Marathon, the upcoming multiplayer shooter from Bungie, will reportedly not be showing up at this week's State of Play broadcast.
The studio's been reluctant to discuss its game for months now, following on from the disastrous revelation that the project had plagiarised a plethora of art assets.
Bungie was forced to carry out a "thorough review" of the situation back in May, leading to Marathon being delayed indefinitely a month or so later.
At the time, reports claimed that the developer was in turmoil behind the scenes, and there were even whispers of a potential cancellation.
In short, Bungie has really struggled to find any kind of footing with Marathon, and according to a new article from Forbes, it clearly isn't ready to reintroduce the game.
The studio had previously said that it would be returning at some point this autumn / fall to discuss its plans with its audience, but this imminent State of Play doesn't seem to be the desired venue.
Apparently, Bungie is currently conducting a number of closed alpha tests behind the scenes as it attempts to reshape the project. You may recall that feedback on Marathon's earlier alpha test was generally quite negative, so the team will feel as though it's got a lot to prove.
