Sony have so lost this last generation. Big time.
I moved from PS4 and switch to Xbox One X and switch nearly 3 years ago. PS4 is just weak and the range of exclusives is so limited it’s laughable. I recently moved back to PS4 as the XBox Controller is disgusting and cheap and I cannot stand it.
Far better quality controller on PS4, but instantly recognised how inferior the hardware is. I still stand by the opinion PS4 was pointless and not worth the upgrade from PS3.
In the course of 7 years, AAA console exclusives on PS4 stand at:
Street Fighter V
Uncharted 4
Bloodborne
God of War
Spiderman
Last of Us II.
and that is it. For a 7 year run, that is disgusting and in my eyes an utter failure to deliver to your customer base.
However. The next gen for me will rely on the controller. Visuals are not really improving any more now from gen to gen and AAA titles are getting less and less about a quality game than they are fancy packaging. The I demo games of the last 7 years have far outshine the big studios in terms of quality and originality. The development budgets are so obscenely high that they cannot risk to take a risk anymore and just produce cookie cutter games and invest in graphics. Point in case, Uncharted 4. Brilliant franchise but it peaked with Uncharted 2 which is an all time classic and subsequently got more boring with each sequel. Pretty game, but didn’t add anything or get any more interesting over the next two games.
Forza Horizon duped me into an XBox One X and it looked incredible. After a week???... goddamn it’s a boring game.
Console manufacturers need to go back and rediscover what makes an amazing gaming experience. The controller must be the best it can be, solid and intuitive. It is THE only conduit between you and the experience. If the interface is problematic then it’s bad experience no matter what. Then rediscover what makes a great experience. Sitting through cutscenes and QTE set pieces is..... crap and cheap.
Spider-Man and Gears of War? Garbage and vacuous.
Doom and Metroid Prime? Absolute benchmarks of what a gaming experience should be.

But it’s soccer and by definition boring and crap. Then it gets worse, it’s a nice looking but ultimately sub-standard EA game so who gives it a toss?

Good job there wasn’t an E3 for them to try and pad three days out with that truck load of new info........
Madden and FIFA with nothing new at all.
Squadrons..... still not convinced this is worth bothering with.
Skate..... no.

@SirAngry the switch pro controller is by far and wide the best and best quality controller I’ve ever seen and used. The WORST controller is the insanely cheap feeling XBox One controller. DualShock falls somewhere in between for me. I’ve never liked the sticks being low and central, feels unnatural and uncomfortable.

White is literally the WORST colour for consoles ever. The amount of yellowing in white plastics is insane, everybody always wants dark coloured consoles. As soon as you market in white, it fails every time in the long run and you just look like you’re trying to win Mormons over, and that’s it.

Why is me holding a negative opinion trolling? I own and game every console since the NES, own and play PS1 through to PS4. My negative opinion is based on playing these consoles for 30 years. PlayStation peaked with the PS3 which was the best platform of that generation. The PS5 May be the first iteration of PlayStation I pass on entirely and have zero interest in as yesterday reveal only reinforced how poor Sony have become.
If you consider my opinion as trolling, I can only see you blind faith optimism as fanboy gushing.

For the sake of any potential success of the PS5 that the £599 was wrong. That’s a deal breaker of a launch price, I don’t care what it’s offering. £400 max for any new console.

Or... buy an old Wii U and get breath of the wild and wind waker HD for the price of two PS5 games and play two of the best RPGs ever made instead of somebody trying to emulate Nintendo on a pointless console with a poor imitation

Is this another release where everyone convinced themselves they love cars and Top Gear, buy this latest version, the quickly remove they actually find car racing games boring and regret paying the full RRP for a game they hardly ever play and got duped into buying cause the graphics were nice and glossy? This was dog dirt “reveal” after dog dirt reveal. Weak exclusives, no real visual fanfare over the capabilities on XBox One X or PS4 Pro, GTA V.... AGAIN!!!! They do know this was a PS3 game??? Are we really to ensure another “next” Generation console 2 years premature, padded out with “remasters” of old games we’ve played to death and got bored of long ago? Sony’s hardware abortions served to end with PS5, it peaked with PS3 and is becoming worse and worse.

