Blade Runner Game Rumour

Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games was apparently working on an unannounced PS6 and PS5 game based on the Blade Runner universe — but the project has now been cancelled.

According to a fresh scoop from Insider Gaming, the title entered pre-production back in September of last year, and the plan was to get everything up and running here in 2025. It was targeting an eventual 2027 release window, and as alluded, the team had its eyes on current and next-gen consoles.

It was reportedly called Blade Runner: Time to Live, and it was to feature a cinematic story paired with third-person, action adventure gameplay. Set in the year 2065, you'd play as a the last remaining Blade Runner — a character called So-Lange.

It all sounds pretty promising on paper, so why was it cancelled? Well, Insider Gaming says that production company Alcon Entertainment is potentially to blame. Alcon is the current rights holder for everything Blade Runner, but its reasons for shutting the project down — late last year — are unclear.

It's obviously a huge shame that this one was canned; a franchise like Blade Runner, from the perspective of a studio like Supermassive, certainly sounds intriguing. Having said that, it's clear that the development cycle was only just kicking into gear — so the hope is that nothing of too much value has been lost.
