Re: PS4 Games Could Get a Significant Performance Boost on PS5, Suggests Sony Backwards Compatibility Patent

mrmartinrohr

With all the buzz around the PS5 backward compatibility and the current state of the PS Plus, there is a big chance that there will be zero PS5 games added to PS plus in its first year or so… They will just feed us bigger – but old – PS4 titles and praise that it will all run faster and better than before. Seems more than possible when you really think about it -.-

Re: Rumour: The Last of Us: Part 2 2019 Release Date Speculation Intensifies

mrmartinrohr

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune – November 2007 (25+ months in development)
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – October 2009 (24+ months in development)
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception – November 2011 (25+ months in development)
The Last of Us – June 2013 (18+ months in development)
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End – May 2016 (35+ months in development)
The Last of Us Part II – August 2019 (would be 39+ months in development)

The Uncharted 4 development was probably longer due to all the upgrading of their engine and workflow for PS4 and partly because of the making of Last of Us: Left Behind DLC. For The Last of Us Part II, they are most likely using only slightly enhanced engine and tools from Uncharted 4. Yes, there was the Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but that was efficiently made expansion built with mostly what they already got for the Uncharted 4. The Last of Us Part II looks most ambitious of them all (logically), but for me, there is no way it's releasing in 2020. The first reveal was in late 2016. And in last years June, Naughty Dog has hinted that we won’t get a release date for The Last of Us: Part II until it’s “very close to release”. And we already saw a gameplay video last year. If you consider all this, the August–October 2019 release date is almost certain. Don‘t you think?

Re: Lack of Subtitles in Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Is a Result of 'No Industry Standard'

mrmartinrohr

English is my second language and I play all games with English subtitles turned on because it's often hard to understand every spoken word especially without headphones on. Games for a younger audience such as this one have simpler English, but it's still really unique not to have subs even in only one language. And their response? What a joke. The industry standard is definitely to have subtitles in more than one language and there hasn't been a game without them that I encountered in my whole life…

Do you recollect any?

Re: Fallout 76 - A Shockingly Bad Attempt at Multiplayer Survival

mrmartinrohr

I’m kinda glad the game is getting these scores everywhere. Was worried that it will have a pass since its Fallout, but the game is actually such a mess that even the longtime fans of the series acknowledge how bad it is. Can say for sure I won't be playing this like… ever Thanks for the objective review.

Re: Analyst: Gamers Are Overreacting Over Star Wars, Publishers Should Increase Prices

mrmartinrohr

I have spent 1700 czk on new Wolfenstein and played it for 17 hours exactly. That leaves me at 100 czk per hour. Movie ticket in Czech republic is 180 czk, so basically the game is by this logic more expensive than two hour movie in cinema which you don't have to have a console and TV for…

Anyway, how costly are games in your country? Average wage of a young person in his mid 20s in Czech republic can get you about 12–17 full priced games. If you remove the cost of living and other expances, then you are at 6 games per month at most wich is really not a lot if you consider that you would only spend money on games, a place to live and food…

And yes, game prices went up… But so are the sales and game making expenses.
