I think a kid should get something they can interact with and cherish for years to come. I still have most of my favorite gifts I got as a kid. The right gift can literally create a lifetime of memories for the recipient. Digital bucks for a live service game that’s gonna be shut down in a few years time ain’t that.

I’d say I’m disappointed that Rayman Legends 2 will be made by AI. But let’s not kid ourselves. Even with AI Ubisoft still wouldn’t ever make it.

I just don’t understand. If a company is going to charge 70 usd for a video game. Shouldn’t the video game at least be exquisitely hand crafted? If AI makes games cheaper to make, why are game prices going up? They’re literally charging higher prices for lower quality products. And it is honestly beyond shocking how many gamers are okay with that.

It honestly surprises me. That they would use generative AI to help develop the game and then still have the gall to charge $70 for it just surprises me. And it surprises me even more that people have actually purchased it. I guess it’s no wonder game companies think they can get away with anything. Because they continue to get away with anything.

Man. When I read an article about a dev that uses AI to make their games shutting down another of their games that’s not even toddler age. I just so thoroughly yearn for the industry of old. I think PS5 and Switch 2 might end up being my last consoles. What I loved about the industry is on life support. I guess I am a dinosaur or whatever. But being able to buy a game that was well crafted and then own it forever really was the way. And when that finally completely leaves the industry, which it will, I’m gonna leave the industry too. It’s been a good run.

The greatest threat to gaming isn’t tik tok. It’s prices. Of everything. When people can’t afford groceries they won’t be spending money on video games. Game companies should be using whatever lobbying might they have to help make prices lower. Because when people are forced to choose necessities or entertainment. Entertainment always loses. And the economy is not good and is looking like it’ll likely be getting worse.

I need to see more. See reviews. I love the original Halo, so if this is a good remake I will absolutely pick it up.

This thinking doesn’t make any sense. How is it not a direct competitor? People don’t have unlimited resources. If they’re going to spend +$400 on a console, they are absolutely going to compare the options. And many people will only get one or the other. By definition that means they compete with each other.

I don’t fully buy their explanation. Video games have always had other forms of entertainment to compete with going all the way back to the arcade days. I think the real reason is that Xbox consoles haven’t been selling well for a while and it is simply now more profitable for Microsoft to go third party than it is to try and sell a console that many people are not interested in. Just like Sega at the turn of the millennium.

I want 5 and infinite on PS5. Those are the only two I never played because I never got an Xbox after the 360.

We’re left with Sony and Nintendo. I don’t like the prospects of the industry’s long term health with only two major players. It’s just completely astonishing how bad Xbox dropped the ball after the success of the 360. It needs to be studied.

@ATaco they’re not equivalent. One person said they don’t have sympathy for someone who literally got a taste of the medicine he spent his life preaching and she got fired for it. The other side is upset that a woman character looks like a real person instead of an anime waifu. And the latter is the far more vocal and numerous of the two.

This is sad. I don’t think many people will seriously say that the PS5 is a better console than the PS3 was. The PS3 had so many amazing games and insane exclusives and first party titles. And way more third party cross platform titles too. Basically this means the PS5 is outselling it despite being an inferior product. That’s not going to be good for the future health of the industry. Gamers are paying more for less. And doing it happily. It’s not good.

It’s so funny that all of those “free speech warrior” comedians totally folded on their principles once someone waved Saudi blood money in front of them. Bad actor states getting increasingly involved in the medium, (Saudi PIF, Tencent) is really worrying. If it continues unabated it might not be long before the core of what we love about the medium is gone forever.

If Sony wants me to buy a ps6 at launch they should release Metal Gear Solid 6 as an exclusive launch title. Basically anything short of that and it ain’t gonna happen.

Nothing improves a balance sheet quite like slashing all of the expenses. At least in the short term.

I sort of agree with him. But for the opposite reason. I don’t think “connect to tv” is going to be the future at all. People who solely play on the mobile market don’t use 55inch tvs. And they likely never will. They’re going to stick to their iPads and iPhones and their vertical tik tok aspect ratio. People who play on tvs do so because they want to be immersed in a well crafted game world. And that’s where Sony is dropping the ball a bit. They need to improve their first party output. Nintendo released a Mario Kart and Donkey Kong this year. And that’s why the Switch 2 is the fastest selling console ever despite high prices. That’s the sort of thing that will build for future success.

Saudi blood money might actually be an improvement for EA. I just refuse to believe they could possibly get any worse than they already are.

What’s up in the air here? He filed suit and it got dismissed in favor of Sega. That sure doesn’t sound like the song is in “limbo.” It sounds like his case was frivolous and that Sega owns the song.

I don't really blame the devs for this. Making sure that the game is adequately enhanced for the very few people who have a PS5 Pro is probably just not worth the extra time and resources to them.

@PuppetMaster I’m not going to care either way. I got the first one and didn’t like it. It just wasn’t for me. I just think this one is coming out in a very different world than the first one did. I could be wrong. But I also could be right.

I think this game is going to be a flop. People are really tired of open world games. That combined with the fact that people are way more choosey about where they spend their money thanks to everything going up in price. I don’t think this game is going to be the smash hit the first one was.

MGS2. With free speech being destroyed and tech companies controlling everything. MGS2 is more timely now than it ever has been.
