@naruball it does suck for developers who are now unexpectedly out of a job, likely with rent/mortgage to pay in a flat close to the studio where they will now need to move or compete with everyone else in the area for any other industry jobs that might exist. Not nice having to go through that, or think about relocating, especially if you have a partner/family. Perhaps they are in the process of buying a home or have just booked a holiday.
If it were me I’d probably be thinking about doing something else for a year or two and hope the industry sorts itself out a bit.
@Korgon the surprise, really, was just that it happened so quickly. A lot of the signs pointed towards this being the outcome after 6, 12, 18 months, as is often the case. I guess they just knew they could not throw any more money at it, even if to just save some face.
On the plus side, I assume the developers got paid a salary, and hopefully got some sort of severance package now. It’s a shame the job isn’t ongoing, but I suppose it’s typical for many contracts to end once a game is completed.
I’m continuing a playthrough of Resi 6 with a friend, and actually having a lot of fun with it this time round. Really gone up in my estimations this has. Just finished Jake’s campaign, we are going to do Ada next.
@REALAIS @Titntin ah, sorry for the misinformation. That’s really good, then.
D3 just has a better rhythm and flow to the combat, and while the story is silly I found the d4 plot really dry and pretty complicated with all the names they throw at you. Plus d3 sends enemies ragdolling when you plough through them in ways 4 does not!
I was really excited for this back in the day, watched and read whatever I could about it, loved the first one, then it came out and I just.. didn’t buy it.
I know what the story is about, loosely. I will get it before the end of the year for sure. Looking forward to playing it finally. I love the genre and I am positive it’s top tier stuff.
Still chipping away at my second Pillars of Eternity 2 playthrough. Trying to complete all quests. Hit the level cap, done the DLC. Sort of wrapping up!
That's interesting. I thought I would like this but struggled to get into it, partly due to the long introduction being a flashback. For some reason that wound me up..!
It’s not too expensive, there is just little reason for most people to go for it over a regular PS5 (which in itself, you could argue there has not been many good reasons to get).
@ShogunRok The table should be larger (or extendable) - I want to see everyone’s, plus my own ranking when I inevitably get 3/10! Where is my £3 a month going??? WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY.
@colonelkilgore probably helps a lot going in with such low expectations, but it was not what was expected back at launch! I’d love to give it another go if they ever give me the means to on a modern PlayStation console, though.
I am playing the brilliant Alien: Isolation again. That encounter with the 4 humans an hour or so in is still a real hump to get over, but you quickly get a revolver, some schematics and the motion detector afterwards and things get a lot more manageable.
I do admire the dedication to this, or anything, really. But at the same time, if you have three days to drop on this without a moments notice, I start to get a bit judgey.
@PrettyPawsome I still don't buy it, personally. Who is completing surveys for Capcom? Not the general buying public, I'd say.
I'm not saying the games might not be cool, and certainly there is demand for them but if the Resident Evil remakes are the benchmark, I don't see Dino Crises being as successful for Capcom. That said, they are fast running out of things to remake!
In my opinion, a vocal minority want more Dino Crises and it would be a waste of money for Capcom to remake the last games. Although they are doing alright so perhaps have the money to be charitable!
It’s a cool idea in theory, but it’s a fair justification for not doing it. I’m not sure where you’d even start nailing the cultural satire as a complete outsider.
I blitzed through the original red faction this weekend, and thought about getting this but I never really got along with Timesplitters back in the day. Always felt like one of the only people who didn’t “get it”!
Red Faction 1, started yesterday evening and hopefully have it finished today. Its been fun to blast through, once I played around with the default controls a bit.
No PS5 Pro for me. When compared to past generations, this one has really been quite awful. Looking forward to the next Nintendo, and hoping Sony & Microsoft get themselves sorted out.
I'll probably get Silent Hill 2 unless they have TOTALLY botched it, which doesn't seem to be the case based on what we've seen so far. Dragon Age could be interesting and the Warhammer game sounds fun. Astrobot sounds good but I wasn't exactly blown away by the one that came with the PS5 so we'll see how much of an improvement it is.
Otherwise it's the new Zelda on Switch for me, I think, if the performance is a little better than Links Awakening.
I played this several years ago and got really bored after a while, but figured I’d try it again this week. Played a couple of hours and I haven’t a clue what’s going on, can’t even read the map properly. I’ll read through this guide!
Incidentally, I am playing the free to level 70 version, but because I already had an account which I paid for previously, I am locked out of this version even though I didn’t hit level 70 when I was a paying subscriber. Can’t even just make a new SE account, as it’s tied to my PSN. Had to make a new PSN account just for this and then a new SE account 🤷♂️
@nessisonett I have talked myself out of it reading these comments and I am going to get Sea of Stars instead, probably a better Final Fantasy game! Still, I will play 16 one day…
It’s been on my radar since launch but just have not got round to it. Might pick it up today or over the next couple of weeks. I’ve no idea if I will like it or not, based on everything I read. Can’t imagine telling 12 year old me that, but there you go!

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5) - The Best BioWare Game Since Mass Effect 3
Looks pretty good to be fair. Just had a look on Eurogamer and they seemed to love it. One to pick up!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 552
I have been fooling around on Tears of the Kingdom this morning, 250 hours in and just enjoying exploring everything and the scenery, really.
Some more of that, and some Resi 4 remake!
Re: In Europe, 78% of Silent Hill 2 Copies Were Purchased on PS5
I went a different direction and got Resi 4 Remake in the current sale, really happy with it so far.
Will grab Silent Hill soon, but when you can wait a year and get these games for £10-£20 it does make you stop and think…

Re: Mini Review: Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred (PS5) - Hard to Hate This Meaty Expansion
@Titntin don’t think d4 has couch co-op, does it? Unless it comes with this expansion.
Can’t really get on with d4 myself either, it’s okay for 20-30 hours but I put 100s into D3. It’s just more fun to play!

Re: Dragon Age Series Ditches Those Disgusting Spiders in The Veilguard
Spiders and skeletons are by far my two favourite enemies to kill in games. And spiders in real life are pretty cool. Bed bugs, now they suck.

You mean like how PS2 paved the way for PS3? And how I got out of bed this morning before I took a dump? Gotcha.

Re: Interview: Father of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi on Fantasian Neo Dimension, and His Return to PlayStation
I played a good chunk of it on iphone. It isn't exactly bad, but it all feels a bit "lite", in keeping with games like I Am Setsuna, etc.
Maybe it's a bit more compelling on a home console.
