@Blauwe_Chimay it's a 5-6 hour playthrough with zero replay value unless you consider this part of it. It had such a weird end which teased GTA like multiplayer but I never saw it.
It's no different than PlayStation doing it from PC, besides it is more risky. Why? Because they are relying on a Xbox console + Steam + PC combined to be enough sales.
Forza Horizon 5 sold like gangbusters on PS5 so did Sea of Thieves, so maybe Xbox will be allowed 'multiplayer focused' games on PS5 like PlayStation is still allowed to sell 'multiplayer focused' games on Steam/PC.
Only time will tell if any of this exclusivity will bite them in the ass when consoles are still price prohibitive and next gen will be price insane cause of AI.
@asdfghjklz we all know why they are doing it. "The most hysterical voices", haha. I've had digital games for 20 years and physical games for longer. You can just say you are gonna take the highest prices for digital games on console wall gardens.
The $1000+ consoles? I mean who will they be for? You? Enjoy you 1-2 exclusives at $80-$90, no refunds.
More garbage to make games more expensive for digital versions. Digital versions should be cheaper than physical for obvious reasons.
Maybe a pre-order of a game is the same cost as physical due to immediately playing the game vs physical but after 14 days it comes to its "standard price". I.e. $70 on Jan 1st but $60 on Jan 14th.
Well... Sony shouldn't have at minimum plan to stop PS5 discs DURING ITS LIFETIME. First any company has done this and not cancelled selling the console. I.e. Sega and the Dreamcast.
PS6 all digital? Sucks but who cares Sony's decision.
@CRASH64 I mean....no. PlayStation is a platform that should address issues with their own communication to not affect their partners. This is on them.
Physical games in small print from years past (i.e. Fantavison and C-Smash), very few digital games, and only very select upcoming PS5 games. Or let's say games at all besides on disc for Series X, on card for Switch 2, or good discount for Steam. Definitely has me second guessing say Resident Evil Veronica on PS5.
Spreading my purchases mostly away from PS more now than ever. When PlayStation cannot do the bare minimum while taking something away the clock is ticking on purchasing at all on PlayStation anymore. It's up to them if they want my money. They need to keep selling PS5 discs forever and/or overhaul the digital policies.
I'm unfazed by his support for the current US president also. What a tool.
No one gives a crap about GameStop besides investors. The only unfortunate problem with a GameStop closing is what would be of the workers. That's the only thing that matters now, especially if they don't care about physical media.
@LogicStrikesAgain right what I'm saying is they are splitting the hardcore market into two groups: physical (to the masses buying a few games a year) digital (to the only group Sony now cares about)
When doing this you will loose sales and quite a bit but they just seem to not think it will affect them enough.
@LogicStrikesAgain in some situations yeah but the reality is someone that buys tens of hundreds of physical discs is a hardcore gamer. On top of that they likely dip into digital sales here and there sometimes too.
Unless someone says the person that buys many only digital games at full price close to launch then some consider them also a hardcore gamer but they are a what you call a whale. Someone that just buys as few digital games at full price a year is a very average casual gamer.
That type of purchaser 1-2 digital games a year isn't gonna move the needle of sales for PS and neither would an all discs hardcore gamer that does get a PS6 then only buys 1-4 games a year since they are smarter with their money as well vs all digital whale.
Sony is looking for digital only whales that buy full price to move over to PS6. It wouldn't surprise me the first stock of PS6 is PlayStation Direct only and requires you to have bought 5 digital games in the last year.
@HonestHick exactly go to ggdeals and look around at every platform sales. The main platform without much or any code discount is PlayStation. Even Xbox has PlayAnywhere codes all the time for Xbox+PC copies of games.
They (Sony) manufactured this problem to cut off digital sales to ONLY what they control/approve with publishers. It's a gigantic scam and likely they will be seeing the disc deathbed announcement as easy incoming lawsuits and/or law changes in some countries.
@nomither6 This is the thing that some people's brains have a super hard time figuring that out. Also you can have a PS5 with discs you collected and get a PC too. If Sony does change policies things could change (sentiment they are listening) in some way for those that are digital only anyway. And I think that's the problem here Sony doing absolutely nothing is wrong they need to be stating something like: 'we looking to update our digital policies heading in the next generation of console'. They don't have to announce anything now but admit it needs to be and will be updated.
