Re: Red Dead Redemption PS4 Announcement Gets Slaughtered by Fans

xIFoxHound

People cannot be on board with this. I get that we have asked for this for countless years but this is literally the definition of the bare minimum. Please don’t support this, it’s beyond lazy and clearly an attempt at getting more money out of consumers. If we support this then it’s just letting developers know that they can do the bare minimum and still turn a profit. This does not make me excited for GTA6 if there is a GTA6 at this point.

Re: Xbox Insinuates It Bought Bethesda to Block Starfield PS5 Console Exclusivity

xIFoxHound

It’s a shouting contest between the two at this point and I don’t think anyone should be defending one company. On the one hand, yes, Sony has in fact more aggressively this generation and towards the end of last been buying timed exclusivity for titles, and Jim Ryan lobbying about the fact that PlayStation are vulnerable and weak if Xbox were to acquire Activision, even though he contradicts that whole statement when he said in an email that they’ll be more than fine and that they don’t believe Xbox will exclude them…it’s just Sony throwing their toys out of the pram because they won’t in fact be profiting all that much because they’ll be essentially putting money into Microsoft’s pockets if anyone buys one of their games on the PS system.

On the other hand Microsoft thinks they can solve everything with money which is a very bad practice for this industry. Bethesdas acquisition made more sense because Xbox and Bethesda had a close relationship to begin with, much like Sony and insomniac so as much as people want to condemn Microsoft, it’s not unlike what Playstation has done, with Sony lining Squares pockets to ensure Xbox doesn’t get Final fantasy 7, but yet put Cirsis core on the console even though Final Fantasy 7 is a system seller. It’s business at the end of the day, it’s sad to see it come to companies like Sony and MS buying developers left and right to try and compete but here we are

Re: Xbox on Charm Offensive to Push $69 Billion Activision Acquisition Through

xIFoxHound

@Anima616 no that’s not what they said. Phil repeatedly said that Bethesda’s titles going forward will remain on platforms where Game-pass exists. I can’t believe people seem to think Microsoft preached that games going forwards wouldn’t be affected. They said all existing obligations would be honoured (Live service games with content parity, exclusive deals like ghostwire and Deathloop remaining exclusive for a year ect). They made no such claim that ES6 or Starfield would come to Playstation

Re: Returnal Is Sony's Second Most Unpopular PC Game at Launch

xIFoxHound

@Doublecell They’ll announce games when they are ready though, there’s no point in announcing games without a release date. Sony have been pretty good lately at showcasing a game and then releasing it within the year, like Nintendo. The teams porting these games to PC are small so there’s not a lot of marketing going into them. I’d say they’ll wait until they have released PSVR2 to shift focus on the upcoming projects this year, be patient. There’s no point in directing hate to the studios that are taking the time to bring amazing games to another audience.

Re: Returnal Is Sony's Second Most Unpopular PC Game at Launch

xIFoxHound

@Doublecell Or maybe it’s the fact that it is 70 quid when the game is available on PS plus catalogue or it’s about 2 years old now. And I have to agree with the last response to your comment. It’s the toxicity of folk with that mindset that give the playerbase on PS a bad name. Games should be available to people one way or another, having more options is beneficial to everyone including Sony

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 404

xIFoxHound

Been playing lots of Halo Infinite multiplayer on Series X and having so much fun, will play through MCC to get myself ready for Infinites campaign next week. This weekend I’ve been playing Guardians on PS5 since it was on Black Friday sale and it’s great, needed a fun single player game to tide me over and I’m currently finishing up the last little bits of collectibles for Rift Apart platinum. Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Former Sony Boss Fearful of Industry Consolidation

xIFoxHound

@JapaneseSonic While not completely in the same vein, Microsoft and Bethesda were always closer to each other so really the buyout was inevitable and makes sense when you consider the console ports of their games being more favourable on Microsoft’s platform. It’s just further exacerbated that Bethesda had multiple divisions under its hood too.

