Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 602

Slideaway1983

As im a dump or finish kind of gamer, still on borderlands 4... maybe get the platinum if I can figure out the fishing (not looked at a guide for that yet, but no fishes for me!) Just got to unlock level 5 post game (last mission) and those are the 2 hardest things to go...

Then its either back to kirby on switch 2 or buying shapes and beats as its finally on sale!

Re: 'I Pushed for It': Final Fantasy 7 Remake Director on Why the New Progression 'Cheats' Are Important

Slideaway1983

Platinumed the 1st one and felt great about it - then rude and elena handed my backside to me on the hardest difficulty playthrough of the 2nd.

If I still had the game id give it a whirl, but if trophies were activated, it would feel cheap; and ive no need to play through it again otherwise beating it on normal and "knowing" the story.

Buuuut... yes its a good idea for those that are a teeny bit late to the party!

Re: It's Not Fixed Yet, But Borderlands 4 Still Wants You Hyped for Its First DLC Character

Slideaway1983

@Veritas7Ax @Ricky-Spanish its certainly more adult (in a non toilet humour type of way - so I guess mature is apt), but the story i feel needed fleshing out. I and my friend also struggle to know the story as we're in the same boat as you and understand concept now and fly tbrough things, but with all the gun fire / firefights you miss like 75% of the dialogue unless you turn sound effects down, which is a shame.

Its definitely up there with 2, but not as high, and better than the last 2 iim TTW and BL3.

I'd certainly recommend it as a sale buy if ever you are at least interested.

And yes, in TPS I was so close to losing the final fight against guardian and magically pulled out pirate ship and my trusty tongue (haha - ofc i mean torgue- typo! -edit) shotgun... killed it in fight for your life and I just laughed (drunkenly at the time!).

This is in response to veritas: gaige made me solo the game again as she rocked. Same with Jack in TPS, despite the game.

Krieg I really couldn't get on with as he wasn't my usual play style (commando).

Re: Random: Perhaps Ruben Amorim Should Buy the Current Man United Squad PSPs

Slideaway1983

@Ricky-Spanish absolutely agree. I only supported them from the inaugural PL season as my mom picked a random side to have a bet on and I did - I picked united as I used to go to Manchester to visit family and the team stuck after that - so in a way I am a glory hunter 🤣 but ive been through it all as well, as well as knowing the history, heritage etc - as I said above not many realise fergie was nearly sacked before the cup win saved him; so everything we know as united now would probably have been "another day" if they did, so can't cry over it...

And lets bot forget fergie was no saint- Veron, taibi, forlan et al were hardly stands outs in the team... its just that we are now buying 5 a season 🤣🤣🤣

Re: Random: Perhaps Ruben Amorim Should Buy the Current Man United Squad PSPs

Slideaway1983

@Ricky-Spanish never had Ricky Spanish down as a united fan anyway... would have thought more dr. Penguin 😉🤪

But yes, I did forget Hodgson and I remembered Kenny as interim after I posted - wasn't (i think) a another Scottish player interim as well once - the Bald midfielder from late 90s - early 00s. It was mc something (duh!).

But id take constant Europe atm... this 3 year plan or whatever it is for united is just buzzwordsto partially satiate fans in the short term. I remember alpine saying the same a few years back with alonso in f1 and now they're back markers 🤣

Re: Random: Perhaps Ruben Amorim Should Buy the Current Man United Squad PSPs

Slideaway1983

@Ricky-Spanish oh yeah I get all of that - the one thing that really put me on van gaals side was when shaw broke his leg and the interview he gave after the match. Showed a lot of empathy for him, so wasn't just a footballing robot in my eyes.

And I may be wrong, but I dont think liverpool went through so many managers... though I dont mind being corrected, all I can remember since the 90s is Evans, houllier (sic?), benitez then klopp.

My ex said that the weekend though that when they finished mid table it was like the end of the world, and we were laughing when I said try finishing near relegation and somehow being one of the best countries (edit - teams) in Europe 🤣

"Its a funny old game" - Sir Jimmy of Greaves.

