Don't Expect a Marathon Shadow Drop This Weekend Following the Big PS5 Reveal

There is no way Bungie could afford to Shadow drop anything. As I said in another post, I think Bungie will 100% deliver the gameplay but will people gel with it, is the main question.

As someone who tried and struggled to stick with Destiny, I'm actually quite hyped for something new from Bungie. Hopefully a more focused, tight, accessible game that people can jump into without so much world-building, grinding etc.

I don’t expect a shadow drop. The game has undergone a lot of changes from what was reported. So it could be a ways off yet. But i am excited to see it. Hoping they get it right.

Interesting split in the polls. To be honest, I enjoyed Halo 1 and 2, back in the day, and had some fun on Destiny, despite falling off the 2nd pretty quick. Nevertheless, the art style of this really doesn't appeal to me, (although most seem to be of a different opinion!) so while I'm not particularly interested, it seems it has a chance of success if it can pick up traction.

they got my full support when they revealed their last IP, I preordered and went top tier... and all was good. Prime gameplay mechanics. Then they decided it was cool to remove access to content I paid for because they wanted me to buy their next expansion.
That is where our paths parted.
Haven't given them a dime nor time since then. They can do whatever, make water speak, don't care. Bungie does not exist in my universe.

Say what you want about Destiny, but it is the best feeling shooter on the market. Bungie knows gameplay, and I'm sure Marathon would be no different. Can't wait to see what they have in store.

I'm not really into the whole live service thing; only played through the base content of both Destiny titles but still had a decent time with them. I'll probably tune in just to see what this game actually looks like. Despite all their issues, Bungie still know how to craft excellent first person gunplay.

@Dan12836666 You understand they all have extremely popular multiplayer modes right? Not only that but every Halo game was playable through it’s campaign in co-op.

Would be interested if there's a single player campaign, but if it is exclusively a multiplayer extraction shooter then I'm out.
Still hope it turns out great for those who are interested.

Interested to see how this game pans out. Hopefully it’s a success for those excited and for bungie as a studio. Being an older gamer I find I no longer have the time to properly invest in PvP games so it’s unlikely I’ll be playing this - particularly as it will be launching as a paid title rather than f2p.

I'm VERY curious to see what Bungie has got up its sleeve with this game. Loved all the Halo games and dumped well over 1000 hours into Destiny 1. Fell off Destiny 2 in the first year and never found a way back (I can't believe how bad D2 onboarding still is - it's like they're begging to kill that game through attrition, though that's a whole other conversation).

I've long been craving a good extraction shooter on console and am really hoping this is the one that hits. CoD DMZ was fun for a bit, but didn't have legs and, while I love Hunt: Showdown in premise, the gunplay just isn't tight on console.

I never played Marathon back in the day (started with Myth), so I can't speak to how connected or not to the original this game is, but, regardless of the bad press Bungie has gotten recently (and justifiably so), I still have faith in the rank-and-files' ability to make top-of-class gunplay.