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Has No PS5 Plans for Now

xIFoxHound

@TheCollector316 I think it’s more of a case of Microsoft expanding their brand beyond console, say what you want but subscription services are pretty much the new norm and it’s not going to slow down anytime soon. They’ve been smart with their approach and given with how many subscribers Game Pass has, it’s worked in their favour and good on them for it. I’ll play Sonys excellent first party games on their system while using my Series X for game pass, with all 23 studios under this belt which will all release day 1 if you own game pass, I don’t see how this is a negative for the consumer.

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Has No PS5 Plans for Now

xIFoxHound

@Profondo While Playstation has great exclusives as always, the acquisition of Bethesda will surely work in MS favour. Plus Elden Ring will also be on Xbox too and the rumours of Kojima working with MS on his next project (or his next project simply coming to the platform). It’s a great time to own both consoles, considering what both companies are offering this gen.

Re: Days Gone Lead Designer Thanks Fans for Playing the Game No Matter How Much Money They Spent

xIFoxHound

@YeoSprings While it’s nice that they’re at least letting the studio work on a new game, it still leaves a bitter taste. Considering the team was and still is passionate about this world they’ve created to want to refine and build upon the original. Sure the game was rocky at launch, but I think now considering more and more people have picked up the game now, the game will sell quite well with a sequel. If it’s true about Sony putting more value on metacritic scores and these triple A blockbuster exclusives as opposed to smaller innovative IP’s then it’s a little concerning for the future of the platform. Even though I wouldn’t exactly call Days Gone completely innovative, it was surprisingly fresh considering how crowded the post apocalyptic genre is.

Re: Resident Evil Village Demo: All Times You Can Play

xIFoxHound

Don’t think I need to explain just how ridiculous this approach is. Just release the “full” demo a week early for Playstation (just have the demo account based so once you have used up the 60 minutes then that’s you) then accordingly for other platforms.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Huge River Raid Update Incoming, Expected Next Week

xIFoxHound

@Floki Absolutely. Genuinely don’t see how people could NOT have screen tearing from this game. There’s people saying they’ve had zero screen tearing and the experience is smooth...in my experience it’s all of the larger cities, ESPECIALLY Jorvik and it kind of makes it absolutely distracting. And it’s the fact that we are now 3 months into the game and the issues haven’t been cleared up, it’s the same with the broken quests we have in the game (I’m looking at you Disorder of the ancients and prophecy pig) look this game has the potential to be great and I’m happy for the people that do enjoy this game but from my experience with all of the bugs and issues, it’s been a massive let down and the recent months have only shown me more that Ubisoft priorities profit over squashing the more serious bugs in this game.

Re: GTA 5 Ships 140 Million Copies, 2020 Its Best-Selling Year Since Launch

xIFoxHound

Money clearly isn’t an issue so I don’t see why they don’t give the people what they want. They know a gta remaster would sell like hot cakes because if you attach the Rockstar logo to any game then it’s guaranteed to be a sales success. I wish they would branch out and create new games (maybe that’s what they’re doing and that’s why they’re silent). Would like to see them get out of their comfort zone and try something that isn’t a GTA style game. Last game we got from them was Max Payne 3 and I’d kill to have a sequel or something like that next

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Backlash as Fans Accuse Ubisoft of Focusing on Microtransactions Over Bug Fixes

xIFoxHound

It’s still in bad taste to release paid microctransactions when there are bugs that prevent progression...bugs that render facial animation and lip syncing broken...bugs that prevent trophies from unlocking. This games state has been nothing short of rubbish. Look I get pandemic...different team...and not everyone has had these bugs but idk. The team that worked on this game definitely was a step down compared to Odyssey. Hell this was the team that done Black Flag and Origins so I have no idea what happened here. I’ve run into bugs that have prevented me from killing the final order member and I have a few world events that are bugged so I’m really at the mercy of the team fixing these issues because I am not spending another 125 hours in this game for 2 trophies. My first experience was already a buggy mess so I have no desire to put my days through another 100 hours of mediocre storytelling and combat.

