If you travelled back in time just a few years and told us Halo: Campaign Evolved would feature in a PS5 montage trailer, we genuinely wouldn’t believe you.
But here it is, one of 15 titles featured in a two-minute hype trailer, which we reported on yesterday.
Sony’s nestled the Xbox first-person shooter alongside first-party efforts like Marvel’s Wolverine and Saros, demonstrating just how important it believes Master Chief’s debut will be.
Obviously, the context needs no real explanation here, but Halo is (or, perhaps, was) Xbox’s flagship franchise. The firm’s first console and its successor largely sold on the strengths of Bungie’s trilogy.

But now we live in a world where it’s entirely possible the majority of Halo: Campaign Evolved’s console sales may be made on PS5 – especially with the game being included in Xbox Game Pass on Microsoft’s machine.
It’s yet another reminder of how fast the industry can move – remember, it was only approximately 18 or so months ago that Xbox boss Phil Spencer was telling fans only “four” first-party games would be going multiformat.
Now we live in a world where the Redmond firm’s big three – Forza, Gears of War, and Halo – all exist on PS5. And not only that, they’re gradually becoming part of PlayStation’s promotional efforts, too.
There’ll come a time in the not-too distant future where none of this is surprising. But for now, it’s still all causing us to do a double-take.
