Gamescom 2019 begins next week, on the 20th August, and runs until the 24th August. Sometimes referred to as 'the E3 of Europe', Gamescom never quite creates the same buzz as its Los Angeles counterpart, but it's still played host to a lot of big announcements and surprises over the years. With 2019's event set to be a pretty significant showcase for just about every prominent publisher, we're actually expecting it to be an intriguing few days, especially with Geoff Keighley's opening night broadcast kicking things off on the 19th.

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.
There's probably a few interesting things here but I've taken a bit of a break from gaming news lately so honestly I'm not really feeling it/didn't realise it was so soon.
I'm hyped for E3 as much as am hyped for Days of Play as both bring a week or so of deals to buy cheaper games and hardware. Unfortunately, Gamescom doesn't bring such kind of deals.
Given that, I hope to get more info about The Last of Us 2 + Iron Man and Sniper Elite for PSVR.
I think shuhei yoshida just hyping ratchet & clank 2 and ape escape 4, there's 2 ratchet statue and 4 ape escape plushie. Maybe these 2 game will be announced at gamecom
@Playstation5 We just don't know — Sony's in a position now where it's incredibly difficult to predict.
Sony's at Gamescom, we're due a State of Play, we're waiting on more PS5 news, Death Stranding is just a few months away from release... Who knows where The Last of Us: Part II fits in at this point!
Can't say I'm overly fussed. Hopefully Sony will release a bit more TLOU2 info... beyond that, there's nothing I'm particularly looking forward to.
CP2077 is on my radar, but I'm not generally an RPG fan; I like the visual style, it seems like the story will be interesting, and I like CDPR's attitude and responses to the overly-PC games media in general, so I'm tempted to support them 'just because', but... we'll see. If I do bite, I might even pick it up on PC via GOG so that they get all the money.

I'm pretty excited. I forgot Cyberpunk gameplay was being made public, so that's cool. Death Stranding getting a new look is always fun. Not really sure what else I'm looking forward to seeing. I hope Capcom brings some stuff other than Icebourne.

Sounds like there are a few reveals on the way so I'm genuinely interested, if not bouncing-off-the-walls excited like I would be for E3. It's a cool show and usually a good time to get some in-depth info on already-announced stuff mixed with a few low key but interesting announcements.

I’m attending this year with a friend, we both live in Cologne so that’s a no brainer. Mainly looking forward to try Borderlands 3, MediEvil and Concrete Genie and just buy a bunch of game soundtracks on vinyl. Normally I’m not a huge fan of Gamescom since it’s overcrowded as hell and the queues can last anywhere from 3-6 hours depending on the game.
Hoping for some more info. on Elden Ring by From, but mostly looking forward to the Intellivision Amico trailer posting Monday and any further info. on their remakes of my old favorites.

Feel a bit sorry for gamescom a few years ago it was having conferences from Sony and Microsoft just doesn't seem to get any hype last few years

I think it's more exciting for games website journalists than most gamers. It gives them lots of content.
