Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been on the market for over two months now, and although the game's in a better state than it was at launch — particularly on PS5 — it still has its fair share of annoying bugs. Some of these issues are minor at best, while others are preventing players from completing quests or advancing the main story. Make no mistake: there are still game-breaking bugs in Valhalla, and given the developer's approach to post-launch content, it's a complaint that's starting to gather more and more momentum.
Here's the thing: Ubisoft has promised a wealth of post-launch support for Valhalla. Free content updates and paid expansions form the backbone of the game's roadmap, but for some players, it's hard to get excited for upcoming DLC when the base release still needs work.
And this is where the microtransactions enter the equation. If there's one thing that Ubisoft hasn't had any issues with since launch, it's microtransactions. The in-game store receives regular updates pretty much without fail, adding new cosmetic items as well as unique armour sets. Speaking of which, the microtransaction store now features as many armour sets as the game itself — another point of contention for fans.
The armour situation has sparked increased debate surrounding Valhalla's direction on both Reddit and the official forums. Many fans are now starting to seriously question Ubisoft's approach, and the publisher is being accused of prioritising microtransactions ahead of fixing the game's ongoing issues.
Taking all of this into account, February should be a telling month for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The game is meant to be getting a huge update in the near future, adding a whole new 'River Raid' activity along with new skills, weapons, and armour. Presumably, this upcoming patch will also address a number of bugs. If all goes as intended, then we're sure Ubisoft will be cut some slack — but it's been a rocky road up until now.