Re: PS5 Stock Shortage Has UK Politicians Pushing for Online Bot Ban

xIFoxHound

Selling these systems above MSRP should be illegal regardless...it’s not a limited quantity (yes Covid and high demand means the production line can only supply so much at any one time) but the system will constantly be produced in the near future so there’s no justification to allow ANYONE to sell a “common” (which I’m assuming it will be) system for years and years to come at stupid inflated prices. The only reason it should go above MSRP if there’s additional hardware or software being sold with it. Absolute joke at this point.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla's New Patch Has Introduced a Bad Face-Breaking Bug

xIFoxHound

@fR_eeBritney Honestly! That was my mentality, like I felt the need to complete the area before moving on but the activities in those areas are the same as the ones before it so the game is very repetitive...the armour sets from the helix store are more compelling than the main game ones making the vanilla game ones almost redundant and pointless to obtain...I don’t need mastery points from completing the various mysteries that award ones because I almost one shot everything so the aspiration to obtain them just isn’t there (EVEN on very hard) also side note, don’t even get me started on the Cairn mysteries, whoever thought those were fun needs a serious evaluation on what that word actually means. I know it seems like I’m being overly harsh on the game and I get that there will be development issues when working from home but coming back from a year break from AC I thought the game would’ve been at least more compelling, instead it feels like a downgrade to Odyssey, I connected more with Kassandra, some side missions I absolutely loved and found hilarious and most of all, it was a lot more stable in terms of bugs and glitches considering how huge the game was. Maybe it’s a studio issue as well, seeing as this was from Montreal, who knows.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla's New Patch Has Introduced a Bad Face-Breaking Bug

xIFoxHound

Honestly this game is buggier than Unity and it has been from my experience. I enjoyed Odyssey so much so to come to this to experience trophies not popping, and in game progression trackers not properly tracking progress, screen tearing, crashes, bugged mysteries (Prophecy Pig has been bugged since launch and STILL hasn’t been fixed) that prevent 100% completion and main quests not progressing due to AI bugs ect and now lock jaw. It really needed more time. Also I’m sorry but to anyone that does enjoy it then that’s great, but this game is overly long, it just kept going even when they said it was shorter than Oddyssey...I was finished Odyssey in around 60 ish hours...fast forward I’m now at 110 hours in this game and the main story still isn’t over!

Re: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Limitations Block Call of Duty: Warzone from Running at 120 Frames-Per-Second

xIFoxHound

@thefourfoldroot

There’s no console war going on, you stated that all games ran better in true next generation games so far but there’s barely any we can compare as there’s no next gen titles yet other than the PlayStation exclusives and a special edition of a game released the previous year. I’m simply stating that the situation is no different on the Series S like it is on PC hardware, it’s all about developer scaleability

Re: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Limitations Block Call of Duty: Warzone from Running at 120 Frames-Per-Second

xIFoxHound

@thefourfoldroot

The thing is while the Series S doesn’t have as much compute power as both machines the reality is you don’t need as much memory bandwidth because you’re not loading the highest level MIP levels into memory. You don’t need the same amount of memory as well. All consoles are running RDNA architecture as opposed to the older machines. There’s a reason why it’s the cheaper next gen entry, it’s not 4k and it’ll downgrade the effects ect, but that’s for developers to implement, it won’t affect the newer machines. I don’t know why people get so caught up in that fact. It’s been stated by multiple developers that it’s not going to hold back next gen gaming. Microsoft is also relying on a technique called sampler feedback streaming in the Xbox Series S and X to improve the efficiency of SSD bandwidth. Sampler feedback streaming gives developers much more control over how data is delivered to the GPU for rendering, meaning only the textures that a GPU needs for a scene will be loaded into memory so it’ll save big on performance. Like I said, it’s only up to developers if they choose to optimise for the series S which developers already do for PC anyways so there is no reason why the can’t effectively, I’m not a fan of the series S, but for the price and for the technology inside it, it’s quite clever, even with the compromises to catch up with the now current gen.