@Jocaju I disliked Ragnarok with the best of them, so much I put my disc on eBay the second I finished the game. Horrible dragging on and forcing me to play as Atreus. Just bad.
Laufey at least they are going for continued angle of 2018 (which was an incredible game). As well she actually looks fun to play. I'll keep any open mind and if same as Ragnarok I'll sell the disc asap. Probably one of the last few games I can ***** Sony.
@BIG3 personally the same. I'll likely keep PS5 for the unmissable game that never comes to PC and is like 60-75% off on PSN then I'll bite. Otherwise Switch 2 primarily and Gamefly-ing what I can for PS5/Series X until they are physically done. If Helix can do something good physical maybe but feels like Xbox is going back to pre Halo/Gears/Forza headcount so who knows how many games will even release moving forward.
@CheesyOatcake I understand where you are coming from here with trying to only effectively going after 'playable off media without download' games is highly desirable by myself too with having about 70 PS5 games but only about 25 of the same on Series X, though they do exist.
When PS5 is done with discs there could still be new full on disc Series X games so it (at least my mind) is worthy of the support/investment into the future. And what if the disc to digital next gen option is there for Xbox as rumor? The money wasn't wasted effectively as it will be at least an 'off ramping' from one gen to the next to digital only unlike what is happening within this debacle mid gen for PS5.
Wild to think Xbox may have actually done something right over PlayStation crazy as it sounds. And to me that is better than nothing for game preservation/resell.
@CheesyOatcake you know what I mean the life of the console and it's new games. It will live up to short of 7 years about 6 years and 10 and half months to Jan 1st 2028 for having multiple entry points for game purchase choice.
If I knew they were going to pull this mid generation I simply would have stuck with PS4 and only picked up a Series X.
This isn't like Sega and them releasing a Dreamcast and it cut off due to Sega stop selling the console. This is Sony's full ass showing for everyone to see while they smile at you and take your money.
@11001100110zero exactly. They made their own bed thinking 'o well we will just get this pesky little problem out of the way'. Well it affects the rest of the PS5s life now. Tainted console generation for Sony.
What is going to be hilarious is if Xbox keep printing some Series X discs past the Jan 2028 date. I'll just fully move to Series X even from a PS5 Pro of all things.
They need to revert PS5 game discs. PS6 is a different product and they can try to sell me whatever, doesn't mean I will buy it.
I bought into PS5 knowing it would have new game discs for years or even a decade from now. If Sony wants to stop first party games that's also whatever but all new games? Anti-consumer.
@Hyena_socks thinking about it I don't know how you sell GTA gameplay now. In my mind it isn't exciting even if the game is exciting. We know what it is in our head and it's not likely to be much different besides the world/environments. They would have to show the world in a very interesting way to sell it.
I firmly believe it will make it look worse and/or there will not be any gameplay at all shown ever besides what you see in reviews/streamers. It just feels like a huge risk of lost sales. What they have shown is exactly the right way to preview/show it which has given its appeal so far.
If PS6 is over $999 USD it just won't sell very well. Honestly even over $799 will be a hard sell for many. But it the reality is the reality with parts costs.
I'm glad to hear they just didn't let this issue fall by the wayside. Series X had a much better version of this game for over a year. Might look into get a PS5 disc for this upgrade.
I mean it is bad it wasn't just wording...there was a graphic design screenshot.
People can believe whatever they want but until you show me it plays better on my PS5 Pro vs my Series X with PSSR or a higher framerate it's all marketing garbage. I'm embarrassed for Sony.
@Frmknst as far as output? Besides Insomniac and Housemarque creatively yes, but San Diego Studio are important for income and mass appeal sales. What most of us have seen PlayStation (for the PS5 era) so far is not much more than what Valve is for Steam.
They are a storefront to collect profits from 3rd parties and since publicly traded they sail off into the yearly growth sunset and please investors in forecast meetings as promising.
The more the focus is to be the Valve of storefronts of consoles like GamePass was the Netflix of gaming for Microsoft the worse it will become for what we are looking for as consumers of creative 1st party games from these platform holders. They are trying be risk adverse, not risky in ideas for new games.