Re: Random: Perhaps Ruben Amorim Should Buy the Current Man United Squad PSPs

Slideaway1983

@Decoy_Snake my ex says the same to me regarding the contract - but im a realist and know it ebbs and flows. Its not just amorim thats the problem- even my liverpool supporting ex wanted several managers to stay because of the play style and not ironically for results. United are quick to forget that Fergie was nearly sacked until a cup win, and now we are at the point when even van gaal was sacked after winning the F A cup... so im not surprised now with any decision the board makes. 🤣

Re: 'Quit Game and Restart': PS5 Pro Has the Worst Version of Borderlands 4

Slideaway1983

@Jammer its really not a wreck in my gameplay. Playing on performance mode and clocked 50 hours (including the counter running in stand by mode on the console) so far.

Few dips in frames, but to be honest nothing game breaking my side. Maybe im just lucky, or people are playing way too much... I can comfortably say ive maybe averaged a good chunk of hours per day.

The main problems ive had is random effects glitches (that aren't part of the weaponry) and its been fine in co op... so who knows? 🤷

Re: Round Up: Borderlands 4 Reviews All on PC, No PS5 Verdicts Anywhere

Slideaway1983

@devil76 indeed... i mean even a 5 is a bang average game (ie there's something to like there) in my eyes... but people who think like every game should be 8/9/10 are deluded. Doesn't matter how many years it takes to develop something, or the cash invested. If the creative aren't up to scratch you wont get those scores; but if the concept is seen and it works then 5,6 or 7 is fine by me also. Anything below that shows next to no merit for me as then we're looking at there being several things wrong - not to say I always play 5 and 6... but you get the gist.

Re: Round Up: Borderlands 4 Reviews All on PC, No PS5 Verdicts Anywhere

Slideaway1983

@Fiendish-Beaver completely agree with the 8/10 front... if i kept building my switch physical collection on 9s and 10s only it would be slim pickings in a mainly nintendo set of games.

To be more on topic, Im a mark for borderlands anyway as ive played them all; and a mid 85 is what I would expect for a "good' borderlands game - 1 was extremely tough at points, 2 was toilet humour city, TPS was quite shallow and 3 had a terrible set of protagonists... so a lacking story here fits in a "normal" BL game to me, and keeps my excitement high for the gameplay which is my favourite part anyway if im honest with the building of characters in a skill tree.

Anyone dismissing it without a review really needs to get out more - i know its not everybody's "thing" but death stranding ain't my thing and I dont bash it. Im expecting a decently smooth experience during gameplay, and if its below 60fps in performance I get that as its UE5, which anyone who knows, knows the problems there.

As long as performance is up to a standard, it should be ok, and I anticipate thats what the day one patch is for, which online games will always need anyway. The main problem I always have anyway when these come out is matchmaking, which is kinda essential for a co op game, so as long as that works out the box ill be happy to play what I have and build.on it with more inevitable patches.

Re: Cronos: The New Dawn, Hell Is Us Compete with Popular Favourites in UK Physical Charts

Slideaway1983

@Sergo how do you mean? For example, NintendoLife (sister site) awarded it 8/10 and said (paraphrasing here) its not as laborious as an AC game, so if i wasnt bored of star wars i would have given it a go on any console - so depends what reviews you read, i guess 🤣... Also, not that I listen to it all too much, as graphics aren't important to me, but DF says its a great port as well with both graphics and performance.

Re: 'Things Are Progressing Really Smoothly': Nomura Shares Rare Update on Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 4

Slideaway1983

@Slayer25c indeed, im a fan of ff7 but no Hard-core fanboy, and being a fan of multiversal theory well before marvel made it cool makes me enjoy this remake story wide for what it is. Even my ex who is a bigger fan enjoys it - though I do have to explain parts of the story and why stamp is different in parts of the story 🤣

As ive mentioned in other places, the only problem i had with the 2 games so far was the busywork of rebirth. If part 3 is more streamlined and does keep taking you out of the story every 10 mi utes with a new mini game, im looking forward to seeing what should be a changed ending... maybe sephiroth wins in this one and decides he'll be a good guy 🤣

Re: Rumour: To Avoid Even More PS5 Price Increases, Digital Edition to Get Reduced SSD Space

Slideaway1983

@themightyant i understand your point completely, and I was as good as a "day one" ps5 owner, but personally im not seeing much bang for my buck by way of games. Ironically im a solo gamer 99% of the time, and with the amount and quality of even 3rd party games you'd think i was in nirvana, but im too anxious to play silent hill 2, soulslikes dont interest me because I dont "got game" etc... so in my stance im happy to stick with the ps5 for a good while.

