This is very cool to see. Japan and its people and culture have given us a lot of good through video games. It's nice to see the West use that culture in a respectful, interesting way to return the favor when we can.
Started The Ivalice Chronicles and dang, the presentation is fantastic. I have the original, the PSP release, and the better-than-you're-likely-assuming mobile port and I've never seen this game look so slick. The pixel artwork is great but honestly, I keep staring at the textures on buildings and rocks! The devs took so much care to mimic that lo-fi PSX look but it's so clean. It would've been easy to "upgrade" them so much that they no longer blend with the 2D characters or even oddly upstage them, but the artists showed careful restraint and I love it.
The people who make great modern interpretations and remakes of older titles often say that they try to recreate not how the source material played, but how it made you feel when you played it. Similarly, this new version of FF Tactics doesn't look exactly like the original, but rather how I remember the original looking in my rapt, reverent mind. Very cool.
I have yet to really try a Digimon game. Cyber Sleuth (I think that's the one) sounded interesting but all I've done is admire it from afar, I guess. The Digimon anime was big when I was young, but I never watched it and so the games are so strange to me, from the outside. The mons are data that just kind of comes together randomly, which is why they can evolve sideways and backwards? And the evolution lines are like cute cat -> sentient gun -> nun with large boobles -> BDSM T-Rex with a sword?
@PuppetMaster Yeah, I feel you. I'm glad they're all still doing well, from what I can tell. Maybe they'll reunite someday for something. Maybe a new Easy Livin' on the beach? How cozy would that be? They did some really great streams... I'll have to queue some up later, now that I think of it. It's been a while since I watched them go through Porky's Haunted Holiday, haha.
@nessisonett Sorry to bother you about something unrelated, but I've spent the last few minutes trying to figure out your username and I'm very curious: is it a play on "Ness (of Onett) is on it?"

Re: Yakuza Kiwami 3 Has a 'Significant Number of New Scenes'
@nessisonett I hadn't heard of this. I appreciate it.
Re: Remedy Upgrades Control with PS5 Pro Support, New Patch Out Now
Oof, I'm super jealous of you current-gen players. This game must look FANTASTIC with HDR, let alone the resolution and framerate bumps. I burn...

@RBMango "I refuse to call it X and wince anytime someone calls it that in my presence."
This is proof that your brain is working as intended.
Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Still Coming to PS5, It's Claimed
Wow, I didn't know that these games weren't already on current-gen systems (can't afford one yet). Rockstar truly is a lumbering giant.

Re: Skate Season 1 Brings New Events, Challenges, More Next Week on PS5, PS4
I said something similar on a different site, but what a bummer that THIS is the return of Skate that we waited so long for.
Re: Oblivion Remastered's Anticipated Physical PS5 Release Will Require the Internet
Boo, says I, with enough characters to post a comment.
Re: The Finals Update Brings New Time-Limited 'Heaven or Else' Game Mode
I'd never seen this game before. It was looking pretty unique until I saw the gun skin porn.
Re: Halo: Combat Evolved Remake Could Be the Final Frontier for Xbox on PS5
What a wild thing this will be to see.
Re: 'It's Not Just About Adding More': Persona 4 Revival Producer Wants to Get the Remake Right
Very interested to see how it turns out. I love Golden and have faith they can do it justice, but we'll see. Cautious optimism, and all that.

Re: It's Not Fixed Yet, But Borderlands 4 Still Wants You Hyped for Its First DLC Character
Boo, I say. Focus on fixing the game and your studio's wildly busted leadership.
Re: New PS5 Slim Is Cheaper in Every Way Except the Retail Price, New Teardown Video Reveals
This console generation has been brutal in some fun, new ways, huh?
Re: Ghost of Yotei's London Billboard Is One of the Coolest Ads We've Seen in Ages
Dang, that's rad.
Re: Rumour: Mass Effect, Dragon Age Studio BioWare Braced for Layoffs After EA's Buyout Agreement
Just sell them already, jesus. I don't have much hope for them under someone else or on their own, but at least they'd get a fair "final shot."
Re: Prototype Remaster Could Potentially Be Happening, Evidence Found in PC Version
Still some of my favorite locomotion in games. I'd love to see them updated.
Re: 'If This Doesn't Sell, There Won't Be a Next One': Dynasty Warriors 3 Remake Producer Asks for Support
I'd be more willing to buy that if Koei Tecmo wasn't consistently one of the most profitable games publishers in Japan.
Re: Ghost of Yotei Gets a Near Perfect Score in Japan's Most Famous Gaming Magazine
@Oram77 "I've said this before but the two lead devs at Sucker Punch were made ambassadors of Tsushima because of the game."
Yeah, the game's positive reception in Japan is so cool to hear about. And I love reading about how the game has helped facilitate some good in Japan too, like this: https://www.eurogamer.net/amp/2021-01-11-ghost-of-tsushima-fans-crowdfund-repairs-to-typhoon-hit-island

Re: Digimon Story Time Stranger (PS5) - Monster Taming RPG Squanders So Much Potential
Here's to hoping they address these things in a director's cut, I suppose.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles?
I'll definitely be checking it out at some point. The original is a masterpiece.
Re: Another SEGA Baddie Has Been Revealed for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance's Villain DLC
@Mikeg1965 How dare you get my hopes up. You know how how gullible they are.
Re: Fans Left Speechless as Capcom Locks Street Fighter 6 Finals Behind Paywall
Baffling. This is like anti-advertising.
