaining so much. This is the first time in ages I've looked at a PS+ game announcement and been pleased with the selection. I'm getting sick of receiving multiple indie "retro" 8-bit games for free - I bought my PS4 for its exceptional graphical abilities, not for its ability to replicate a Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
Like someone who commented earlier, I don't like fighting games, but I still see Injustice: Gods Among Us as a step in the right direction.
I've been on the fence about first light for a while, until I played it round a mates house. I was going to cough up the £15 or so to download this but glad to hear I can now get it for free!
I dont really care for Injustice but Secret Ponchos and LastLight look like good freebies. Personally, the whole year for PS+ has been pretty lacking. I wont be renewing my sub since the only game I play online is DA:I and that's already getting a bit boring.
Looks like people won't be happy until they start receiving uncharted 4, and batman arkham knight for "free", before those games even release! Lol. Smh.
These games are good. I can see games like Thief and killzone coming down the pipeline in the following months. I don't expect ps + to take off until 2016 or so anyway, it was crappy the first few months on ps3, everything takes time.
Not a complaint here about PS Plus, actually prefer getting previously unreleased indie games as opposed to AAA which if they were worth playing I'd already have got. Dust from last month has taken up much of my gaming time - enjoyed it a lot!!
Playing 'First Light' now & it is EXCELLENT + Looking at the Graphics in 'First Light' they are sooooooooooooooooo much better than 'Watch_Dogs' to. That makes me even more disappointed in Multi-format games this Gen :-/ Oh well, MORE PS4 Exclusive PLEASE SONY!
Can I have sex with Fetch, if I buy another year of plus?
@Tasuki What about those that have already bought Swapper? Does tgis not apply to them too?
If the whole point with Plus is to get folk to play games they wouldnt otherwise play, then "triple a" should absolutely be in there.
On topic: Looking forward to Secret Ponchos, been waiting for that game for ages!
It's better that there's a couple of big names in there but still find it poor personally. Injustice is boring (I just can't get into anything Netherealm make nowadays), Secret Ponchos looks boring too (not my type of game), First Light I've already Platted and is a red herring as it's about five hours long and Swapper just doesn't intrigue me.
Bigger picture wise it's good to see a couple of bigger names but nothing here is AAA. People confuse a well known name with AAA quality. These aren't. Will quieten a few naysayers though. As for me... my PS+ runs out in five days and I have no intention of renewing with this lineup so I'm intrigued to see the PS3/Vita titles. Then again what is actually left to give away on either of those consoles?
@PMasterTy9 Yeah, people forget we now use PS+ to pay for PSN. And the money is being well used there by Sony in making the service slower and more unreliable than ever.
Some people are just never satisfied! I already have First Light but Im happy those that don't will get to try it for themselves. Nearly bought The Swapper so Im glad I waited as I'll be getting it for free.
The Instant Game Collection on PS4 can only get better from here on out...
@elwyn5150 I now the article was only talking about Plus games for PS4 I just get a little annoyed whenever Sony talks about something for the the PS3, Vita and PS4 (like PS Plus) but only mentions the PS4.
Nature of tinternets, people feel more obliged to partake when the gripe is on. This article should be locked every month for the first 24 hours, call it a cool down period.
Finally a couple games that aren't garbo.
Good. I have Injustice already, it's awesome - most of my mates had it for PS3 though, so this is awesome. Looking forward to Ponchos too.
To be honest, I don't moan about the IGC games ever. Even if I ultimately don't like something, there's a good chance that it got me to try something different that I wouldn't have played otherwise.
I knew Injustice would be free at some point but I still ended up buying it back when it was on sale. Same for First Light but I didn't think that one would be free so soon.
Thumbs up. I was actually gonna get First Light a day before I heard of the lineups for Dec, Jan. I'm glad I waited just a little longer . I'm still hoping for a cool indie cross buy game though , but I don't have any of these games on PS4 yet so it'll be a good couple of months for me!
@Bad-MuthaAdebis Good idea. Or the people moaning about people complaining in the first twenty-four hours could just not bother. For every one person on here saying "awful month" there's ten moaning at them for being "disloyal," "pathetic," "sad" or "ungrateful" for daring to have the nerve to think different from them.
Hey look at that - after year one of the consoles life - all the sudden we start getting more AAA picks? Oh you think its because of Driveclub? Hahaha....TOLD YA to just give it time
Please watch the language -Tasuki-
@rastamadeus most of the complaining will be from none PS4 owners here too, we don't even know what the rest is yet, it will most likely be average or cruddy but there's no need to jump the gun. In terms of everything offered on Vita and PS3 in the last 12 or so months its been pretty decent, easily worth the sub's, the last few months themselves have been pretty mediocre with more than usual bunch of below par Indies but where did PlayStation promise everyone 6 AAA games every month, may as well never buy a game again if they delivered on that. The IGC has been good but as expected in the first 12 months; the PS4 offerings have been slim. Personally I've not liked much at all from that's been offered on PS4 so far, I haven't though felt the urge to cry about it every month.
YEEESSS So Glad i didnt buy hem yet!!!! Injustice and first light!!!! XD looks like im gettin gifts this season after all, curse my current job Situation But Thankyou Sony!!!!
