Re: Soapbox: It's Okay to Enjoy Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West

To my thinking its the same comparison as Sekiro vs Ghost of Tsushima.

Many more people played and liked Ghost, but for those who got into Sekiro and overcame its challenge, it was something truly special.

Kinda like the contrast between popcorn and arthouse cinema. Less mass appeal, but more meaningful to fewer people. Both have their place in the culture.

Re: Sony Reportedly Planned to Cease PS4 Production at the End of 2021

I just picked up a second hand Pro instead and couldnt be happier. The upgrade to 4K is a massive difference to me, but its all about the games at the end of the day. Either next (current?) gen console is yet to have that truly killer must-have IMO, and with Elden Ring, Horizon, God of War etc. still coming to PS4, I can wait at least another year.

When Yakuza games go exclusive to PS5, I will follow.

Re: PS4 Console Sales Limp to Just Over 116 Million

@tartanross yes, these high sales figures are entirely down to putting out faulty products and forcing multiple purchases.

And Avatar used cutting edge technology (in 2009) to give an experience that made it worth people's time, money and effort to go to the Cinema. Narratively it's not amazing, and doesnt quite shine on the small screen but.... Sales is sales.

Or maybe it was people buying multiple tickets because the cinema burned down the first time.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

Starkei

@The_New_Butler I think a comparison is always useful. To go back to the original subject, gamepass released in 2017, it barely helped them shift even 40% of the amount of consoles Sony did last gen. And even though its early days, its looking roughly the same ratio between the ps5 and serieseses. I think that commitment to quality exclusives is the difference, (well executed if not always particularly original) and far outweighs gamepass as a consumer incentive.

Do you think the Bethesda announcements will change that? That is the big win for microsoft IMO.
