Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Monster Hunter Wilds?

This is the first MH that got its hooks in me. Absolutely loving the experience so far as I’m just dipping my toes into the endgame. I’m planning on going back and playing World and Rise at some point.

An 8 for me.
Very good game.

Not super high, given it still runs rough for no reason for a game that looks as it does on a higher end PC, and its absolute insistence to not let you off the leash for hours upon hours, even when Rise let you do everything with other players from very early on, is baffling.

If youre a fan youre a fan for lyfe.

10/10 from me, the best Monster Hunter game I've played so far and I'm already looking forward to see what the expansion consists of.

Definitely 9/10, one of the best MH games ever. If they could just increase the health of the monsters so it doesn't last less than 15 minutes I'd be fully satisfied with the monster fights.

Honestly, I'd give it an 9-9.5. I love it and I'm enjoying my time with it. REFramework helped smooth out a lot of the performance on PC for me.

Easy 9. The story/writing is improved to a surprising degree. Some fights like the first time you take on Fulgur Anjanath are visually stunning.

6 for me, maybe lower. The difficulty is just not present in the current version, maybe they will be able to up that in the coming months, but it is way too easy for any MH vet (my opinion) and the battles with large monsters should be more difficult.
The ease of access in Wilds makes it perfect for newcomers, but it does a good job of hanging those that are NOT new to the franchise out to dry with the level of hand-holding at present.
The game is very pretty, but it has taken the need for any kind of prep for a battle to the lowest tier possible and made it so easy that you only need to restock your items and throw the strength and weakness chart to the wind. Wanna kill a lightning based monster, just be sure to have plenty of Potions and Mega potions since it won't make a difference what weapon buffs or armour buffs you might have, you can still take it down like rusty scaffolding.
My rant about the short-comings at the current version got a bit long-winded there.

The good thing about this title is the amount of new players it has opened the franchise up to, people that have hated earlier iterations of the game. It has "streamlined" the collection process and does a decent job of introducing new players to some of the nuances of the variety of weapons in the game. I hope that it piques the interest of these newcomers and draws them to revisit older titles and become even better hunters.

I havent played it so no score from me, but if the Pro version did not exist it would automatically get a low score given the visuals/performance on base PS5.

Never played a monster hunter game before so I thought I'd give this one a go. Now I just need to get my Phd in understanding how to play it It's like 'get thingy a, add it b, press x, o, x, x, x, now tap R2 with a radish and close your eyes. Using a harmonica calculate the square root of minus one, subtract that from an apple.' OK. Done that, what does it do?... Gets you to the next menu item.

It’s a 9 for me. I expect it to be a 10/10 once the DLC is released. Iceborne and Sunbreak were outstanding.

Once again you are asking a little too early for such a game. I'll just say I have no trouble at all with the performance on base PS5 balance mode.

Only thing holding it back from a 10 is the lack of feeling satisfied in the postgame. Very similar postgame to Rise, which isn’t really the greatest.

@guacguacboo same, though of the two world’s pre dlc postgame was the best. Rise was very bare bones and so too is Wilds.

MH World- Wilds are much more beginner friendly than the older classic MH titles.
Make use of the training area to learn how to use the weapon types

8.5/10. It's a darn good game. But 1.5 points is taken from the technical difficulties and also because the story quests often take control away from the player. But still, it's a very good game.

I’ve loved every MH game since the first one on the PS2, MHFU and Tri/3U will always be favourites.
It’s going to be hard playing Wilds and as well as carrying with Rise ( at the same time as getting annoyed at the hunter in Rise as they don’t seem to shut up and constantly talk whether you’re picking up an item or hopping onto palamute to get to areas much faster)

7/10 based on what i've played. Easily the weakest "modern era" entry and it feels so stripped back and dumbed down. Honestly i question anyone who claims its the best entry because its really not. The new monsters are great though and there's some sweet weapon and armour designs as well, i also love how cinematic some of the fights are but yeah i'm a bit underwhelmed and i hate how much has been removed or dumbed down. Its a good game but honestly a weak entry in the series.

As for visuals and performance well its pretty fine on Pro, there's no real blur and the 60fps holds pretty well.

7/10 from me. Weakest entry in awhile. It's nice that it opens it up for new players, but its soo dumbed down and stripped back that fights are just boring. Can breeze through every fight without any prep or need to even care about what element your weapon is.

It only takes about 10 minutes to look into their shareholder meetings to realize Capcom pushed this game out unfinished intentionally simply to meet Financial quarterly projections for the shareholders(which they were absolutely not going to meet if this game was delayed even just a month).

