@Max2574 So there is a difference between SIE and SME (Sony Music Entertainment). Of course, Sony Corp is the big company and houses them, but they operate somewhat independently of eachother. SME*, not SIE, is the one buying Crunchyroll. SIE is the one that operates PlayStation.
SIE had its own resources to spend and its own budget because it and SME are difference companies entirely and don’t share capital. Exchanging money between them all is not as simple as just here’s 100 dollars. Yes Sony Corp could do it but acting as if the entire larger company’s market cap is at SIE’s disposal doesn’t work.
*Technically Funimation which is owned by Aniplex which is owned by SME...
@nessisonett Actually, not really that weird, the Hawkeye series is set to debut this year on Disney+. Whether in be CD or Disney someone wants to pull the fans over.
@UltimateOtaku91 that’s not it at all. First the Gold subs are comparatively dwarfed by the GPU subs, they could no way make up the money. Also, they could have increased the cost of GPU by the same dollar they added to Gold, and less moaning would have happened. Sure people would have been upset but this reaction? Considering the fact they are going to make F2P MP free suggests this part in the works.
Clearly, they just want to get rid of gold altogether and only have GPU. This was just the wrong way to go about that.
@AdamNovice hmm Again money which is seemingly being if ignored here in your counter arguments.
TES 6 is barely in pre production (if that) so again MS’s money will be funding that game, not Bethesda’s. I should hope I have say in where my money goes.
Starfield, honestly, depends on how far along that game actually is. But again we don’t know. I guess I can kind of see an outrage issue if the game launches early next year with no PS support in the horizon. Although in all cases where that has occurred MS had let the game finish out it’s commitments Outer Worlds? Wasteland 3? Death loop?
If it’s a late 2021/2022 game then yes MS funded a significant portion of the project. It’s all a matter of money, and whose paying the bills. Doesn’t matter what was said when it got announced. It’s not a media issue literally it’s who funded the game project.
@AdamNovice sighs the difference is whose footing the bill for the game. Timed exclusives are still games whose bill is paid by a third party, and the timed part generally accounts for the lost in sales but not the production cost. Unless it’s a case of SFV and that said exclusive. Bethesda games are now going to be paid for with MS’s money ergo they should be able to decide what happens to that money, but keep in mind that’s up in the air on what will and won’t happen.
@Ah-Void why is that the assumption anytime you want something “uncensored”?
TMS has a girl fully clothed in a cute wedding dress, but they painted her skin white to make sure absolutely no skin was showing. Sorry, nothing to do with trying to get my lollies off thank you. o.O
@GMoney2432 @Matroska yup, that’s true the impulse triggers are normal rumble motors, but they could be set to function independently of each other. The effect could in theory give you a sort of directional rumble which could be used to say define where a shot came from or something to the effect. It’s not on the same sensitivity level of HD Rumble/Advance Haptic Feedback. And, as far as I know there isn’t a lot of good implementation of them, so I think causes confusion as to what they are and what they do.
I don’t see that happening with the DualSense given how warmly received its been received.
@Angeljuice I don’t know why you CC’d on the SSD speed..
Actually, the cost of a Vacuum could run you that high. It really depends on how often you need to vacuum, how big your house is, and how many people with long hair as well as belts which also have a cost and require replacement. A Dyson which generally had no bags can cost your more in the beginning but less in the long run. Where as Hoover might require replacing a lot more. Of course models make a difference as well. Vacuum cleaners may need to be changed if the person has more kids etc no their are actually more factors to think about.
I take you don’t do house work often?
My point was nothing gets as personal as a video game console, nothing.
@Angeljuice Umm but that’s not really the case. I mean you don’t see people taking sides over Hoover vs Dyson? Even though that’s just as much money if not more in some cases. People do get a little emotional, but not like video game consoles.
@Floki thank you I had a vague notion it might be something like that but only because dude @NEStalgia =p you don’t like to make things easy in a discussion that’s for sure. sighs
To be fair Sony isn’t “promoting” VRR they are adding it in as a “compliment” for people that do want it. The fact that it’s a hidden in a blog post update is my proof.
MS is promoting it but MS also had Freesync and 1440p support which a gaming monitor with those features is something many owners will have. And won’t break the bank.
@Leon_93 you really can’t use the “marketing rights” to Capcom and Final Fantasy “exclusivity” as evidence to your point. Most of the Capcom that they market have big Global appeal. And FF has always been the one JRPG that is more known and loved in the west than the others. Even Persona has a more global appeal than SMT. The only reason a good chunk of Japanese games were exclusive to PS was due to a lack of choice on the devs part. And if we’re comparing, MS has the marketing to a lot of Bandai-Namco’s games. Marketing rights to a Japanese developed game doesn’t necessarily mean what you imply it does.
And also if your rumor is true someone should mention that to Init Creates as Gun Gal Returns is skipping the PS.
Look the reality is Sony is going to care about software sales in Japan whether it be on mobile or PS5. But I also think they are realistic and competing against Nintendo if they continue to explore cloud options might prove difficult on a pure hardware front.
