Re: Feature: Which Studios Could Sony Realistically Acquire?

madcow78

I want go against the flow: First Contact and / or Survios. Next generations battle will be on the VR field thereby Sony should acquire VR specialised developer.

IMHO, Sony did buy Insominiac not because of the Spider-Man success but because they have been developing games for the Oculus and indeed, I think the next Insominiac game to be available on a PS platform will be a VR one, only after that, Spider-Man 2

Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for Gamescom 2019?

madcow78

I'm hyped for E3 as much as am hyped for Days of Play as both bring a week or so of deals to buy cheaper games and hardware. Unfortunately, Gamescom doesn't bring such kind of deals.

Given that, I hope to get more info about The Last of Us 2 + Iron Man and Sniper Elite for PSVR.

Re: PS Plus August 2019 PS4 Games Announced

madcow78

Oh no! I dodged the PES 2019 bullet as already own it, but now don't think will be able to dodge Wipeout that got with PSVR Mega pack... however, I'm not into driving games but love Wipeout with PSVR.

Well, on the sunny side I'm happy to try Sniper elite as am interested in the forthcoming VR version and as Italian antifascist am really happy to get rid of many fascists. I hope there is a kill cam for nuts shots, as am going to aim to nuts only!

Re: Hands On: Concrete Genie's Colourful PSVR Experience Could Cure Sadness

madcow78

So it’s halfway in between of full VR mode and VR photo mode.

BTW I think a VR photo mode could be a killer app for PSVR. Just allow walking into VR worlds of HZD or GOW to give a great experience. Not real interaction just walking among the robots of HZD will make my day. By photo mode I do not mean a static mode but a non interactive one.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Won't Take Away from Sony to Achieve Success

madcow78

@BAMozzy mate, I wrote in laymen terms how back compatibility works. In the short passage of the old testament you wrote I couldn't find anything different from what I said. If I'm wrong, please, quote what I wrote and tell me why is not correct.

However, my point was to tell Xbox One isn't back compatible as it comes at cost of MS budget for marketing and games as it runs thanks to an emulator. MS did divert budget to allow running some games. Point. Do you think that's not the case?

That's it, I am against the idea that is simple switch to trigger that doesn't cost a penny to the manufacturer. Emulation doesn't equate to back compatibility and it require a renew of licencing. Even first party games could be affected by licencing issues as you don't know if a part of the development - e.g. translation - has been done by external agency with a contract that mention one system only.

@Stocksy I do not think MS had / has any real project behind the back compatibility program rather than "it costs less than developing new games like SO that our base won't buy as they aren't Halo, Gear or Forza"

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Won't Take Away from Sony to Achieve Success

madcow78

@Stocksy I'm afraid you misunderstood how back compatibility works.

You put a legacy disc and your console plays it. This cost zero to the company and to the user.

Xbox one back compatibility is you put a legacy disc and the device downloads the compatible version that runs in an emulator. This comes with two costs for the company: one is to 'compile' the game download and test it and one is to pay licences as the old games can be played for "free" by legacy systems but you need to shell out a fee to play with an emulator. De facto, what MS did is to move / divert game budget to buy licences of legacy games. In simple words, with the overall cost of the licences of the old games MS would have covered a new game at least.

I personally prefer Sony's approach: give me HZD, GOW, Spider-man or DS instead of a bunch of old games.

Re: Sairento - A Fun, Kinetic Ninja Action Game for PSVR

madcow78

@lloydcoombes I’ve got PSVR since last Days of play deal.
I managed to through motion sickness with ginger root tables and the aforementioned games. Till this weekend I’ve been playing only VR, but Skyrim did really hit me. Maybe I won’t touch it again even because it looks ugly. A ‘maybe’ wolf attacked me but it looked like a stain of dark colour.
It may sound strange but I really love Blood & Truth. I love that kind of movement as it’s not teleporting it’s moving from point a to b like walking and with the help of left and right movements by pressing buttons the action is fine and sleek. However I didn’t like the automatic crouch.

