As developer Gearbox Software works to fix all versions of Borderlands 4 and get the now-delayed Switch 2 edition out, it's still trucking along with DLC plans. The first expansion, titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, is set to arrive in early 2026, and it'll be bundled with the first post-launch Vault Hunter.

The new character is named C4SH, a "former casino dealer bot" turned "drifter who chases the probability-breaking highs of cursed eldritch artifacts. Leaning into the robot's roots in blackjack and poker, the three Action Skills that C4SH uses all revolve around chance. Their "risk-reward playstyle can lead to good fortunes like buffing himself and allies, dealing devastating damage, sapping the strength from foes, and more".

Between now and then, it'll be the studio's job to fix the console and PC versions, as well as release the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Borderlands 4 runs worse the longer you play it, potentially as a result of a memory leak — a similar issue that affects Oblivion Remastered.

We still feel the PS5 title is worth playing overall, though. In our 7/10-rated Borderlands 4 PS5 review, we said: "If you can grin and bear through some bad console performance, Borderlands 4 rewards you with a whole lot more looting and shooting."