@GKO900 it’s not a problem until it is. There are a variety of issues having competition generally prevents like rate increases, product quality, or censorship. Two years from now when there is no choice and it’s twice the price and horrible output; you’ll understand.
Netflix runs subtitles like captions, so the speed they are on the screen isn’t enough. The other issue is when another character speaks; it’s in the same text line. Where as usually subs are overlayed and the timing and positioning is constructed on such a way that they are more readable. Although the DQ movie was better.
@AJDarkstar I prefer handhelds so I understand. I do think some big companies have made pretty big strides in the PC world as of late, and I also think “influencers” have pushed it as well. Everyone wants to be the next Ninja. I’m generalizing, of course, but a friends kid push his dad to purchase a gaming computer for him so he can stream Fortnite. He’s 12. Definitely a different world than I grew up in for sure.
But yeah a lot release still skip PC even if there is no reason to, so who knows.
@AJDarkstar I honestly believe PC will. Most of MS games hit Steam with big numbers. And I think PC numbers are only growing. Especially with good cards actually being reasonable in price. Plus a lot of Bethesda games play better on PC because of how they are set up. Anyway, I think MS’s combination of their diversified install base is a good strategy. And to be fair lots of PS players have PCs, so I don’t think they are losing the entire PS install base as people make it seem.
@Col_McCafferty No offense but you come off as extremely rude. As a point MS hasn’t “catered” solely to that “Bro audience” in quite some time. This year alone they’ve pushed heavy on games like Ori 2, Tell Me Why, and MS Flight Sim. ID@Xbox their indie division has been bringing amazing games like CrossCode and Spirit Farer to Gamepass day one. You can hate a company all you want but your first comments were directed Xbox players and considering you’ve never met me; that was rude.
@AJDarkstar I think “I don’t know yet” has the potential to upset just as many people if not more. It’s a rather delicate situation right now as they don’t technically own Bethesda just yet.
Not to mention with the head of Microsoft chiming in now about these things, not just Phil, it’s entirely possible it’s out of Phil’s hands to some degree.
I don’t think a lot of Japanese gamers are going to “complain” about this. Whether or not they hate the change. I’m just not sure why they did it. It seems silly to make this change now.
And no Nintendo does not need to follow suit; it’s already uniformed.
@Xiovanni It’s always been “Cross” to me. But I was that weird kid that read manuals..
@Tharsman would that be why some of the “upgraded” PS4 games aren’t sharing saves? Because on PS5, once upgraded it’s the PS5 version (in some cases), but Xbox it’s the “upgraded” XB1 version ?
@Tharsman what I find interesting is that the two of us had a conversation about smart delivery on Pure Xbox many months ago. You were wondering if MS was going to sync data between two separate SKUs or have devs use a single SKU. Guess you got your answer in a round about way...
@Olliemar28 MS has published games on Nintendo Switch. And I think, when it makes sense, will continue to do this. It sets a precedence, so it wouldn’t be completely unheard of.
@NEStalgia the thing is the “2D version” mitigates the graphical issues on any hardware, and coupled with the better soundtrack, you can enjoy this game and not be bothered the “details”. However, I haven’t played the PS4 version, but have played the Switch version. So I don’t know if I count
@Shepherd_Tallon I could see your point, and it’s a fair concern. But MS also goes to great lengths to preserve “back catalogues” as well. Granted their OG support could be better.
@Tharsman ahh sorry about that. Misread your comment completely.
Actually, I meant more as “adding a tax” to video games. I’ve seen that tossed around a few times in a few states. I don’t think anything passed yet, but they are trying.
@Octane yeah but taxes are a lot more complicated than @Tharsman @GeneJacket are making it out to be. I mean most US consumers really don’t pay that much attention. Most think it’s just “state sales tax”. However, some places have more than just state sales tax, taxes can be city, state, and county. For instance, Grand Junction, CO and Palisade, Co have two different tax rates. Also taxes vary by product type. Food for home use usually has less of a tax rate than other items, etc. But yes, you can do your shopping at a state with no sales tax.
@JohnKarnes sure and that’s perfectly fine. I respect people’s opinions I wanted to make sure you had your facts correct Also, these days MS puts all their stuff on PC, so don’t feel like you have to “jump ship” either.
1) Yeah, you do not have to purchase brand new MS games and they stay on the service forever. And I don’t usually have to buy the DLC for first party games either but that’s going to vary by game. I admit that.
2) your post was 600-180=479 but it’s actually 600-360=240 that’s why I said your math was wrong
3) Since Last September 11 new games have been released by MS studios or an MS game like Ori. Whilst many of them are Multiplatform, and I’m not saying “go go MS”, I am saying all of them came to Game Pass Or Game Pass for PC day one-
Gears 5
Ori 2,
Gears Tactics
MS Flight Sim
Battletoads
Tell Me Why
Wasteland 3
Minecraft Dungeons
