Re: Mini Review: Warriors: Abyss (PS5) - A Decent Descent into Hell for Roguelike and Warriors Fans

Slideaway1983

@dardel no worries mate. Seeing as you asked I thought I'd give my estimate. As ever, skill level counts. Could be less, hence my 30-50 estimate.

***edit*** @odium, there's also dragon quest heroes if you've not tried that. Both ps4 games, and i enjoyed them; but i know what you mean. After a while it's a bit samey.

I just go into them thinking it's not a sprint. As I mentioned above, play them for quick blasts. Of course if you are a completionist, then logic goes out the window haha.

Re: Mini Review: Warriors: Abyss (PS5) - A Decent Descent into Hell for Roguelike and Warriors Fans

Slideaway1983

@dardel I've played a few days last week - off you're good with combos and evasion, I'd say around 35 - 50 hours.

It takes around an hour a run, and if you mean plat, you need to complete the game with either 20 / 30 heroes

Rest of the stuff comes with progression if i remember correctly.

If you're average at these games like me, then maybe 50? I know that's how long I've "put aside" for it, as its just a pick up and play game. You can get hooked into the rogue like elements for one more run, but even failure with a particular hero (should you subsequently add them to your team on a run - its also random, the selection screen, though you can re roll a few times), levels them up to make your team better next time you select them.

Hope that helps. If you need more info, ask away. I'm not a vet of the series though, so no "character / lore" questions 🤣 I just really fancied a hack and slash game haha.

***edit***

Just checked, 20 heroes for completion.

I found i failed for around the 1st 5 hours but made steady progress. You also need to fail so many times (30) and basically I would say the hardest trophies (atm) are the 30 heores completion and deal 1.5m damage with an assemble (ultimate) attack, but again, that will come with increased power through other runs. It's a pretty generic list if I'm honest.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for February 2025?

Slideaway1983

I put good as there was nothing there personally for me. I can see there's plenty of stuff for others though.

As stated before, patapon 3 is more my jam... and sonic racing is more my speed of game lately due to getting old 🤣🤣🤣

edit borderlands 4 also, but I'm on the fence.

One thing that did irk me was one London accent in that London based game though... I think it was a child voice over- reminded me very much of dick van dyke in Mary Poppins 🤣

Re: PS Plus Premium Likely to Include Rhythm RPG Classic Patapon 3

Slideaway1983

@FreasurePlanten yep I'm.exactly the same. My barin can't deal with "what happens if I do this?" And immediately fail 🤣

As much as I like rogue like/lite games, I'm equally easily confused and annoyed by them...

But as long as ratatan has similar formula and cute, catchy tracks, I'm a happy man as the art style is beautiful.

I even paid originally for PS4/5 and then went onto back it again and bought a switch copy when the slacker backer campaign came to whatever the secondary site was 🤣

It's a shame I don't understand discord though, as I couldn't sort out my role for the beta.

I'll wait for my steam alpha anyway. Let people more in the know get on with helping them squash the bugs!

Re: PS Plus Premium Likely to Include Rhythm RPG Classic Patapon 3

Slideaway1983

@get2sammyb oh yeah, I know it'll be available to purchase, but similar to @FreasurePlanten i just meant If it ends up being true.

And yeah, great to finally have the trilogy; though the debug mode hopefully isn't there this time to you know... encourage playing the game (which I'd wager a few people used that go for trophies - myself included when I had enough 🤣🤣🤣 )

It was an early cold morning in West Brom, I'm entitled to make no sense 🤣

Re: PS Plus Premium Likely to Include Rhythm RPG Classic Patapon 3

Slideaway1983

I don't have premium, but of true ill gladly pay for this as I never finished it on PSP, and would love to play it again given I played the originals, platted 1&2, and I backed Ratatan day 1.

Sure, as stated it is the runt of the litter, but well worth trying out, if you're a fan of rhythm action games, and especially if you have premium.

If you didn't like the first two, I'm afraid there's definitely nothing for you here though.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for January 2025 Announced

Slideaway1983

Bought hot pursuit when it first came out, and still a brilliant game in remaster form.

Stanley parable already played, and enjoyed the "dull" humour so much I've double dipped on switch.