This is predominantly a list trying to think outside the box and give you experiences you never thought you'd pick, only to give you a selection of games you'll flick on for all of 5 minutes each and make you think "meh".

For shame Sony.

The Battle Royale mode on this game was painfully boring and is a waste of time to have included over a campaign mode. It was nearly as appallingly turd as Fortnite.

The standard MP modes however were great and benefitted massively from dropping the walling running and jet packs from black ops III

Shame it’s rubbish and not yet advanced enough to deliver a sharp enough gaming world. By PS6 or PS7 they might be close. As it stands, this is a novelty gaming experience that impresses in 10 minute doses.

It’s a crap service akin to Playstation plus. Paying more and more for the right to own nothing.

The PS5 being a hybrid bit with the power of a PS4 would be unbelievable.

If you see your home gaming also being fully mobile as a step back then you either haven’t got a Switch, or you need to try one.

Since the release of the Switch I’ve not actually gamed as much in my life. The sheer accessibility of the format is unprecidented and Sony would be wise to expand on what is simply the biggest innovation in gaming history. A full year hybrid and mobile PS5 being a bad thing? Come on!

This hopefully means the PS5 will be a hybrid console

But given they want £90 for this and it comes with 2 controllers, why not bundle it it with the controllers for the system that accessed all the games. Any games that were improved and even required the dual sticks are now impossible to be included, or will not be as good an experience if they are included, on the PsOne mini for omitting the DualShock in favour of the worst controller ever made.

It’s sad how over hyped this game is. It looks and plays exactly like every Spider-Man game before it.

There’s no weight to anything, battle camera and controls is as weightless, over poppy and utterly underwhelming as every other Spider-Man, web slinging is unimaginative.

The advertisements, make this game look so unbelievable and action packed and awesome..... then you play it and think, where did all that go? Why am I playing Spider-Man in PS2?

Paid youtubers and “influencers” over hyping? Check.
TV and Online advertisements rammed with cutscenes and no in game footage? Check.

Reminds me of when first saw the trailer for final fantasy VII, thought WOW! Then I played it and thought what the **** is this muddy, tiny sprited, flat background god awful looking game!? Great game! Looked like crap.

Spider-man is the other way around. Looks stunning, but gets instantly relentlessly boring and has no neat to it at all.

Super hero game done right? Arkham Asylum by more than a clear mile showed how to do it, and this is no where near in the same league as Arkham. Which is sad as I’m more of a Marvel fan, but maybe Spider-man should have gone a multi format developer rather than yet another Sony exclusive developer with the directives of •Spend all youbtjne and resources on the graphic engine and effects!!!! Get the interns to develop the physics and gameplay of the game. I think only EA could have made a worse Spider-Man game.

Maximum Carnage still stands as the best SpiderMan game in my opinion.

@MrOso I would say a gamer is someone who retains their own taste and opinion on the whole medium of gaming.

I would say somebody who raves about fortnite on the playground to his mates is a child. (Not you personally, but the general consensus of positive comments on this game originate from 8-10 years olds discussing games with my son at his school. Any gamer I know highly ranks this game as the epitome of turd.)

The character models need reworking over again from scratch. They look like HD versions of the original blocky models from Dreamcast.

The worlds look stunning, by the models look vastly it of place and need evolving the 18 years since the originals, like tekken, like virtua fighter. If Akira looked the same in virtua fighter 5 as he did in 3, there’s be severe concern. These shenmue models are behind virtua fighter 5 which is now ancient but came from the same teams and graphic engines. What’s going on? Bite the bullet, delay it 12 months and give the fans what they are waiting for and what the backers have invested in. These models need to go
