I'm going to have to get PS Plus to get the most out of it, and that's okay. I rather enjoy games where I can kind of set my own priorities. There's just a hint of Animal Crossing's freedom about it, and I really like that.
Are they still working on a crossover with a big western property? I can't believe that Berserk is that shudder. I'm looking forward to what they bring next, though I am loving playing through the triad of Samurai Warriors games. And Toukiden 2 shouldn't be too far away.
I liked what Microsoft and Ubisoft had to show, was underwhelmed by Sony (I was last year, too, so I assume I'm an outlier and a lot of their big games just don't appeal to me), and fell asleep during EA's.
That was the first thing I said at the end of the show—this isn't what they were going to close with. Since I doubt they're worried about showcasing a game too soon (looking at the triumvirate that got fans into a tizzy last year), I'm betting it was something shooting related that felt off given current events.
The game that got me completely addicted to my Vita, and the 1.5 version of Kiwami meant dozens of more hours. Heck, Being able to play that on the big screen is one of the reasons I stumped up for a PS4 a couple of months back. This will be a day-one purchase for me.
@rjejr I agree with you, and the fact of the matter is that PS+ is a subscription for online play, something that used to be free. Now that the games are kind of beside the point, anyone complaining winds up looking ungrateful. It was a slick way to shift the online access paradigm.
It's simple for me: I don't play online games, so the value of PS+ or GwG is close to nil. I get bothered by the evangelists telling me I need to subscribe because of $XXX in free games every year. Even though they're just disguised rentals.
Part of the success is that they have us believing they're giving us games, ones we pay for and lose if we stop subscribing. One of the better sleights-of-hand in marketing I've ever seen.
I've got Forza 6/Horizon 2 and Project CARS for varying levels of realism, Mario Kart for non-realism, and Trackmania Turbo for insanity coming eventually. I just don't need this.
EDIT: And yeah, knock off the always-online stuff.
The question for mobile games is how much longer mobile devices will be in their present form or go to an AR-type format. That would change the games landscape remarkably.
Also: Sony, please make MLB The Show 16 for the Vita.
I hope they do just because I really like special-edition controllers. I have the Forza, Titanfall, and one of the Halo 5 ones for the Xbox One, so I might get this one as my fourth. I'm looking forward to doing the same sort of thing when I get my PS4.
The mobile market is (bafflingly) large, but Sony made enough mistakes with the Vita that they should sit on the sidelines of portables for a bit. A powerful system, without enough support to develop the correspondingly complicated games, as well as a bad memory card decision doomed the thing. And I love mine.
@AcesHigh73 I can't touch that cascade of events, mate, though a few of them sound familiar. Keep it going, have faith in you and what you're doing. Reach out when you need.
Interesting. As someone who habitually suffers from depression, I'll be curious to see their take on it.
And if one more person tells me to just cheer up/buck up/pull it together... ya know, I am making an effort, between the therapy and the meds and diet and everything...
Just from a simple PR standpoint, it would make a lot of sense for Konami to get out in front of this. Unless it's some kind of legal agreement to not talk about it, they need to address this head on. They're looking bad, and we don't know how the relationship went sour.
It's a lovely little system, and I'm thankful that it's still getting Japanese support. And because Sony doesn't region-lock things, I can piece together an even bigger library by importing. Hooray!
I wish the Vita was getting more love, but really, there are enough titles for it, and I have plenty of games I haven't gotten all the way through. And it's still a very impressive piece of tech.
For PS4 owners this must be great. But as a portable person, I was really hoping the Vita might get some kind of nudge. A shame that Sony is treating it as a PS4 peripheral in the West.
A great title for all of you PS4 owners, though I was hoping for this on the Vita as well. Trackmania on the DS was perfect with the bite-sized action. Ah well.
If software goes digital-only, then publishers are going to have to up their marketing game. So much will be word-of-mouth and spread via social media. Storefronts will have to be easier to use, too. Right now, in retail stores, there are three dimensions of space available. You can take a lot in all at once. Shrinking that to two dimensions, it becomes more of a clamor.

Re: E3 2016: Who'd Have Ever Thought NieR Would Get a Sequel That Actually Looks Good?
I play my Xbox One more than my PS4, and I don't think it's even close: I want Nier and not Scalebound.
Re: E3 2016: No, Dynasty Warriors Won't Be Showing Up at E3

Re: Feature: All the E3 2016 Press Conferences Rated and Reviewed
@Gamer83 To be fair, though, I don't see a lot of anybody over at Pure Xbox...