As I own those two, and recommend as a racing game and walking sim respectively; the one I'm most bothered about is SS... Which in the run to release and reviews, I've held off buying, and wanted to play.

So I'm happy with just the one game, which I will play soon enough now, along with my new year sale games - despite the reviews, I'm looking forward to it for "free".

Re: PS5 Players Choose Performance Mode 75% of the Time

Slideaway1983

@OldGamer999 agree fully with the upscaling on Sony tvs... especially when they have dedicated setups when you plug the playstation in. Nothing more that i really need, and I've played most of the "big games" (Spiderman, FF7R, FF16, GoWR, even astro bot) this way in performance, and I'm happy with it.

Re: Don't Worry, You Can Add an Ultra HD Disc Drive to PS5 Pro

Slideaway1983

@DaniPooo I didn't say I wanted the performance though... believe me once you get older and your eyesight goes, no matter what tech speak they say to you you start to question is that kind of money really worth it for negligible enhancements. As I always play performance anyway, I blatantly don't care about 3-d retina imprinted ray tracing of a corvette on a Nissan leaf in GT7 🤣

Re: Astro Bot PS5 Sales 'Aren't Huge' in UK, But There's Still Hope

Slideaway1983

I'd actually say it has more widespread appeal than GoW or SM... because it appeals to kids, adults with nostalgia and whatever else you want to throw in there. Not every game has to be AAA 500M dollar blockbusters; the simplicity alone of this game cannot and should not be underrated.

I'm.suffering a fever atm, so if that sound very biased or whatever else, I apologise 🤣🤣🤣

Re: Sony Execs Seem to Think the Company Doesn't Have Enough Original IP

Slideaway1983

@Th3solution I'd agree, as an owner of a switch / Nintendo in general also, Sony has a lot more "vacant" IP than nintendo, which as others have said is effectively mario characters in new environments, link / zelda games, metroid and... pikmin? Obviously more than that, but I'm talking core.

Whilst I was never any good at the higher difficulties, I'd happily take a new parappa (love me some rhythm action) or wipeout... which aren't really all that expensive to make compares to a spiderman / horizon (I personally think), but the list of IPs they do have, as alluded to for better or worse above is astoundingby others above...

The only thing I can take from the statement is "we've tried those, they didn't sell as expected and we're struggling with creating / developing new IP".

Re: Astro's Playroom Is Having a Party Inside Your PS5 Right Now

Slideaway1983

@Rich33 agreed, if it packs even the same amount of stuff but a longer game than the pre install OG, then I'm happy for the price...

Even more happy I've bought it digital and my controller and sealed game will be pride of place in my collection.

I still personally feel that the OG is the best showcase for what the controller can do, and since I first had my PS5, I've wanted more; and today Is the day!

I'm 40 and feel like a kid at Christmas (with deeper pockets) 🤣

Re: Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions' Snitch Has Been Dramatically Nerfed on PS5, PS4

Slideaway1983

"Quidditch is a difficult sport to adapt".

So is my so real "Framblefump", which professionals play on a daily basis. It's such a real sport, and doesn't involve either a) flying or b) running around on a broom as an adult like you used to as a kid pretending to be a witch, maybe.

I'd wager there's a chance to sell the rights in the next year or so, but I want global domination, and an investment from Mark Cuban will be the start of this, as he knows real sport. I'm thinking bigger than the NFL, Premier league and 20/20 cricket.

Re: Movie Review: Borderlands - As Bland As the Brand It's Based On

Slideaway1983

I've not read any of the comments, but this and a bunch of other reviews are backing up what we (as in those of us that are fans of the series) and most probably those in the outside that may have glimpsed the trailers were kinda already aware of... it was not looking good.

Pitchford (CEO of gearbox, for those not in the know) openly stated recently that if it wasn't for Tales of the borderlands with its narrative driven story (with some good, dumb humour) made them realise that a film could be done. Before he even said that, I kinda agreed - it could be a "good enough" comedy and action film that keeps the fans happy and the public in general exposed to a new franchise... but I can't help but wonder if tales of could have been used as an influence, and maybe done it as a limited episode series?

While it does have a lot of lore to remember and know, us hard-core fans will get everything with a wink and a nod, but those outside the bubble do need a bit of hand holding etc. For my argument, I'd like to hold up fallout as a good example.