Re: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Limitations Block Call of Duty: Warzone from Running at 120 Frames-Per-Second

xIFoxHound

@thefourfoldroot

There are no true next generation games as of yet as games that are working on the newer systems are also cross platform with PS4 and Xbox One with the addition of ray tracing, enhanced features and taking advantage of the SSD speeds ect. If you’re referring to DmC then there are modes where both consoles have limitations and advantages. But that in no way should be indicative of what lies ahead as developers are still optimising for the new hardware. And you can’t really compare spiderman and demons souls as they’re PlayStation only titles.

I’m just finding the middle ground here, both consoles are showing advantages and limitations in some areas but we are not going to know for sure until we have games running on both consoles designed for next generation in mind and not running off of an older pre existing engine.

Re: Marvel's Avengers Details Even More Reasons to Play on PS5, PS4

xIFoxHound

I just think business practices like this has to stop, especially in a big multi platform game like this. Exclusives are one thing but basically giving a platform more content in favour of money, I think it’s indecent of the developer tbh. It’s smart because it does boost the sales on that platform but you can’t deny it’s not fair for fans of of The Avengers that just don’t happen to have a PlayStation.

Re: Spider-Man Confirmed as a PlayStation Exclusive Character in Marvel's Avengers

xIFoxHound

@thefirst No I i know. We don’t know fully the extent of it. It’s just how the news is presenting itself at the moment. Because owners of other platforms aren’t getting the full Avengers experience, locking out a pretty substantial Avenger. And if it is permanent then it’s pretty crappy of both parties for allowing it, I get that it is business however.

Re: Spider-Man Confirmed as a PlayStation Exclusive Character in Marvel's Avengers

xIFoxHound

@thefirst Yes but the difference there was that it was never exclusive to the platform. It was only temporary and arguably when it did release on PlayStation it was cheaper (for obvious reasons and came with more content). Blatantly locking away content from other platforms forever isn’t pro consumer. I get Spider Man is Sony’s mascot but it’s essentially less content for others that don’t have another system. Especially for a multiplat game like this

Re: PS Plus May 2020 Reveal Has Been a Disaster, One of the Worst Received Months Ever

xIFoxHound

I’ll give both games a try because they are free with the subscription and the last couple of months weren’t that bad, especially when you got an additional 2 free games last month. But I must say, Sony are becoming complacent. I understand it’s to not draw attention away from TLOU2 or Ghosts of Tushima or hell its probably the pandemic. But Sony really have or still have a chance to generate hype for the PS5 or the platform as a whole, yet we aren’t getting anything. From a consumer standpoint it’s a bit worrying given the greater success of PS2, then the misfire that’s was the PS3 only to then gain that success back for the PS4 so I don’t know if this is a cycle or pattern with Sony. Like, the Ps5 needs to add a smart delivery system like Microsoft, I think Sony really needs to capitalise on their eco system like PS Now, sure it’s not terrible for about 8-9 quid a month but you look at Gamepass ultimate, yes it’s about 10 a month but I’d argue the games being added every few months more than make up the price of admission along with the benefits from gold.

As a gamer I love both platforms and want to see both succeed, there’s no harm in competition, I mean there’s a lot in toxicity. I won’t really argue with the free games every month because a lot of the time it’s games I wouldn’t normally see the time of day for so it widens my options and I even have more respect for different genres. But even if we got a few months of sub par games, it won’t bother me because my backlog just keeps growing!

Re: Days Gone Patch 1.08 Released, Fixes Progress-Halting Bugs and Audio Issues

xIFoxHound

Great game, however there’s some serious frame rate drops, especially on the pro when you reach camp settlements. Especially wizard island and Diamond lake. Game is gorgeous and fighting hordes is such a buzz. Don’t agree with a lot of review scores, I get the problems from a technical standpoint but from a gameplay and story perspective I thought it was great. Hope something else comes out of this!