This is common and this is the reason why games continue to come out and they're not ready it's not for gamers it's simply for shareholders and I think it's about time reviews start to reflect that this is just not okay. regardless of how good the gameplay may be... there needs to be some level of standards and integrity where every game considers technical performance and not just the ones from lesser known outfits it seems like these big bloated money hungry outfits seem to get a pass and it does make you wonder why that is...

I mean if you really take a step back and look at the visual fidelity that they had to go with simply to get this to run on console it's just absurd coming from an outfit as big as Capcom. This would be fine as an indie title at $40 to have this level of performance especially when you consider it s entirely broken on PC. You take into account capcom's history and this is probably not even going to get fixed or improved.

I have no doubt that for MH fans it's a decent entry. However, it shouldn't get a pass or biased reception Ala Pokémon, merely because it tickles your nerd strings...

9/10. The only thing that holds back perfection (I'm only 12 hours in), is the fiddly controls with inventory. God AWFUL

7.5 overall, Capcom had a win but they screwed up the performance. REX engine can't come soon enough to hopefully fix furure open world games.

9.5. The gameplay is perfect in my opinion. They just need to brush up on the UI and graphics a little.

I would say an 8 right now. I think it will end up being an 9 after a few updates.

Easy 9.5 leaning towards 10 so I gave it that. Now having played it myself some, I can confidently say the optimization issues are so overblown. I'm playing on a launch ps5 balanced mode and not only is it super smooth but the game looks stunning most of the time. It's a far cry from what it looked like in the beta. The game is on the easy side so far but I'm loving the new areas. I love the new monsters. Combat has been the best it's ever been so far. I honestly can't wait for the expansion where you get master rank gear of all the new mons

I wouldnt call myself a veteran MH player but ive played enough to know i know what im doing. I like Wilds when im battling monsters but that about it. The story is crap to the point where im just skipping cut scenes to get to the next battle. I have fainted a couple of times but thats down to my own stupidity as opposed to the difficulty. Maybe im just not far enough through yet (about to fight the octopus thing) but ive never felt i need to really prepare with anything other than mega potions and a couple of antidotes. I dont like the bases in comparison to Rise or World either. They felt like a mini village and were nice and vibrant,especially Rise. I dunno somethings just missing for me in this game. I went with a 7. It would be interesting to know the percentage of people giving it the high marks that are coming in to Wilds as their first MH game as imo it pales in comparison to Rise.

But by the end once the free content rolls out it could be a 8.5 to a 9 (it will never be a 10 due to dodgy performance at launch)

@Dragoon1994 Yeah. To be fair, with Monster Hunter the real game generally begins with the high rank when the story has ended. The hunts themselves are just as fun as before, so if you can manage to survive through the story quests and their handholding, things are going to get a lot better.

Once again you offer idiot's a 1 out of 10 option at least one will have to click it thinking they are funny or clever.

I've never played any of the games, not my sort of thing so won't put a review score but it's obviously not anything less than a 5 at it's worst as by all accounts it's playable and not broken

True but World also has story quests during the high rank and master rank though

@rusty82 It's pretty much always the case that the 1/10 option gets more votes than 2/10, 3/10 etc that should logically get more votes as they are far more realistic (although still super low for this game). I think 1/10 should be for games that are completely broken or not games at all (like those somewhat recent AI storybook titles).

Anyway, 8.5/10 for me, but I rounded it up to 9/10 on the poll.

I'm not into souls like games so I don't play them but wouldn't score one a 1 out of 10 unless I played it and it was broken to the point it's unplayable.

8.5 for me. I do feel it's lacking in content but cpu allys are a gift from heaven. So if I ever can't find people to play with, this gives the game so much more life imo

I have not even entered high rank yet.

But, i have been enjoying it minus the issues with performance and the low res textures. I think they really hold back the game. I could not in good conscious give it more than a 7 while those remain. When those are gone, it may upgrade to 8 or 9.

Love the Game, but its lacks content - i platined within a week and am HR 135 only. They made the Crown Hunting easy - which i prefer don't get me wrong. But overall the Monster hardly made a challange - i build a gearset just at the last line - avarage not upgrade HR gear was ok till the end. I hope for new challanges soon, so i can put my just crafted upgrade into work.

Game itself is great tho, some improvemnts in usability, interface and quality of life. Its a great entry for beginner because the story teaches eveything and the difficulty is low. Co-Op is fun as always and you get great funny moments. Some performance issues and bugs are annoying tho.