I've dabbled in the games (finished only 4, from a narrative perspective, but played every other one I can), but the series was concise, with a new spin on the same lore to keep you wanting more (from the "villains" perspective, to avoid spoilers). Sure, it was great, but I wouldn't call it must see.... but I'm looking forward to S2... unfortunately, even when casting was announced with Hart as what I presume to be a 6ft (mininum) soldier and stating its a whole new story I was like "what?".

Sorry - babbling now, but just flesh out the story you have... start with b1, you already have part of a script to work from and by the time you get to the 3rd film (maximum), you've got the best game of the franchise and it's best villain.

There's source material there... and apart from what I've seen in aesthetics, not a lot survived the original... not to mention taking an "adult" game and making it tween friendly...

But yeah, sorry for long comment... hopefully it makes sense.

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Pre-Orders Live Now on PS5

Slideaway1983

The next two days are gonna be a drain for my wallet, pre ordering this, the astro controller (if I get in on time tonorrow), and another thing tonight that's not PS related (but for those that want to know, a stylophone theramin)... Can someone please give me a job?! 🤣

Re: Smash Hit Roguelike Balatro Has Sold Over 2 Million Copies, Free Major Update Incoming

Slideaway1983

@Mostik same here. Whilst I've been lured away from other f2p games of late (more because of attention deficit), I double dipped on a switch physical copy for the train... looking forward to having the portability of it, as well as having a new shiny thing toward my switch collection and supporting the dev twice over for a game that is both rewarding and annoying in equal measure!

Re: Fallout 4 PS5 Next-Gen Update Now Unlocked for PS Plus Owners

Slideaway1983

@Digit2021 I actually forgot to buy the season pass, but works for me as I have premium...

I live in the UK and have a physical copy - if you're interested, we could try and find a way to get my physical copy to you? Just an idea. Either that or wait for it to drop again, and it may cost a fair chunk to send it to you.

Or maybe someone else in your country will read this and make a similar offer... just trying to pass some goodness on!

Re: Fallout 4 PS5 Version Out 25th April with New Modes and Content

Slideaway1983

@The_Pixel_King still got my deluxe edition or whatever it was, with the postcards I got from Game for a tenner back when it was on the Elite programme (I bought a lot, and bought games for friends on the cheap, sometimes; don't judge, haha!).

I will be popping the disc back in at some point to re walk the red route!

Re: PS5, PS4's Gran Turismo 7 Continues to Get Better and Better

Slideaway1983

@vyseofhr I said the same when f1 came out last year - using the a frame of the car to find your line immediately made it more immersive and shaved a second or two off my times, not to mention using side mirrors to see other drivers; whereas when I played it "flat" it's always got to be external, which always feels a lot slower and counter intuitive to the philosophy of the game.

Re: PS Portal Is Proving Everyone's Predictions Wrong

Slideaway1983

@NEStalgia which mini golf game you on about, pal? I've not played for ages and can't remember, but I have the one with like a (bowie) labyrinth themed course - with the dog, big sasquatch thing etc? - if so I know what you mean for the hunt!

Honestly I've so many - haven't played since maybe June as life and ps5 in general has got in the way, not to mention ever crisis on android. Haven't even dipped into some like call of the mountain and stuff.

I also get you with vr1. Mines in my room boxed up and no idea what to do with it. Had too much motion sickness and it's too heavy for my head, so complete waste of money - and again I have a backlog on that, as I ended up just playing borderlands 2 a lot (for the 3rd time on ps?!) 🙄

I agree with the cost - and it does fill a niche; already have 4 dual senses (to connect ro ps5, deck etc) and play offline predominantly (no social circle haha) so and edge isn't really mandatory for me. I bought the portal last December as I could barely get in on the "main tv" downstairs, and now my housemate has disappeared it's just basically a fifth controller but only for ps5 now 🤣

Re: PS Portal Is Proving Everyone's Predictions Wrong

Slideaway1983

@EVIL-C I did haha! 👍

@NEStalgia there's only one good place to rob a police station though - evidence room! Now where Push's "tasty" bits?!

PSVR2 is also getting no love in my house... need to fire it back up as I have a backlog on that, too! It's better than most say it is, as good as some say it is; and as a punt, I was impressed with it compared to the original. I just keep getting distracted!