Granted, I also have a switch 2 and will buy all 1st party physical games to get the nintendo experience, so I have more flexibility than someone with one machine.

But this year all I can remember playing on ps5 is patapon replay, clair obscure and currently thps 3+4, so 4 remasters from 5 games; which is a bit shocking as someone that loves to play games in my spare time 🤣

I mean I do have borderlands next week (i think!) But even though its pre ordered, im on the fence as to how much ill play it due to the third one. Im hoping its a step up, or im done with that franchise as well... maybe its just because im getting old and focus / tastes in hobbies are changing, but my gaming habits have shifted a lot since the release of ps5, but especially when its been a heatwave in the UK ive much more enjoyed painting / playing an instrument either with a sheet music book / rocksmith than play a traditional game.

So no arguments from me with your point. I've still got my ps5, and will continue to keep it; but i will wait and see how the games pan out for ps6 if I consider getting one down the line. We all seek our own value!

Re: Rumour: To Avoid Even More PS5 Price Increases, Digital Edition to Get Reduced SSD Space

Slideaway1983

@themightyant agree with "high end electronics getting lower" - its not true.

I had an s23 ultra back in 23 around launch (unlocked, etc) and its was £1200. Because I noticed a big difference to the midrange phones ive had in the past, ive been keeping an eye on s24 / 25 and the 25 from the same website is £150 more for the same storage.

The only 2 reasons I haven't upgraded is because the stats / reviews basically show its the same phone (to the casual observer like me that wont use every function), and the fact that I find my s23 that good im still happy with battery life only needing to charge it once a day.

So high end electronics are still going up, whether people believe that or not. Yes you may get more bells and whistles as time goes on, but as someone that never uses a macro on a camera (though my gf does on mine), why would i want to upgrade to something I see as adjacent for a higher outlay than what I have and perceive as the same?

It's the general public i feel sorry for in a way as there are undeniably people who wait until mid - late gen with consoles to get a bargain; but the only decreases that are happening are what comes with the machine, whilst the price goes up. Though saying that, im also aware of sonys profits being high (yet the need to make more as a company), and the correlation with other adjacent "slap a new badge on it" products.

As others have said, its been a weird generation; i know i wont be going all out for a ps6 in whatever form it takes, same as im not getting said new phone, as now im in my 40s, ive learnt how to compare items and think about what im getting compared to just giving people my money; especially in this economy.

That said, the world is just weird altogether. Im also the type of person that would rather pay more for the same with food inflation than less for the same; but we've been conditioned with electronics that they come down over time - and I think we need to start realising that the only way they're coming down anytime soon is quite literally stock clearance.

Sorry for the big reply to you directly. Kind of my view to everyone complaining about things should be the same price 🤣

Re: Lost Soul Aside's PS5 Platinum Won't Be a Walk in the Park

Slideaway1983

@Balaam_ or you know... give up on "clean" lists like i did about 5 years ago. If i like a game, I'll try and plat it. If I just want to see the credits, then thats all ill do. After about 350 platinums I realised I didn't respect my own time, let alone the people who curate the lists and try to give purists a challenge.

Better off paying 70 and enjoying a game for 25 hours, than constantly moaning its too labour intensive, and how dare the dev want you to play what they developed like a nightmare mode 🤣

Re: Ryo Hazuki Returns in Shenmue 3 Enhanced on PS5

Slideaway1983

@dimi just dated as its more a continuation. In a way I kind of respect that, as it means a less jarring experience between episodes; but if your a "modern gamer" coming into it, it can be extremely jarring if you dont have a reference point to how advanced the game was in 2000.
