Re: Alien Anal Probe Ensures That Saints Row 4 Is Banned In Australia

ThreadShadow

@2 Please stop spreading that ignorance through the internets.

Companies spend millions on advertising to effect people. It works and they know it.
So when millions of people sit down and voluntarily view and participate in depictions of violence for hours and hours every day, it doesn't effect them?

Sure not everyone will go out and kill someone because of it, but everyone will be effected.
The old axiom "By beholding you become changed" is absolutely true.

But as it stands the music industry is the main contributer to invoking anger and violence in society. Music is very powerful and has the most influence on people. But games, movies, tv, sports, are not blameless.

It is so silly to think that the things we fill our minds with, the things we observe and spend our time on do not change us!

Re: Kojima Wants Someone To Remake Metal Gear Solid Using Fox Engine

Just don't ruin the cut-scenes like Twin Snakes did!

The fight with Ocelot is too easy when you can shoot in First-person mode. That is definitely an experience tied to the game design limitations.

I still haven't finished Twin Snakes, but the original PS version is still definitive in my book.

I'd like someone to remake MG1 and MG2 in new graphics as downloadable titles. The graphics could be 3D but still retain the top down perspective. And you could still shoot and look around in FP perspective when you hold down a respective button. Get the dialogue voice acted too. I'd love to hear David Hayter or even Sutherland say "The truck have started to move!" and the guard say "I feel asleep."

Fantastic!

Re: E3 2013: You'll Need a PS Plus Subscription to Play PS4 Online

ThreadShadow

Just a non aggressive question:

How many diehard Sony fans, who used to berate Xbox fans about paying to play online, have now changed their tune about paying to play online?

The only benefit to that is perhaps as a previous user commented; that Sony may be able to provide a more stable infrastructure for PSN servers etc..

Also may I remind folks that most of the free stuff you get with Plus is actually just a "lease" or "rental". Once you cancel that subscription, say goodbye to all those free games.

That means you'll be paying to play single player games over Gaikai, not just online/multiplayer modes of games.

PS Plus subscribers do get 50% off sales though.

I'm just wondering if while everyone is on this "Sony beat MS" high, this may actually be more a negative then a positive slipping past the radar.

Re: Flower Looks Like It's Blooming on PlayStation Vita

I always question motion controls on portables because you are potentially moving the screen out of optimum viewing range. On PS3 you were of course just moving the controller.

Anyway, absolutely beautiful game. I may give it a shot on Vita, should Sony lower the memory card price.

Re: Reaction: PS4 May Play Second Fiddle to PS3 This Year, But It Makes Sense

ThreadShadow

There's just too many big PS3 games in the pipeline for Sony to toss it yet.
1."PlayStation Family" remark from Sony rep.
2. Large install base.
3. Promised/hyped PS3 games.
4. Precendence set by PS2 of big games released just before/during/just after release of next gen system.

Big games on PS3 (I do not personally endorse them all.)
1. Gran Turismo 6
2. The Last of Us
3. Dust 514 (true it could easily carry over to PS4)
4. RE: Rev
5. Tales of games
6. Saints Row 4
7. GTA V
8. Splinter Cell Blacklist
9. Lost Planet 3
10. Rayman Legends
11.Kingdom Hearts 1.5 remix
12. Beyond
13. Puppeteer (PSN)
14. Rain (PSN)
15. Madden
16. Batman AO
17. Ass Creed 4
18. CoD Ghosts
19. WatchDogs
20. Final Fantasy XIV (online 2!) If Sony is trying to foster a good relationship with SE, it doesn't seem likely they will drop the PS3 just when SE releases a huge mmorpg for it. (once again, I could see Sony buying this onto PS4 though.)
-
Most likely:
1. MGS GZ/PP
2. Lightning Returns: FFXIII
3. Battlefield 4 (?)
4. Destiny
5. LBP 3 (I wouldn't be surprised.)
6. FF Versus XIII
7. The Last Guardian

Of course I don't think the list discounts the possibility of releases on both PS3 and PS4, but I think if certain games retain exclusivity it will be to the PS3, rather then the PS4.

That is a lot of confirmed PS3 games and hyped potentials for Sony to just start ignoring the PS3, don't you think?

Re: Talking Point: Sony Must Solve the PlayStation Vita's Memory Woes

ThreadShadow

@Sammy Great article! I completely agree. I still have the 4gig that came with the system. It's basically full. I'm not about to spend $80-$100 on the 32gig. I haven't recently and most likely won't be buying any Vita-specific PSN content until they lower the price significantly on the 32.

I think Sony won't budge an inch on the cards anytime soon. They see the Vita as a sinking ship...sure they're throwing it a couple life-preservers over the coming months to see if it can keep it's head above water, but mostly they seem content to let it ring up as many memory card prices as it can before it goes under for the third time.

Re: Opinion: Sony Must Manage the Transition to the PS4 Perfectly

ThreadShadow

@get2sammyb

While I disagree with your anti-PS3 stance...(kidding!), I completely agree with your "games sell systems" stance.

Release on PS3:
1. There is Sony's precedent for big titles released at the end of a consoles life.
2. Established install base of current gen console.

Also there is that whole "addition to the family" statement regarding the PS4. Granted is wasn't made by a really top ranking Sony exec, but it seems like a statement that is all about caution. Big support for PS3 still, while versions for PS4 will also be made-kinda thing going on there. Kepping the PS3 and PS4 side by side in the publics mind. This game is available on the PlayStation "family" of consoles.

Release on PS4:
1. Games sell systems, systems don't sell systems. PS4 would need as many heavy hitters as possible to propel it forward.

It has always boggled my mind, (though I can understand it from peoples explanations on this site, "how long to wait for profits", basically), how third-parties will create a self-fulfilling prophecy. They won't release a game for the system, because it's too risky, so they sit back and wait for the console to improve. How can it improve without your game? And when it doesn't they shout out "see, we were right not to release our game for your system because it failed!". Well, yes, it failed because no games were released for it. People buy games, not systems, so to speak. And what if every third-party made the same choice-to wait and see? Game development-you're doing it wrong!!

Personally though, since I most likely will not be buying a PS4, I don't want them to release the PS3 games I've been anticipating, exclusively on the PS4.

And isn't there LBP 3 in development for PS3 too?

Re: Opinion: Sony Must Manage the Transition to the PS4 Perfectly

Gran Turismo 6
Lightning Returns: FFXIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
The Last Guardian
Plus more...

They'll all be gracing the PS3 during this transition period, don't you think? It's like when the PS2 received some heavy hitters when it had to bow out of the spotlight for PS3. It received games like TR Legend, Okami, FF XII, Shadow of the Colossus, and gow 2.

Sony might want to clear out the backlog of unreleased PS3 projects and start the PS4 with a clean slate.
