Really really really looking forward to posting this bit I just don't have the time to play games any more (my media of choice over the last year has been books) but I love action adventure games. Tomb raider and Unchartered being my favourites.
So I'll definitely play this but when it's free on PS+ or at least heavily discounted.
Voted 10 - Outstanding. Because it is. But I agree with the amount the mini games can get in the way but it's a good way of delivering the grind of the original. I remember for days on end at level 19 just running around in circles for the random battles to reach level 20 before I wanted to move on with the story, to make it easier. This is no different.
Been looking to play Valhalla for ages now and I go to Norway in May so this has come at a better time.
My only concern is what I'll sink into first, Valhalla or Rebirth. I can't play two games at once and for the first time since Remake, I've bought a game full price so I'll be annoyed with myself if it takes me a month or 2 to play it.
Demo was great and this is a day one purchase for me. Which is saying something. I exclusively play PS+ games or games that are heavily discounted as I just don't have the time to invest in games and can't take the risk. This is not the case with this though, I'll absolutely fall straight into this. I just hope I can complete it before I go on holiday on the 31st March. 2 hours a day, 5 days a week should be a out 80 hours of game play.
I'm already completely sold on it, I bought and paid for my pre-order last week but I'm still going to dial into this and play the demo. For a 100+ hour game I'm sure there will be plenty of things these trailers and showcases are not showing!
Did anybody else feel that the camera speed was just too fast? I played the demo and I just couldn't get my head around how twitchy the camera felt. It just didn't seem smooth. I tried slowing it down but that just made it slow and twitchy.
I don't really know how else.tomdescribe it but I couldn't get past the demo and I LOVE Final Fantasy.
No chance. We're probably still a year, if not longer, away from release where the install base for PS5 will be even higher. Plus, let's face it, if there's anyone that hasn't jumped into the new-gen yet, they absolutely will for GTA6.
Don't know where I fit in the poll answers really. The lock downs have me so much time to game that I cleared a large amount of my backlog. I absolutely loved spider man and miles. But now that life is back to normal I just can't justify paying 70 for a game I don't have time to play.
Anyway, the definitive answer for me is that I'll pay it as soon as it inevitably goes free on ps+
What's the quickest thing to ever get cancelled with Sony? This is probably going to take the #1 spot though. Absolutely shocking how completely out of touch Sony have become with this kind of thing.
Anyway, how does remote play meant to work? Times I've tried in the past, it HAS to be connected to the same local network, ie the same WiFi connection. My internet downloads at about 10mb/s on a good day so it's nowhere near strong enough. I'd happily stream off my 5G on my phone or something but then the device can never find my PS5 because they're running on 2 different networks.
The only gone WiFi that is available to me has a download speed of 8-15mb/s. Until GB/s shed becomes normal, things like this just are simply impossible.
If love a new Sony handheld but if this is only about remote play then count me out.
Can't wait to play Forbidden West. I absolutely loved the first one but I can never bring myself to justify spending £60+ on a game at launch (although I'll break that rule for FF7 Rebirth ) so I was waiting for a cheaper option.
Does anyone have any idea how long these will be available for? I don't really want to stop playing what I'm playing right now to start FW.
@Th3solution hmm, now that's a rationale a like. And if that genuinely is the reason then I respect the decision. Now we just need to bring back Valhalla!
Anyone able to offer any genuine rationale over why games are taken off? I kinda get Valhalla as it's still a fairly new release but these titles surely see more revenue from a share of the PS+ sub $$ than raw sales?
This is ridiculous. I bought PS Extra on Wednesday last week (which already pissed me off as the next day it was 25% off!!) and this is the first game I have stated playing from it. I'm half way through chapter 2 and I get a "your license is expired, please upgrade or buy the game" message. Absolutely livid.
I see it's not meant to have happened. But how long until it's fixed?
I download or put in my library the games every month in case I ever want to play them. But never do. Last one I played was one of the Tomb Raider games. But I'll be downloading and playing PGA Tour asap. I like golf games but can't be arsed to buy one.