Re: Sairento - A Fun, Kinetic Ninja Action Game for PSVR

madcow78

What about motion sickness?
By just watching some game-play / review on YouTube, I didn't feel very well.
So far, I found Skyrim quite problematic, but guess it's because of the awfully poor performances on a PS4 slim -, as instead Blood and Truth, Astro Bots, Wipeout, PS worlds, UD Blood of Rush have been smooth experiences.

Re: PS Plus July 2019 PS4 Games Changed After Fan Backlash

madcow78

I was happy to ask to my FIFA friends to try PES in order to grasp what gameplay and real physics mean - seriously am I only one who sees FIFA players run oddly like marionettes or the ball moves like a hockey puck?
On the other hand, now, as I own PES 2019, am happy to get Detroit.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Introduce a Game Pass Subscription of Its Own?

madcow78

a) what you pay is what you'll get, therefore the overall quality of the 1st party games of MS is sub-par to PS and Nintendo;
b) sooner or later, MS is going to leave the hardware business behind; please, note all the trailers end with MS logo and a Game Pass tag line and in addition, they design more and more controllers as these can be sold as PC accessories
c) MS isn't investing in single player games - see for example Bleeding Edges - as they do not force you to play online and thereby make you pay for another subscription or a bigger fee; single player games such as Ori are small and not expensive to produce
d) such kind of service would make sense only for VR games as they are less expensive and in order to push the hardware sales and build up the user base would make sense - from a marketing point of view
e) in everything MS does there is a caveat; as stated the quality of their 1st party games is inferior and even the "infamous" Backward compatibility of Xbox one wasn't a real one but a sort of re-coding of the old games which required to allocate a budget. Indeed, as they are going to focus on the next gen no more games will be available via backward compatibility

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Reveal Trailer Gets Over 25 Million Views in 3 Days

madcow78

@CloudNine same 4 me. As , the first time I didn't know what is was about a couple of times I couldn't skip it and lastly another couple of time I had youtube as "background noise" while cooking thus couldn't be bothered to wash and dry my hands to skip it.

Only time will tell if these views are paid ones and they are just pulling an "Apex Legends". And anyway, I think that if they do not embrace VR COD - and probably the whole genre - will dry during next generation.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Reveal Trailer Gets Over 25 Million Views in 3 Days

madcow78

Given that I don't know if you use one of your video as ADS on Youtube, it will increase the raw number of views, I wonder if this record is just because they are spending billions in youtube ads using the trailer as video ads?
if you watch a pretty length video on video-games -e.g. a long review or a breakdown of pure speculation and bs on DS - you may be asked to watch it twice or even 3 times.

Re: New Yakuza Game In Development on PS4, Stars a Fresh Main Character

madcow78

Thanks to PS+ I enjoyed Yakuza Kiwami and thereby soon after got Zero as well. Now I'm waiting to grab a deal for Kiwami 2 and for the PS4 version of the rest of the chapters (3-5).

Anyhow, before this new series of Yakuze Sega MUST publish a Kiryu-chan (read it like Majima) collection (from 0 to 6). But as they are all based in the same city, they should make like one whole game.

Re: Guide: How to Use a PS4 Controller with Remote Play on iOS

madcow78

I believe this works only if you are in the "house" where your PS4 is. Anyway, in every house there are spots in which the connection between the PS4 and iPad will drop (e.g. your garden 20/30m away from your PS4).

Can you put down a guide to buy the best cheap ios compatible gamepads? I personally don't want to spend £30 or £40 but up to £15 I'do it.

Re: Microsoft Plans to Bring Xbox Live Support to All Other Platforms Except PlayStation

madcow78

@JJ2 to do cross-play with xbox but do you need to pay the fee to play online minecraft without cross-play?
here https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/games/game-titles/minecraft-switch-edition-faq#a00b283e2b5444a3bfeecac7a7fe62b9 I see the FAQ reads: "A Microsoft account is optional and not required to play Minecraft on Nintendo Switch." hence as I wrote, XBL won't be a paid service on other platforms.