All of them are showing huge signs of weakness and cowardice towards actual new creative output.
@Balaam_ always and everyday seems to getting worse and worse for video games. As long as physical (playable games off disc) and digital are in the offered for the current generation console PlayStation is going to stay the overall better place for most people.
Nintendo has great options with games on card (when it happens) and PC is the best for games prices but they both have their own major struggles now more than ever.
Also generally PlayStation kept their hardware reductive to price increases for longer vs all other options in times of economic issues and war times. If they can keep the hardware cost for barrier of entry the cheaper on the higher end of power in the market they will do fine.
Like many people said here they need to not let anymore 1st party go and hopefully growth of more studios/devs, make it profitable, and appealing as possible for consumers. Right now that's probably their biggest crux at PlayStation.
@Impossibilium correct, PS6 will be full fat power. But a portable with local upscaling as an alternative for streaming like Portal. They will have to find ways to drive down costs. Upscaling is the way. I'm hoping we get some 40fps modes for the handheld.
Someone is gonna figure out it, yet no one will want the solution. You get rid of local hardware you get rid of choice. That will be the end of video games for like 99% of gamers that still want it. Physical or digital it's whatever but we all agree you add latency you loose customers en mass. Patcher just needs to 'retire'.
Sony PlayStation digital stores are NOTORIOUS for generally having bad prices vs all other video game digital stores unless it's 2+ year old games. This is very true since PS3 store opened at least on consoles.
I don't trust PlayStation with digital pricing already, now dynamic pricing? I'm already seeing my PS+ value dwindle every day. It's easier to wait for Amazon. woot, Gamefly disc sales 6-9 months after release. Killer deals on games this year. Sony ain't gonna do ***** for digital sales. Sorry but it's just true.
@Boxmonkey A long way off? Rockstar games are always at the end of a generation too. PS6 and the next Xbox are likely about ready or ready for hardware production. One or both will be out before fall 2028.
@Dubplant Yep feels like Fallout 5 won't be out until a PS7 at this rate. I still don't understand why Obsidian can't make it with Bethesda help. We wouldn't have to wait another decade.
Japan Studio and now Bluepoint. All they have left I believe that makes critical games are Insomniac and Housemarque. Bungie the only one that can possibly make quality multiplayer.
Not sure wth Sony is really doing anymore to be honest besides fun for casuals safe games ("I like money" games). But some real hard passes from the most creative studios with a strong mix of continued attempts at vomiting gaas multiplayer.
Played Spider-Man 2 when it came out and it was decent/good. So it being in PS+ erases a chance of another high profile game in its place. Great for those whom haven't played it. So a total nothing burger for me this month.
Haven't tried yet due to no PC release or PS5 disc. I sleep until that happens, but Jaffe is known to be a bit over the top for things that don't need to be. His opinion is valid so are other people. Feels like the whole DmC vs DMC1-5 games, cry babys are gonna cry no matter what it is or how good/bad it is just because the IP is plastered onto it.
SoT is a pretty beloved game but everything shown especially the character models looked off. Like a cheap AA PS4 game. I wish it did look good, didn't have issues, and was coming out. It just seems KoTR remakes and PP:SoT remake had too much in common and changed hands too much to get it out the door with quality. Which is unfortunate.
This review is one of the best I've seen from this website. Pure gold also: 'Another thing Code Violet has going for it is brevity. It's roughly six hours long. And we actually got pretty lost at the beginning so it might be shorter for non-morons.'
It just sounds like it has ***** level design. Pure aesthetics, nothing functional just like the character. No wonder they delayed the game to re-design her. The whole game feels like an inside joke for 9-10 year old horny boys.
What I want from Fallout 5 is current Obsidian do Fallout 5 in the vein of New Vegas with Tim Cain. I honestly don't want Howard or Bethesda involved much as they should be finishing up ES6 anyway in the next half decade. Waiting until like 2035 to release Fallout 5 would be a mistake Microsoft shouldn't allow to happen. Not saying it needs forced out the door but it feels right to let Obsidian be primary creators of Fallout 5. Bethesda do Fallout 6 before 2040? Sure after they finish Elder Scrolls 6.