Re: Talking Point: Can Sony Top Its E3 2015 Press Conference?
I was underwhelmed last year. The two games I really saw people lose their stuff over we won't see for years.
Re: Now Ubisoft's Saying Consoles Like PS4 will Be Replaced by Streaming Services
Yep. And The Division was going to change gaming forever. Uh huh.
Re: Capcom: Street Fighter V Needed More Polish and More Content
@JoeBlogs I have a very public job. I play games to get away from people, not interact with more of them. I'll wait until they finish SFV.
Re: PS4 Exclusive Gran Turismo Sport Ready for Full Reveal Next Week
Between this and the soon-to-be-revealed Forza title, why do I bother playing any other genres?
Re: Dead Island: Retro Revenge May Be More Dislikeable Than Battleborn
It's like they want us to not buy it. Which is something I can do.
Re: Want to Feel Old? Final Fantasy XV was Announced 10 Years Ago Yesterday
I was 28, still married, and about to start my doctorate. Now I'm engaged, a professor, and 2000 miles away.
I was also pretty much handheld-only at that point. I sat out most of the last generation, so this announcement wasn't on my radar.
Maybe in another ten years I'll be telling my kids about the forthcoming FFVII remake...
Re: UK Sales Charts: Ratchet & Clank Stays Top for a Second Week
Hopefully this gets Sony's attention as far as marketing is concerned. You can push a game besides Man Raider.
I still plan to get DiRT Rally, but I'm going to pick that up on the Xbox One (that controller is more comfortable for me on driving games).
Re: More Single Player Content Is Coming to Street Fighter V, Says Capcom
It's exactly why I haven't purchased SFV. There's no point to it for me right now since I don't really play anything online.
Re: GameStop's Stoked About the PS4K At the Very Least
He must be talking about the Vita 2. Right? Right?!?
Why's everyone looking at me like that?
Re: Review: Ratchet & Clank (PS4)
I've just about run out of things to do/get in Sunset Overdrive, so the timing on this couldn't be any better.

@rjejr Complacent/arrogant Sony of the past is not something I want to revisit, but your numbers are hard to deny.

Re: Review: TrackMania: Turbo (PS4)
I swing between loving it and being infuriated by it. Only playing solo, and enjoying it much more now that I've turned the voices off.

That's lovely. Will get once I get the console.
Re: Activision Should Cancel the PS3 Version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5
It's so bad it's actually kind of entertaining. The video review Polygon posted is still funny.

Re: Samurai Warriors 4: Empires Devises a Strategy on PS4, PS3, Vita in the West Next Year
I skipped 4-II due to lack of time, and it's nice to see I'm being rewarded for it. Warriors games are still the best remedy for a bad day at work.
Re: Can Your Wallet Survive the Latest NA PS Store Flash Sale?
Race the Sun and Machinarium for the Vita. Woot.
Re: Review: Samurai Warriors 4-II (PS4)
I want this one, though we'll see if I have time between wrapping up Dynasty Warriors 8 and starting Arslan when it comes out.

This would be great. Add in the blue Gamestop-exclusive Vita, and it seems like the platform might not be completely dead yet.
Re: Sony: We Cannot Entertain People Without Trying New Ideas
@Cyber-BLP-- Yeah, pretty much that. Here's hoping Sony has an attention span this time.
Re: UK Sales Charts: There's Nothing to See Here
@Matroska Heh, they must go for the jewelry store/guitar shop model. Everything is 80% off!!!
Re: UK Sales Charts: There's Nothing to See Here
@Matroska That RRP doesn't sound right...
Re: The Force Is with This Limited Edition Star Wars PS4
This is... yeah, underwhelming. A Rebellion orange machine would have gotten my attention. And for some reason that controller is beyond ugly to me.
Re: What Is Samurai Warriors 4-II Exactly?
@WanderingBullet Heh. Yeah, I don't have the attention span to be a Samsung customer.
Re: What Is Samurai Warriors 4-II Exactly?
Any time Koei Tecmo releases a game, wait a bit, because they'll put out another version later.

Re: Store Update: 23rd June 2015 (North America)
Good thing I'm not being pestered with new titles on the Vita: my backlog is big enough.

Nice that another piece from Project X Zone will be commonly available.
Re: Ar nosurge Plus Is Getting a Limited Physical Edition After All, But Only In North America
@ollietaro If the box art in the photo is legit, then yeah. They've marked the boxes with a download code rather well on Vita.
I'm also trying to be optimistic.
Re: Koei Tecmo Continues the Vita Love with JRPG Ar nosurge Plus
@Chronobreak Yep, beat me to it. Hooray for physical release!