For this reason, please wake me up when Valve offers to support Stream features on Epic. Please do it and together we will celebrate the Upside Down World!

Re: Microsoft Plans to Bring Xbox Live Support to All Other Platforms Except PlayStation

madcow78

Maybe I am really, really stupid, but don't grasp what MS wants to do. I don't think this means a Ninentdo player can play online games using Xbox Live as this would mean no money for the platform owner, hence MS wants to offer "features" such as live chat and friends list.

For this reason I ask to everyone if you read this headline:
"Stream plans to support Epic launcher with its best features" what would you think?

Re: Poll: Is E3 Still Relevant, Especially Now that Sony Has Abandoned It?

madcow78

I think if they can set up a sort of direct (live) with some limited time demo games, they will achieve much more.

My point is they have to recreate the same E3 event /experience with demo and presentations but in your own living room.

In addition, if they are confident with PSNow I think they can even set up some demos via PSNow or give the choice to the uses: Download Demo / Stream Demo.

Re: Soapbox: PSVR Has Quietly Had an Outstanding Year

madcow78

@Scoobijohn if you allow me to crack a joke: I do not care, as I am bold!

Anyhow, as pork pie hat lover I can promise you every shop allows you to try a hat so headlice issue isn't so prominent mainly when, PSVR does not cover your head and there is no cloth or fabric that can host any headlice.

For max safety, I guess a shower cap and a quick cleaning session are no brainier solutions.

Re: Soapbox: PSVR Has Quietly Had an Outstanding Year

madcow78

@get2sammyb on the other hand they (shops) can always allow you to book a demo session in store. At least every time they run campaign such as Black Friday.

For example, here in the UK Game can send and email to inform their clients they can book a demo session and in case he or she buy a PSVR at the end of it, he or she will get a "special" discount or a PSVR game.

I think if they partner with Sony, Sony will send the demo unit and someone to manage it.

Re: Soapbox: PSVR Has Quietly Had an Outstanding Year

madcow78

what I really don't grasp is why they do not let people to test the PSVR in high street shops. I mean like they used to have PS4 and Xbox 1.

I'm curious about PSVR but I want to see if the VR experience makes me sick, how it works with glasses and if it's good for someone like me that spends at max a couple of hours a day with games, buys not many games a year and takes ages to beat each of them.

Re: Poll: Do We Still Need Review Scores?

madcow78

No score means like EG that the best games win a "recommended" reward... so also PushSquare can do like EG did: to RECOMMEND Sea of Thieves but not Horizon Zero Dawn.

Since I spot SoT "Recommended" I avoided EG.

With this quick rant I mean no score will flat every review in two or three categories and at the end of the day or all are goods or you end like EG to recommend terrible games like SoT as the reviewer likes or a soft spot for developer / publisher.

Re: PS4 Is Way Ahead of Xbox One in Total Console Sales, Says New Data

madcow78

@PS_Nation

"Nobody wants a monopoly, but it's also really naive to want MS to succeed with all these practices.
Single-player games are obsolete?
GaaS is the future?
Exclusives are not important?

They can GTFO the console market, let another company be part of the big 3."

IMHO that's 101% correct and they already won with:
Paid online service;
PC architecture;
Bro 'empty' gaming;
DLC & micro-transactions;

Hopefully, nobody at MS understands basic business and marketing practices and strategies or they will approach the next gen with an under-cost device, around £100/$100/100€ less than PS5, as that is the ONLY way to market a multi-platform games only console. This won't make game consoles cheaper, this will mean companies will have to cut budget of other projects such as exclusives games.

Re: Deals: Save £10 on PS4 Console Bundles and Accessories Today

madcow78

@get2sammyb really sad, mostly the lack of headset charger as PS4 slim has 2 USB ports only. One is for the HD and thus there is one port left for charging devices and to use the headset dongle. The usb hub I got works fine when the PS4 is on but when it’s on standby it won’t work. I suppose it’s because it’s designed for laptop as well, therefore saving energy system in place.
