Re: Reaction: Sony's Live Service Push Has Been a Disaster of Utterly Insane Proportions

mrmartinrohr

Why don't they just realize THIS market is a huge lottery and it's more a matter of luck or persistence that some service games are successful.
You can't just throw money at it and a famous IP and think it will be a success.

If they would invest all the money they spent on these canceled or disastrous games, we would have another 3 or 4 fantastic AAA games to play and remember. But hey, they just can't leave that part of the market to the competition, right…

Re: Black Myth: Wukong Game Director Confirms There Was No Secret PS5 Exclusivity Deal

mrmartinrohr

@AgentMantis Really sounds like they should abandon pricey hardware and release next gen this year, which would be just a tiny bit more powerful than Series X, but same price as Series S. (Should be achievable now) and release digital only. And release new console every three-four years with less updates.

Doing that could actually save that sinking ship.

It would be really awesome for kids/casual players and the poor. (It will run Fortnite and Fifa.)
For AAA console experience there would be PS. And then of course Nintendo.

Maybe this would be a way how the market could be still split between these three entities while everybody would profit from it. Now, PS and MS are doing the same thing for three generations already and it's 2:1 for PS so far.

Re: Disgruntled PS5 Pro Owners Campaign to Disable Support After Slew of Shoddy Patches

"there’s little financial incentive"

Disagree.

– I bought F1 24 just because it has great PS5 Pro support, otherwise I would just wait for it to be on a service like I always did in the past (EA Play and PS Plus)
– Bought Horizon Remastered because of PS5 Pro support.
– Will buy Alan Wake 2 earlier than I would because of the PS5 pro support.

Would I pay 5-10 USD extra for remastered versions for PS5 Pro? Yes.

Give me Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro update with the same amount of settings as Spider-Man 2 has and I will pay for it.

Re: LEGO Horizon Adventures Sets Odd Precedent, Lacking PS5 Pro Support

mrmartinrohr

Really don't understand why everyone is downplaying this…

The game has two graphical modes: Fidelity runs 30fps and looks better. Performance runs 60 fps and looks worse. I would expect them to do Fidelity mode with PSSR that is locked at 60fps on non-VRR screens. For 120Hz VRR screens, framerate could be un-capped and aim for around 60-90 range like Spider-Man games are. Would be lovely to get this for more games.

This game could be considered a Playstation Studio title and please tell me who else should be making the best use of PS5 Pro than them…

Re: Like It or Not, This Is Why PS5 Pro Doesn't Have a Disc Drive

mrmartinrohr

Sony has the data of how people play (all games you played and when) and certainly have data if you play digital or from disc and that gives them the full picture. And if you count in all the PS Plus games played, it will be something like 95% games digital. And that’s why they will try to bury discs with PS6.

Not only sales-based decision, but also usage-based.

Re: Like It or Not, This Is Why PS5 Pro Doesn't Have a Disc Drive

mrmartinrohr

Is this measured in units or money?

I only buy cheap/small games digitally, so I would say i technically buy more games on digital, but I spend more on the Physical games.

Also, i would love to know how if any subscription is affecting this (like PS Plus Essential, where you technically buy the game as you get a receipt and everything)

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

mrmartinrohr

All this means is that all titles that have a hard time reaching stable framerates, utilize VRR or had a really optimistically set up dynamic resolution, will run more stable, will have higher framerates and will run in higher resolution respectively. For PS4 games, this was already mostly solved by base PS5, so i don't understand why they're promoting PS5 Pro like this, when theres basically nothing to enhance anymore…

(Locked 60 fps can't be any smoother than 60 fps, 150fps instead of 120fps in VRR is useless and 2.8K cap on dynamic resolution means the game can't even get to a native 4K by the design, so more computing power won't help here… Also, PS4 games supported VRR? I don't think so – That came with PS5 era, no?)

Re: PS5 Pro Flexes Its Muscle in Montage Trailer

mrmartinrohr

@Medic_alert Exactly THIS!

But when people talk about PS and choose to play on it, it was always the type of games and the fact you’re sitting on a couch in front of a tv with controller in your hands that is extremely user friendly.

I don’t want to use keyboard and mouse, sit at a table and most importantly I DONT WANT TO TOUCH WINDOWS ever again in my life. I don’t want to fiddle with graphics settings that somehow match my machines power.

I see these two worlds really divided so I really don’t get all the “you could get a better PC for this price”. I wouldn’t buy a more powerful PC even if it was half the money.

Re: All PS5 Pro Compatible Games

mrmartinrohr

In the IGN video they talk about that around 50 games will be supported on launch and that GT7 will have 60fps4K ray-tracing mode and an 60fps8K mode.

So, maybe people with 120hz vrr and 8K TVs will find the PS5 Pro more interesting 🤔

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

mrmartinrohr

"Other enhancements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games."

Now I'm interested! But the whole paragraph is a perfect definition of word VAGUE

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

mrmartinrohr

If this would magically turn every game from 30 fps to 60 by machine learning frame addition, or there were a lot of games supporting it in this way, then nice, but this is such a negligible improvement… Performance mode is now a bit more fancy – that's all.

PS4 was a FullHD console and PS4 Pro made it somehow 4K (od 2.5K) for at least some games. Sadly, this is not such improvement

Re: Alan Wake 2 Yet to Recoup Dev, Marketing Expenses as Tencent Raises Stake

mrmartinrohr

I'll buy it on a disk and then most likely sell it to someone who, same as me, did not want to pay the full price for a digital license. This way they'll at least have money from me and two (or more) people will enjoy the game.

Or, I'll play it on PS+ in a few years and they won't see my money.
Or, I'll buy it digital in a few years when it drops to a 10-20 USD mark.

I'm not rich – I'll wait. And there are millions of gamers doing exactly the same as me. Yes, they don't get full price from all of us, but isn't it better getting one full price physical sell in the release window, then getting 2-3 discounted sells digitally down the line?

Re: Very Questionable Face Renders Are on the EA Sports FC Ultimate Edition Cover

mrmartinrohr

They are trying so hard to turn the fact that they don't have the FIFA license anymore into a positive thing. "Forget FIFA, forget leagues… Forget brands. You can wear any color you want. Your club is who you are. Your club is your family. This is FC. The best FIFA to date that is not actual FIFA."

TBH the gameplay will be exactly the same so it probably does not matter. But I know one thing. If NHL would go this route and they would name it HC, I would have zero interest…