Damnit... I really got into the Tomb Raider games during Lockdown 1.0 and NEARLY completed all 3. I got about half way through Shadow (PS Now) before I went back to work and didn't have time to play it any more. During Lockdown 2.0 I bought it so I could compete it because it wasn't on Now any more. Damnit!
I think there's a difference between "willing to pay" and what I believe it will be valued at. I personally see it priced at £449/£399. And I don't fall out with that. But would I be willing to spend that? No. Not at the moment, not at launch.
I'll do one of 3 things (in likeliness order): 1. Wait six months for the inevitable software patches and bug fixes. And also wait to see if I still have a job in 6 months. 2. Buy it about a month after launch regardless because the hype is real 3. Wait 12-18 months for a price drop
It's a tough one tbh. Come the end of October when the furlough scheme ends, how many people are going to lose their jobs? I'd hazard a guess that somewhere between 5-20% of the current workforce will be jobless by November. No way people are going to be in a position to buy a luxury item such as this in those kind of climates. At the moment it's ok as people are still earning money. I'd probably recommend pushing back to December to begin with so there is a level of understanding of the economic crunch for a few weeks prior to launch.
Does your TV have an optical output? If so then just plug the cable into your TV instead of the PS and it'll work fine. Your TV will just work as a middle man in the sound journey.
I'll 100% play this game one day. I've lived on zone 1 for the last 8 years of my life so looking forward to seeing what the newest game can envisage my back yard as. Last game I can remember that took part in London was AC Syndicate and that stopped 1 road away from where I live. This better not do the same!
I can't see this being anything more or less than understandable.
Personally I don't buy games at launch (FF7r was the exception to the rule). The catalog is too big for me to not find something I'll like/want or even stumble upon. £25-30 is probably my max. But then with PS Now, PS Plus and EA Access I'd probably only buy 1 or 2 games a year outside of those.
A few things to consider... 1. I'll prob wait 6/12 months after launch. Still feel burnt after buying PS3 at launch. Didn't for PS4 and the experience was much better. 2. My intention is to buy the physical, just in case. I tend to own most things digital and games are no different but I wouldn't like not having the option. 3. I'll buy digital if the price difference is £100+. But strongly doubt it will.
I loved the TR games on PS1. TR was the first game I ever bought for it and followed the series closely. I stopped though on the newer generations. Where do I start with PS4 ones? Heard good things about them and they fit with the style of game I like.
Also love American sports so have always wanted an NBA game but could never justify the cost as I'm just generally crap at sports games. So toe this month is looking like it is going to be an absolute winner.
I only learned this have exists yesterday. I love driving games but never get very far in then because I get bored too easily. But still get suckered into getting the latest big game (can't wait to play GT7 for 2 hours and then move on!) but the concept of this looks like it will keep me hooked to completion.
Such a shame that it looks like it was made 10 years ago.
@chadders so is your worry more about using a data limit? In my experience downloading a game online takes just as much time as transferring the data from a disk. Or for slow connections it can just be left to download overnight. Either way it doesn't sound like storage is the issue really.
But to answer your question, no there will be no way at all the digital edition will have additional storage.
@johnnyShoulder what are the other games available on Xbox? I don't have Xbox so the difference doesn't affect me but I'm seriously considering getting a years pass to this. £20 is nothing in the grand scheme of things and I dropped £40 just on NFL18 so even playing just one game is value for money imo. I know it's ANOTHER streaming service and it is annoying that there isn't one common thing like PS Now but it's the same thing for TV and no one moans too much about that any more.
Hang on, am I reading this right? I can pay £20 and play all the NFS games (except Heat in its entirety) and the FIFA, NHL and NFL franchises for a whole year??
If that's the case then how in God's green earth are people saying this isn't worth it???

Re: Most PlayStation Fans Aren't At All Sold on a PS5 Remote Play Handheld
I'd love a new Sony handheld but remote play is a big fail for me.
My WiFi speed is a max DL of 15mb and a regularly DL at about 9mb. This is nowhere near enough to support remote play.
Maybe in 2026 when my council eventually upgrades to FTP internet...

Played every single UC game and loved them all. Looking forward to the movie as well.
Absolutely zero interest in buying them again to replay them.
