Re: Talking Point: Do We Really Need So Much Gunplay in Games?

ThreadShadow

Great article Sammy!

I'd love non-lethal take downs and captures in all games, from Halo, to Uncharted, Tomb Raider, and even in Zelda it would be fun.

Not killing can be just as fun a gameplay mechanic as killing, it just comes down to whether or not the developer has the imagination and creativity for it.

Even in a very simple form, melee take downs should be non-lethal options, but in many games I'm pretty sure it's just as lethal as the bullet, and just an option for the player to be more brutal.

Re: Flood Your Senses with First Rain Footage

Well this game sure took a turn towards the creepy. I thought it was going to be much more peaceful, kind of like Flower. Anyway, really looking forward to it. I need to get a higher capacity HDD. My 80gb is all full upped.

Re: Dragon's Crown Trailer Punches Your Eyeballs with Pretty Graphics

@shinobi88 @neumaus @Lionhart

My comment was referring strictly to the domain of videogames. I'm certainly not saying you're wrong. We should stand up when aspects make us uncomfortable. Yes women aren't sex objects, but it's not evil for a women to be beautiful and attractive, nor is it a sin to let a breast move (though I agree this game goes far above and beyond in all it's depictions).
It's just funny that if someone stands up against violence/gore they're shot down, and if they should have the gall to stand up against profanity they're practically crucified, but when someone speaks out against sexualized depictions of women, everyone shouts "hear, hear!", as if beautiful women are a bad thing.

Anyway, please continue to stand up for your convictions and don't take my comments as an attack.

To it's credit at least it's hyper-sexualized depictions of women, rather then little girls, which is also very prevalent in Asian games.

Re: SEGA Counting Down to New PlayStation 3 and Vita Announcement

ThreadShadow

The only things I could possibly imagine wanting from SEGA are...

Shenmue 3
Shenmue HD collection (should include "What's Shenmue?" demo) (eShop/PSN)
Skies of Arcadia Legends HD+ (eShop/PSN release)
Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder (arcade game with no console release. eShop/PSN release multiplayer intact.)
Crusader of Centy (eShop/PSN release)
Valkyria Chronicles 2 (full game and DLC Vita compatibility)
Valkyria Chronicles 3 (PSP/Vita release)
Valkyria Chronicles 4 for major consoles with local co-op campaign, and competitive mode.
Maybe a new game in the "Feel the Magic" series? That was hilarious stuff.

I'm having trouble thinking of anymore SEGA IP that I'd like to see.

Re: Review: Life of Pixel (PlayStation Mobile)

ThreadShadow

This is what I was wondering...is it truly challenging or just cheap? The concept is great, and I enjoy it, but there are some truly frustrating aspects.

Didn't PushSquare already review this game though? Or is this a new review for the "patched" version?

I haven't redownloaded the game to get the patched version, because it will erase your save data, and I "worked" too hard to get as far as I have.

Re: Rumour: Final Fantasy XV Is Exclusive to the PS4, Sony Is Contributing to Development

ThreadShadow

Oh great...the first FF game in years that I'm actually excited about and it'll be exclusive to a system I'm not getting.

If the rumour is true, I had a feeling they'd bump Versus up to XV and drop the pretentious "Fabula" stuff, and distance it from XIII. Well, I guess it would only confirm the renumbering.

Hey, why not make it exclusive to PS3 and PS4? Just like The Last Guardian, right, right...Sony?

Re: John Riccitiello Steps Down from His Post as EA CEO

ThreadShadow

EA is still EA, but I'd like to see him resign from the ESRB. First, it's a conflict of interest as far as I see it. People who make games shouldn't be able to sit on the ESRB let alone chair it.

And second, the ESRB has turned into an absolute joke with regards to their digital policy. In this day and age when hundreds of games are releasing digital only, they've stopped giving rating summaries to them. It's just ridiculous. I suppose it isn't just his fault, so the whole ESRB needs to get their act together.

How is a parent supposed to make informed choices when there are no summaries for the descriptors on digital releases?

Re: Machinarium Puzzles PlayStation Vita Later This Month

ThreadShadow

Okay, he's convinced me, I'll buy it again, once I get a 32gb card, and that depends on when Sony will drop their card price. I've been holding off on all PSN Vita purchases. $100 for 32gb card? I bought a Lexis 32 stick for $15!

Back to Machinarium, I had a wonderful experience with this game on PC, and bought it on PS3(haven't got around to playing it yet though). It's just one of a handful of games I really don't mind buying multiple times. If I had a Blackberry Playbook, I'd buy it on that, if I had an iPad I'd buy that version too. Would have bought the Wiiware version. So eventually I'll buy the PSV version.

Re: Review: Urban Trial Freestyle (PlayStation Network)

ThreadShadow

Since my Vita memory card doesn't have enough room for demos I was hoping for a PS3 demo,...but there wasn't one. Trials HD and Trials Evolution are great.
@Sammy I think ubisoft can't bring them to other systems till the games become obsolete and no one remembers them.

Re: How Much Would You Pay to Play Shenmue 3?

ThreadShadow

Wrong site I know, but with Nintendo backing all sorts of strange games these days, why can't they back this for Wii U?

Sure would like Ryo to control with full analog rather then the stiff RE type of controls though.

I had a great idea for Shenmue 3 once. I'll see if I can find it and post it.

48 minutes later... Found it!
"What if Yu Suzuki made Shenmue 3 and it was a FPS? With a zombie mode? And jet fighters? And zombie jet fighters? And a final FPS karate battle with Lan Di on the moon, and then Lan Di became the moon, and his name became Moon Di, and Ryo had to karate him too? Then Ryo fell back to earth during an extreme airboarding stunt segment, landed in Canada, married Nozomi, and became Prime Minister of Canada? What would you think of that? Would Yu Suzuki have made the right development choices?"

Re: Kellee Santiago Backs Ouya, Takes Developer Relations Role

ThreadShadow

Don't worry everyone, you'll all understand it when it becomes a "Playstation Certified Device" and features PSM games on it.

: )

Anyway, I've a read a little about it, and it sounds to me that this is positioned as a system for everyone who loves Steam and wants to play on a TV screen. I've also read they'll be releasing a new one every year like an Apple product. You know...the Apple IIC?

Re: Respawn Entertainment Rendezvousing at E3 2013

ThreadShadow

Even though I don't play CoD games (I've played a couple demos), I'm actually really interested to see what they've come up with. I heard a rumour that it may be sci-fi in nature. Although with it being next-gen and published by EA, I'll probably never ever play it.