They have done this a few times with leaks and mostly the leaks turn out to be mostly accurate over time. They can say whatever but their actions are what matter.
@PuppetMaster I wish it would happen but the reality is how does that financially benefit them and not make the console overly complex? It is basically slim to none at this point. I believe they will need to add another 2-3 lasers for those discs in the drive. As well even if they did the drive itself will become more expensive.
Played about 7 hours and it feels samey but slightly better than Tsushima. The weapons are better but the parrying and group fights still only feel okay/good sometimes. The sword drop throw insta-kills are funny/nice to get the fights over with. I still feel like the combat needs a big overhaul but it's okay enough to play in 1v1 and 1v2 battles. I'd give probably a 7.5, maybe 8.5 if the combat and skill tree gets better over the next 10-20 hours but I doubt it. It's a perfectly fine/good 1st party game that is worth your time but not ground breaking. Absolutely glad I rented this game, definitely will be play to finish then never ever touch again types of games just like Tsushima.
I'll play 3-5 hours of the PS5 version from Gamefly then the disc is going back in the mail.
I just want to see if the gameplay truly changed. The performance sounds absolutely dreadful so we will see if I make it past hour 1 or 2 even before ejecting the disc.
Silent Hill f is within 10 days anyways and is priority 1 of 2025 then just a week after that Yōtei also.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for February 2026?
Played Spider-Man 2 when it came out and it was decent/good. So it being in PS+ erases a chance of another high profile game in its place. Great for those whom haven't played it. So a total nothing burger for me this month.
Re: 'One of the Worst Decisions Ever Made': God of War Creator Tears 'Total Crap' 2D Title Apart
Re: Prince of Persia Series Isn't Dead Yet Despite Remake Cancellation
SoT is a pretty beloved game but everything shown especially the character models looked off. Like a cheap AA PS4 game. I wish it did look good, didn't have issues, and was coming out. It just seems KoTR remakes and PP:SoT remake had too much in common and changed hands too much to get it out the door with quality. Which is unfortunate.
Re: Code Violet (PS5) - Gooner Shooter Can't Get It Up
This review is one of the best I've seen from this website.
Re: PS5's Hyperpop Collection Adds Three Striking New Colours for DualSense, Console Covers
Nothing for my Pro, but at least there is a good green this time. I'll probably pick it up to match the neon green Xbox color.
Re: Rumour: Fallout 3, New Vegas Remakes Reportedly Happening as Fallout 5 Is 'Greenlit'
Re: 'These Claims Are Not Accurate': Activision Denies Complete Call of Duty Rethink After Sluggish Black Ops 7 Sales
They have done this a few times with leaks and mostly the leaks turn out to be mostly accurate over time. They can say whatever but their actions are what matter.
Re: 'What If I, Y'Know, Design the Next Console?': How Mark Cerny Pitched Himself as PS4's Architect
@mattitudemf I will be buying a PS6 disc drive then before I get a PS6 otherwise the console will have little use to me outside of PS+ monthly games.
Re: 'What If I, Y'Know, Design the Next Console?': How Mark Cerny Pitched Himself as PS4's Architect
@PuppetMaster I wish it would happen but the reality is how does that financially benefit them and not make the console overly complex? It is basically slim to none at this point. I believe they will need to add another 2-3 lasers for those discs in the drive. As well even if they did the drive itself will become more expensive.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Yotei?
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Battlefield 6?
Whenever Best Buy drops off my PS5 copy sometime today. But seems to not matter as multiplayer is gonna be a queue-fest.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for September 2025?
I submitted okay as what was leaked was there and it was almost blatantly propped up the whole show from SAROS and Wolverine.
Yes a few other games looks okay or pretty good too but either was too early or has a terrible release date.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Borderlands 4?
I'll play 3-5 hours of the PS5 version from Gamefly then the disc is going back in the mail.
I just want to see if the gameplay truly changed. The performance sounds absolutely dreadful so we will see if I make it past hour 1 or 2 even before ejecting the disc.
Silent Hill f is within 10 days anyways and is priority 1 of 2025 then just a week after that Yōtei also.
